  • Kevin Newman 3B | LAA

Reds' Kevin Newman: Out of lineup Tuesday

Newman is not in the lineup Tuesday against Atlanta.

Jose Barrero will make back-to-back starts at shortstop to begin the Reds' series versus the defending NL East champions. Newman has slashed just .174/.208/.304 through his first 24 plate appearances this season.

  • Yoan Moncada 3B | LAA

White Sox's Yoan Moncada: Likely out until Friday

Moncada (back) is expected to remain sidelined for the final two games of the White Sox's series with the Twins on Tuesday and Wednesday, Daryl Van Schouwen of the Chicago Sun-Times reports.

Moncada sat out Monday's 4-3 win with back tightness and looks poised to miss at least two more games. The White Sox have an off day Thursday before beginning a home series Friday with Baltimore, so perhaps Moncada will be ready to play by this weekend. Hanser Alberto and Jake Burger could see time at the hot corner while Moncada is banged up.

  • Jace Peterson SS | ARI

Athletics' Jace Peterson: First multi-hit effort of season

Peterson went 2-for-4 with a double in a loss to the Orioles on Monday.

Peterson's multi-hit effort was both the only one of the night for the Athletics and the first of the season for the veteran, who's now hit safely in three of the last four games. The 32-year-old has a ways to go toward a palatable slash line, however, as he's still carrying figures of .172/.194/.310 over his first 31 plate appearances.

  • Max Muncy 3B | LAD

Dodgers' Max Muncy: Hits two homers, knocks in seven

Muncy went 3-for-3 with a three-run home run and a grand slam in Monday's 9-1 victory over the Giants.

Muncy smoked a three-run shot off Logan Webb in the third and a grand slam off Sean Hjelle in the seventh, marking his second and third homers of the season, respectively. Coming into the contest, Muncy had just four hits over his first 33 at-bats, so Monday's prolific outing was certainly a welcome sight for fantasy managers.

  • Jose Ramirez 3B | CLE

Guardians' Jose Ramirez: Nabs steal as hitting streak ends

Ramirez went 0-for-4 with a stolen base in Monday's 3-2 win over the Yankees.

Ramirez's season-opening hitting streak ended at 10 games, but he was able to pick up his fourth steal in as many attempts through 11 contests. The third baseman is still looking for his first home run, but he has five extra-base hits and is slashing .273/.377/.409 through 53 plate appearances.

  • Anthony Rendon 3B | LAA

Angels' Anthony Rendon: Late scratch Monday

Rendon won't play Monday against the Nationals due to left shoulder soreness, Rhett Bollinger of MLB.com reports.

Rendon was initially slated to draw the start at the hot corner, but he'll take a seat due to the shoulder issue. He may have picked up the injury Sunday after being struck by a pitch. Gio Urshela draws the start at third and will bat seventh in Rendon's absence.

  • Nationals' Ildemaro Vargas: Dealing with stiff shoulder

Vargas is currently dealing with a stiff shoulder and is scheduled to be checked out by trainers Monday, Andrew Golden of The Washington Post reports.

The Nationals are also without Luis Garcia (hamstring), so while Vargas would seem like a natural replacement for the infielder, he's sitting with the shoulder problems while Michael Chavis handles second base. Vargas should be considered day-to-day until the Nationals determine the next step for the 31-year-old veteran.

  • Yoan Moncada 3B | LAA

White Sox's Yoan Moncada: Out Monday with back soreness

Moncada sat out Monday's game against the Twins with back soreness, Daryl Van Schouwen of the Chicago Sun-Times reports.

Moncada got the day off with Hanser Alberto handling the hot corner in the victory over Minnesota. The switch-hitting infielder should be considered day-to-day with a chance to return Tuesday against the Twins.

  • Josh Jung 3B | TEX

Rangers' Josh Jung: Gets Monday off

Jung is out of the lineup for Monday's game against the Royals.

Jung will be on the bench for the first time all season, opening up third base for Josh Smith. While starting in each of Texas' first nine games, Jung has hit .229 with two home runs, five RBI and five runs while striking out at a manageable 24.3 percent clip.

  • Taylor Walls SS | TB

Rays' Taylor Walls: Has elbow tendinitis

Rays manager Kevin Cash said Monday that Walls is dealing with tendinitis in his left elbow, Marc Topkin of the Tampa Bay Times reports.

The good news for Walls is that the injury is to his non-throwing elbow, and he doesn't have any structural damage. The Rays are hopeful that Walls will be available to play in a day or two, though he doesn't look like he'll be an option for Monday's series opener versus Boston.
