Tyler Freeman RF | COL
Guardians' Tyler Freeman: Hurts shoulder Tuesday
Freeman didn't appear in Wednesday's 3-2 win over the Tigers due to an apparent left shoulder injury, Joe Noga of The Cleveland Plain Dealer reports.
Though neither Freeman nor Amed Rosario (back) have been placed on the injured list, their poor health explains why the Guardians felt compelled to call up top middle-infield prospect Brayan Rocchio from Triple-A Columbus ahead of Wednesday's game. After being recalled ahead of Tuesday's doubleheader to help replace an ailing Rosario at shortstop, Freeman went 2-for-4 at the dish in the Guardians' 4-3 loss in Game 1 but appeared to hurt his shoulder while defending a stolen-base attempt in the fourth inning. After a team off day Thursday, the Guardians will presumably reassess both Rosario and Freeman before determining whether either infielder requires a stint on the IL.

Josh Donaldson 3B | MIL
Yankees' Josh Donaldson: Off rehab, gets MRI
Donaldson said Wednesday that he has been pulled off his rehab assignment at Double-A Somerset and underwent an MRI on his ailing right hamstring following a setback, Bryan Hoch of MLB.com reports.
Donaldson felt his hamstring tighten up again while playing in his first rehab game with Somerset on Tuesday. The results of the MRI aren't in yet, but he'll have his timeline for a return pushed back at least a few days while his status is in limbo. Even if his setback results in only a brief time away from his rehab assignment, Donaldson could struggle to make it back from the 10-day injured list before the end of April.

Jace Peterson SS | ARI
Athletics' Jace Peterson: Sits in series finale
Peterson is out of the lineup for Wednesday's game against the Cubs.
After he was limited to a pinch-hitting role in Monday's 10-1 loss while he tended to a wrist injury, Peterson rejoined the lineup for Tuesday's 4-0 loss and went 0-for-1 with a trio of walks. He'll be back on the bench for the series finale, but the lefty-hitting Peterson's absence likely has more to do with a southpaw (Justin Steele) being on the hill for Chicago rather than any concern about the wrist.

Ramon Urias 3B | STL
Orioles' Ramon Urias: Returns to lineup
Urias (ear) is back in the lineup for Wednesday's game versus the Nationals, starting at second base and batting fifth, Jacob Calvin Meyer of The Baltimore Sun reports.
Urias is making his first start since Saturday after a bruised and sore ear kept him on the bench for the past two games. Adam Frazier will drop out of the lineup to clear room at the keystone for Urias.

Eduardo Escobar 3B | TOR
Mets' Eduardo Escobar: Losing work to Baty
Escobar is out of the lineup for Wednesday's game against the Dodgers.
He'll sit against Dodgers right-hander Noah Syndergaard, marking the second time in three days that Escobar has exited the lineup when a righty has taken the hill for the opposition. Escobar's recent usage confirms that he's faded into a short-side platoon role at third base following the recent promotion of the lefty-hitting Brett Baty to the majors.

Jace Peterson SS | ARI
Athletics' Jace Peterson: Draws three walks in return
Peterson (wrist) made his return from a one-game absence in Tuesday's loss to the Cubs and went 0-for-1 with three walks.
The disciplined night at the plate pushed Peterson's OBP over the .300 threshold for the first time all season. The veteran is still hitting just .200 over his first 59 plate appearances, but his 13.6 percent walk rate qualifies as the second-highest figure of his career.

Edmundo Sosa 2B | PHI
Phillies' Edmundo Sosa: Visiting doctor
Sosa (back) will be examined by a doctor in Chicago on Wednesday, Alex Coffey of The Philadelphia Inquirer reports.
Sosa hasn't played since Saturday because of a sore back. The expectation is that he will be available off the bench Wednesday in an emergency, so it sounds like he's still expected to avoid the injured list.

Yoan Moncada 3B | LAA
White Sox's Yoan Moncada: Not expected back this week
White Sox manager Pedro Grifol said Wednesday that Moncada (back) isn't expected to return from the 10-day injured list by the end of the week, Daryl Van Schouwen of the Chicago Sun-Times reports.
Moncada will need a rehab assignment before being activated, and it's not clear when he'll be ready to report to an affiliate. Grifol has said that the team wants to make sure the third baseman is 100 percent recovered from his back issue before returning from the IL, so it's clear the White Sox are proceeding cautiously. Jake Burger's strong play at the hot corner allows the White Sox to be deliberate with Moncada.

Matt Chapman 3B | SF
Blue Jays' Matt Chapman: Belts fifth homer
Chapman went 2-for-4 with a double and a solo home run in Tuesday's win over the Astros.
The 29-year-old seems intent on re-defining what it means to have a contract year. Chapman is slashing a blistering .415/.472/.785 through 17 games with nine doubles, five homers, 13 runs and 17 RBI, and his hot streak has him hitting consistently in the heart of Toronto's high-octane offense. His .489 BABIP isn't sustainable, but with Chapman striking out at a career-low 20.8 percent rate and sporting a 100th percentile barrel rate when he makes contact, his production so far can't be written off as purely a small-sample fluke.

Edmundo Sosa 2B | PHI
Phillies' Edmundo Sosa: Remains on bench Wednesday
Sosa (back) is out of the lineup for Wednesday's game against the White Sox.
Sosa hasn't made an appearance since exiting Saturday's 13-0 loss to the Reds with back discomfort, paving the way for Josh Harrison to pick up more work at third base. Though he'll be on the bench for the fourth consecutive game, Sosa doesn't appear to be at risk of a trip to the injured list. According to Corey Seidman of NBC Sports Philadelphia, Sosa is considered day-to-day and would have been available off the bench for Tuesday's doubleheader in an emergency situation.
