  • Jose Miranda 3B | MIN

Twins' Jose Miranda: Getting day off

Miranda is out of the lineup for Wednesday's game against the Rays.

Miranda will head to the bench Wednesday, but he should have a relatively firm grasp on a near-everyday role for the Twins after Minnesota recently optioned Alex Kirilloff (back) to the minors before reversing the transaction and placing him on the 10-day injured list. The 26-year-old has earned his way into steadier playing time by maintaining an .875 OPS through his first 15 games of June.

  • Ernie Clement SS | TOR

Blue Jays' Ernie Clement: Hitting bench Wednesday

Clement is out of the lineup for Wednesday's game against the Red Sox.

Clement had started at third base in each of the past three games, but he'll give way to Addison Barger for the series finale. Isiah Kiner-Falefa has paced the Blue Jays with 33 starts at the hot corner this season, but he's likely to see most of his playing time at shortstop for the foreseeable future while Bo Bichette (calf) is on the injured list. Rather than leaning on Clement as its everyday third baseman during Bichette's absence, Toronto could opt to use a committee of Clement, Barger and Orelvis Martinez at the position.

  • Orioles' Jordan Westburg: Out of lineup Wednesday

Westburg (hip) isn't in the lineup for Wednesday's game against the Yankees.

Westburg was forced from Tuesday's 4-2 loss with a bruised left hip following a collision on the infield with Yankees outfielder Juan Soto. He's considered day-to-day, and it's possible he'll be available off the bench for Wednesday's contest. Ramon Urias will fill in for Westburg at third base.

  • Nolan Arenado 3B | ARI

Cardinals' Nolan Arenado: Suffers right elbow contusion

The Cardinals announced that Arenado was removed in the top of the eighth inning of Wednesday's game against the Marlins due to a right elbow contusion.

Initial X-rays on Arenado's elbow appear to have returned negative, but he'll undergo further medical evaluation as the Cardinals look to ascertain that he's not dealing with anything more than a bruise. Before he was lifted from the game for a pitch runner after being hit in the elbow by a 94 mile-per-hour sinker during his fourth plate appearance of the day, Arenado went 2-for-3 with his first stolen base of the season and a run scored.

  • Nolan Arenado 3B | ARI

Cardinals' Nolan Arenado: Leaves following HBP on elbow

Arenado was removed from Wednesday's game in Miami after being hit by a pitch on the right elbow, Lynn Worthy of the St. Louis Post-Dispatch reports. He went 2-for-3 with his first stolen base of the season and a run scored prior to exiting the game.

A Huascar Brazoban offering in the top of the eighth inning caught Arenado, who went down in a heap. He looked to be in considerable pain and eventually exited the field with a trainer. The Cardinals should have more on his condition shortly.

  • Nick Maton DH | CHW

Orioles' Nick Maton: Moves up to big club

The Orioles selected Maton's contract from Triple-A Norfolk on Wednesday.

Outfielder Kyle Stowers was optioned to Triple-A to make room on the 26-man active roster for Maton, who will give the Orioles some extra coverage in the infield while Jordan Westburg is day-to-day with a bruised hip. Even if Westburg doesn't heal as quickly as expected and eventually moves to the injured list, Ramon Urias would likely be in line ahead of Maton for a regular role in the infield. Maton had produced a .294/.387/.483 slash line and seven home runs over 168 plate appearances with Norfolk.

  • Nick Senzel 3B | LAD

Nationals' Nick Senzel: Not in Washington lineup

Senzel is absent from the lineup for Wednesday's game against the Diamondbacks.

Senzel is hitless over his last five games, so he will be given a day off to regroup. Trey Lipscomb will start at third base in Senzel's stead.

  • Reds' Jeimer Candelario: On bench again Wednesday

Candelario (tendinitis) is out of the lineup for Wednesday's game against the Pirates.

Candelario will be on the bench for the second game in a row while he deals with unspecified tendinitis. Reds manager David Bell already said that Candelario isn't at any major risk of landing on the injured list, so the expectation is that the veteran corner infielder will be good to go for Friday's series opener versus the Red Sox coming out of Thursday's team off day.

  • Matt Vierling RF | DET

Tigers' Matt Vierling: Getting day off

Vierling is out of the lineup for Wednesday's game in Atlanta, Chris McCosky of The Detroit News reports.

Vierling had made 13 consecutive starts and the Tigers are wrapping up their series with a day game after a night game, so the 27-year-old is presumably just getting some routine maintenance. With Vierling on the bench, the Tigers will open up a spot in the starting outfield for Akil Baddoo, who will man left and bat eighth.

  • Ezequiel Duran SS | TEX

Rangers' Ezequiel Duran: Makes 11th straight start

Duran started at third base and went 2-for-4 with two runs scored in Tuesday's 7-6 loss to the Mets.

Duran was in the starting lineup for the 11th consecutive game and the 17th time in the last 18 contests. He's filled in at first base against left-handers, then helped cover the left side of the infield, where Corey Seager and Josh Smith have battled injuries. Smith returned as the designated hitter Tuesday, which could spell the end of Duran's streak in the starting nine. Eventually, when third baseman Josh Jung (wrist) returns, there will be a reduction in Duran's opportunities.
