Pauley went 1-for-2 with a double and an RBI in Friday's loss to the Pirates.

The 24-year-old has started back-to-back games at third base for the Marlins to begin the season, going 2-for-6 with a strikeout while batting at the bottom of the order. Pauley appears to be Miami's top option at the hot corner while Connor Norby (oblique) is on the shelf, but Eric Wagaman -- who pinch hit for Pauley in the seventh inning against southpaw Caleb Ferguson -- and Jonah Bride could get short-side platoon work at the position as well.

Dunn isn't in the lineup for Saturday's game against the Yankees.

With the Brewers set to face a lefty (Max Fried) for a second consecutive game to open their season, the lefty-hitting Dunn will remain on the bench Saturday while Vinny Capra starts at the hot corner and bats eighth.

Urias hit a pinch-hit home run in Friday's victory over Seattle.

Urias lost out on a starting job at both third base and second base this spring, but he will be used in a utility infield role. The 27-year-old slashed only .191/.303/.394 in 41 games with Seattle last season but clubbed 39 home runs for the Brewers from 2021 to 2022.

Cabrera is out of the lineup for Saturday's game against the Brewers.

Cabrera registered only a .469 OPS against left-handers last season, so he'll step out of the starting nine Saturday with Nestor Cortes due to take the mound for Milwaukee. Pablo Reyes will draw the start at third base and bat seventh.

Suarez went 2-for-4 with two home runs and four RBI in Friday's 8-1 win over the Cubs.

Both long balls came off Jameson Taillon, as Suarez belted a two-run homer to left-center field in the second inning and then did it again to almost the exact same spot in the fourth, with the total distance of the blasts coming in at 854 feet. Suarez has gone yard three times in Arizona's first two games, giving him an early jump on putting together his sixth career 30-homer campaign.

McMahon went 3-for-3 with a double, two singles and a walk in a 3-2 loss to the Rays on Friday.

The third baseman was a problem for Tampa pitching and should benefit from hitting behind Brenton Doyle and Ezequiel Tovar in the Colorado lineup. McMahon has hit 20-plus homers every year since 2019 -- except for the pandemic-shortened 2020 season in which he hit nine in 52 games.

The Pirates recalled Valdez from Triple-A Indianapolis on Friday.

With Nick Gonzales (ankle) headed for the injured list, the Pirates will bring Valdez up from the minors to replenish their infield depth. The 26-year-old is likely to remain on the bench most days while Adam Frazier starts at the keystone until Gonzales returns.

Urias is absent from the lineup for Friday's contest versus the Orioles.

Urias got the start at third base in Thursday's opener, going 0-for-4 with a walk. The Orioles are slotting Jordan Westburg in at third Friday while Jackson Holliday plays second base and Jorge Mateo handles shortstop.

Clement is absent from the lineup for Friday's contest versus the Orioles.

Clement got the call at third base in the opener and went hitless in three trips to the plate. The Blue Jays are going with Will Wagner at third base in the second game of the series while Clement heads to the bench.

Mead is starting at first base and batting leadoff in Friday's opener versus the Rockies.

Mead was one of the best hitters in all of baseball during spring training, going a ridiculous 22-for-42 (.524) with one home run and a 6:6 K:BB. The Rays have rewarded him by slotting him at the top of their batting order in their opener against southpaw Kyle Freeland. Much of Mead's playing time is likely to come versus lefties, but he could hit his way into a bigger workload if he gets off to a hot start.
