After serving strictly as a pinch runner during the team's first four contests, Newman has made three starts in the last five games.

He made three errors Monday and his fielding percentage (.700) is now barely above his OPS (.697). Newman gained some credibility with a walkoff double Saturday, but gave some of it back with Monday's struggles. Fellow shortstop Erik Gonzalez is hitting .160 in 25 at-bats, leaving the door open for Newman. The 2015 first-round draft pick, who has three hits in 11 at-bats, could see more time provided he picks up his defense.

Candelario is out of the lineup for Wednesday's game against the Indians, Jason Beck of MLB.com reports.

With zero hits in 15 at-bats over his last five starts, Candelario has seen his season average drop below the Mendoza Line (.195). The Tigers won't pull the plug on Candelario in an everyday role at third base, but he'll get a mental break and avoid a tough matchup against Indians right-hander Trevor Bauer. Gordon Beckham will fill in for Candelario at the hot corner.

Wisdom started at third base and went 1-for-4 with three strikeouts in Tuesday's 5-4 loss to Arizona.

Wisdom got the start as Asdrubel Cabrera was given the day off after criss-crossing the country to be sworn in as an American citizen in Miami. Cabrera is expected to play Wednesday while Wisdom retreats to the bench. In addition to backup duty at third base, Wisdom will share first base with Logan Forsythe while Ronald Guzman (hamstring) is sidelined on the 10-day injured list.

Moustakas went 1-for-2 with two walks, a two-run home run and a second run scored in Tuesday's 11-8 win over the Angels.

The 30-year-old has gone yard in consecutive games, giving him four homers on the year to go along with two doubles -- and only two singles, saddling Moustakas with a .211 batting average through 12 contests. That number should rise as the season progresses, but his power production will remain his biggest selling point as a fantasy asset.

Rendon went 2-for-4 with a double, a run scored and two RBI in Tuesday's 10-6 win at Philadelphia.

Rendon started things off with a sacrifice fly during the first inning and then came through with an RBI double in the sixth. The 29-year-old now owns a nine-game hit streak in which he is 16-for-34 with 13 runs scored, 11 RBI, four home runs and six doubles.

Duffy (hamstring/back) has still not resumed any baseball activities but is getting closer to doing so, Juan Toribio of MLB.com reports.

The oft-injured infielder is dealing with multiple injuries, and his possible return date is currently projected as early-to-mid May in a best-case scenario. The report from manager Kevin Cash that Duffy is getting closer to resuming baseball activities is encouraging, but he'll presumably still face a multi-week rehab process even when he reaches that benchmark.

Suarez went 3-for-5 with a solo homer in a 14-0 victory against the Marlins on Tuesday.

The Reds have really struggled offensively this season, but they were probably due for a night like this. Cincinnati exploded for 14 runs on 16 hits, including four homers. Suarez accounted for three of those hits, raising his season average to .258. He also has two homers, four RBI and three runs in 10 games this season.

Bregman left Tuesday's game against the Yankees after tweaking his right hamstring, Julia Morales of AT&T SportsNet Southwest reports.

Bregman sustained the the injury running the bases and was removed during the eighth inning. The 25-year-old is likely to be out of the lineup for Wednesday's series finale so he can take advantage of the following off-day. Bregman hopes to be ready for Friday's game at Seattle.

Moncada went 2-for-5 with a two-run homer and two runs in a 10-5 loss to the Rays on Tuesday.

The 23-year-old went a bit cold over the weekend, going 1-for-14 in the three games prior to Tuesday, but it's nice to see the youngster avoid a prolonged slump. He's had a strong start, hitting .326 with a .628 slugging percentage and 13 RBI this season. He also has three homers and 11 runs in 10 games.

Kieboom went 4-for-5 with a double, a triple, a run scored, an RBI and a stolen base for Triple-A Fresno on Monday.

The 21-year-old didn't take long to adjust to his new level of competition. Kieboom's still looking for his first homer, but that shouldn't take long, especially with regular action in the hitter-friendly parks of the PCL. The Nats have made it clear they don't want to rush Kieboom to the majors, even with Trea Turner (finger) sidelined, but as the organization showed last year with Juan Soto, it won't hesitate to pull the trigger if the club has a need and a top prospect proves to be ready for the next challenge.
