Machado went 1-for-4 with a base hit, a walk, an RBI and a run Tuesday in the Padres' 5-4 loss to the Yankees.

Machado has now put together an eight-game hitting streak and has reached base in all but one of his last 20 starts. While there's something to be said about that sort of consistency, Machado has provided little during that 20-game stretch beyond a high average (.319) and on-base percentage (.400). Only five of his 23 hits in that span have gone for extra bases, while the many slumping bats surrounding him in the lineup have limited him to eight RBI and seven runs. Machado will look to keep the streak going in Wednesday's series finale, as he'll start at shortstop and bat third against Yankees southpaw James Paxton.

Ramirez went 2-for-3 with two walks and two stolen bases in a 7-5 victory against the Red Sox on Tuesday.

The two-hit night brought his average back above the Mendoza Line. Sitting with just a .609 OPS, Ramirez has been a major disappointment, but despite a .308 on-base percentage, he's still managed to swipe 14 bags this year, second most in the American League. Ramirez's struggles at the plate date back to last year. Since Aug. 31, 2018, Ramirez is batting .185 in 303 at-bats, including the postseason. He does have hits in five of his last six games, so maybe he's pulling out of it, but right now, Ramirez is in the midst of the biggest slump of his career. Overall, he is batting .204 with four home runs, 15 RBI and 17 runs in 196 at-bats this season.

Bregman went 2-for-4 with a walk, two home runs, three runs scored and three RBI in Tuesday's 9-6 win over the Cubs.

The injury-ravaged Astros still possess plenty of firepower, as Bregman demonstrated by launching a solo shot off Jon Lester in the third inning and a two-run blast off Brad Brach in the sixth that proved to be the game-winning hit. Bregman's now slashing .271/.395/.573 through 54 games with 17 homers and 38 RBI.

Escobar went 2-for-5 with a solo home run and an RBI single in Tuesday's 6-2 loss to the Rockies.

Escobar's homer opened the scoring in the third inning, and he retied the game at two runs each in the fifth inning. During a seven-game hitting streak, the infielder has gone 12-for-32 with two homers, 11 RBI and six runs scored. For the year, the 30-year-old is hitting .290 with 13 homers, putting him on pace to blow past his career-high 23 homers from last year.

Riley went 3-for-4 with a two-run home run in Tuesday's 5-4 loss to the Nationals.

The rookie took Kyle Barraclough deep in the eighth inning to bring his team to within a single run, but Atlanta couldn't get any closer. Riley is now slashing a remarkable .365/.400/.750 through his first 13 MLB games with six homers and 16 RBI.

Newman went 1-for-4 with a grand slam Tuesday against the Reds.

Newman took Lucas Sims deep in eighth inning for the first home run of his career. While he hasn't shown much power upside, he's hit well this season and has started five of the team's last seven games as a result. He's taken advantage by recording at least one hit in all five contests. While Newman's .333/.400/.486 line is likely to come down, he's making the case to overtake the struggling Cole Tucker as the team's starting shortstop.

Duffy (hamstring), who will see Dallas-area specialist Dr. Dan Cooper on Wednesday, does not expect to require surgery and anticipates playing at some point this season, Marc Topkin of the Tampa Bay Times reports.

Duffy has battled hamstring injuries since early in camp and has dealt with a number of setbacks. It's good news that he doesn't expect the latest issue to be season-ending, but athletes tend to skew optimistic when it comes to their own injuries. A clearer picture of his return timeline should emerge once he's evaluated by a doctor.

Candelario was recalled from Triple-A Toledo Tuesday.

Candelario struggled mightily in his time with the Tigers early in the season, hitting .192/.285/.288 through 38 games before being demoted. He appears to have figured things out in the minors, hitting .357/.481/.667 in 11 games for Toledo. Spencer Turnbull landed on the bereavement list in a corresponding move.

Urshela will sit Tuesday against the Padres, Lindsey Adler of The Athletic reports.

After a surprisingly hot start to his Yankees' career, Urshela has fallen off a bit lately, hitting .286/.328/.321 in his last 16 games. DJ LeMahieu gets the start at third base, with Thairo Estrada starting at second.

Chapman went 2-for-4 with a solo home run -- his 14th of the season -- Monday in the Athletics' 8-5 win over the Angels.

For the third consecutive game, Chapman homered as part of a two-hit effort. The recent surge has been a reassuring sign for fantasy managers who may have started to lose faith in Chapman after he slashed .202/.275/.384 with only three long balls in his prior 23 contests.
