  • Brian Anderson RF | ATL

Marlins' Brian Anderson: Day-to-day with hand bruise

Anderson has been diagnosed with a bruised left hand after being hit by a pitch during Friday's game against Philadelphia, Jordan McPherson of the Miami Herald reports.

Anderson will likely be evaluated upon his arrival at the ballpark Saturday, and it's certainly possible for him to return to the starting nine Saturday if he checks out OK.

  • Brian Anderson RF | ATL

    Marlins' Brian Anderson: Exits early

Anderson was removed from Friday's game against the Phillies after being hit by a pitch on his left hand, Andre Fernandez of The Athletic reports.

Anderson initially remained in the game after getting drilled, but he was eventually replaced by Harold Ramirez. Anderson is likely headed for X-rays to determine the extent of the injury.

  • Jace Peterson SS | ARI

Orioles' Jace Peterson: Out of Friday's lineup

Peterson is not in the lineup for Friday's game against Tampa Bay, Roch Kubatko of MASN Sports reports.

Peterson started four of the last five contests, but he'll take a seat Friday as he is 3-for-20 since Aug. 14. DJ Stewart, Anthony Santander and Trey Mancini will start from left to right in the outfield for the Orioles.

  • Tigers' Jeimer Candelario: Activated, optioned to Triple-A

Candelario (thumb) was reinstated from the 10-day injured list and optioned to Triple-A Toledo on Friday.

Candelario recorded multiple hits in three of his last four rehab games with Toledo and homered Thursday, but he had been in a bad way before landing on the IL (.156/.235/.234 in his last 20 games), so the Tigers will keep him down and have him work out the kinks until rosters expand. Dawel Lugo has been starting at third base for the big-league club.

  • Kevin Newman 3B | LAA

Pirates' Kevin Newman: Collects pair of hits Thursday

Newman went 2-for-4 and stole his 11th base of the season Thursday against the Nationals.

The stolen base was just his second in August. He's slashing .231/.286/.323 for the month, concurrent with the team's overall struggles. Despite his recent falloff, Newman continues to see regular playing time and appears set to start at shortstop or second base in 2020. Overall, he's hitting .298 with seven homers and 42 RBI in 363 at-bats.

  • Anthony Rendon 3B | LAA

Nationals' Anthony Rendon: Sets new career high in RBI

Rendon went 2-for-5 with a solo home run in a 7-1 victory against the Pirates on Thursday.

In his last three games against the Pirates, Rendon raked, going 7-for-12 (.583) with two extra-base hits and four RBI. The Pirates are hardly the only team he's crushed, though, as Rendon is batting .354 with 10 extra-base hits this month. Rendon has already hit a career high in home runs and reached a new best in RBI with the solo shot Thursday; he is on pace to do the same in the runs and average categories too. He is batting .324 with 28 home runs, 101 RBI, 91 runs and three steals in 432 at-bats this season.

  • Alex Bregman 3B | CHC

Astros' Alex Bregman: Cranks 31st homer

Bregman went 2-for-4 with a two-run home run in Thursday's win over the Tigers.

Bregman slugged a two-run shot in the fourth inning to give the Astros the first lead of the game. He also singled in the sixth. The 25-year-old shortstop has now tied a career best of 31 home runs while slashing .279/.407/.558 with 95 runs scored and 85 RBI.

  • Yoan Moncada 3B | LAA

White Sox's Yoan Moncada: Homers in return

Moncada went 2-for-4 with a two-run home run and a double in Thursday's win over the Rangers.

In his return from the injured list due to a hamstring injury, Moncada batted cleanup and hit his 21st homer of the season, this time off Ariel Jurado in the third inning. The 24-year-old, who was out since July 31 with a strained right hamstring, also doubled in the fifth. Over 98 games this season, Moncada is slugging .303/.359/.545 with 22 doubles and 61 RBI.

  • Jake Burger 1B | TEX

White Sox's Jake Burger: Hopes to play in instructs

Burger (Achilles) is hoping to be able to play in the instructional league this fall, James Fegan of The Athletic reports.

He originally had been targeting making it back before the end of the AZL season, but that no longer seems realistic. Burger has not played in a game since 2017 due to multiple Achilles injuries.

  • Yoan Moncada 3B | LAA

White Sox's Yoan Moncada: Reinstated from IL

Moncada (hamstring) was reinstated from the 10-day injured list prior to Thursday's game against the Rangers.

As expected, Moncada is set to make his return for this four-game home series against Texas. He has been sidelined since July 30 with the hamstring injury. Moncada hit .409 with two home runs in five games during a rehab assignment. Ryan Goins will presumably move to a bench role.
