Manager Aaron Boone indicated Saturday that LeMahieu's sprained thumb could send him to the injured list, Bryan Hoch of MLB.com reports.

LeMahieu underwent an X-ray after leaving Saturday's game against the the Red Sox, which came back negative. While that's encouraging, he's yet to receive the results of his CT scan and MRI, and Boone didn't seem particularly confident that LeMahieu's injury was a minor one. The second baseman dealt with a similar injury in 2018 and wound up missing just over two weeks.

LeMahieu was diagnosed with a sprained left thumb Saturday and will undergo further tests.

LeMahieu appeared to be in some discomfort following a swing in the fourth inning, though he remained in the game until the sixth, when he was replaced by Tyler Wade. LeMahieu's timeline should become clearer once the results of his tests are known.

The exact nature of LeMahieu's injury is not yet clear, but he appeared to be dealing with some discomfort following a swing earlier in the game. Candelario will serve as the Tigers' everyday first baseman after C.J. Cron (knee) elected to have season-ending surgery Saturday, Chris McCosky of The Detroit News reports.

Candelario had already seen the majority of playing time at third base to begin the season, but he'll serve as the everyday first baseman going forward. The 26-year-old has recorded multiple hits in five of his last nine contests while posting a 1.156 OPS with six extra-base hits and five RBI during that time.

Rendon went 1-for-2 with a home run and two walks in Friday's loss to the Dodgers.

Rendon took Clayton Kershaw deep in the bottom of the fifth inning, and that was the only hit the Angels could muster against the star left-hander. Rendon has endured a tough start to his Angels tenure, but he has been turning things around of late and is currently riding a four-game hitting streak while also homering in each of his last four games.

Moncada (undisclosed) is back in the lineup for Game 1 of Saturday's doubleheader against the Cardinals.

Moncada missed Wednesday's game against the Tigers while dealing with general soreness, but he'll be healthy enough to take part in the first game of Saturday's twin bill. He'll bat second during the afternoon contest.

Donaldson (calf) has been making progress towards his return but is still feeling some soreness and remains without a clear return date, Aaron Gleeman of The Athletic reports.

The veteran third baseman played just seven games this season before the injury bug bit him, something that's happened frequently in recent seasons. It's certainly good news that he's finally making progress, as reports from earlier in the week suggested that things were moving very slowly, but his return doesn't appear imminent.

Wisdom was placed on unconditional release waivers by the Mariners on Friday.

Wisdom was designated for assignment Monday after failing to appear in any games with the Mariners. The 28-year-old will now be free to search for a new team, but it's unclear whether he'll find a spot on another major-league roster during the 2020 season.

Muncy will be on the bench Friday against the Angels.

Muncy had started each of the Dodgers' first 20 games but hadn't had much success at the plate, hitting .169/.289/.351. Edwin Rios will be the first baseman Friday, with Enrique Hernandez starting at second.

Escobar is out of the lineup Friday against the Padres.

The 31-year-old was out of the lineup for the first time this season Sunday, and he'll return to the bench Friday after going 3-for-15 with two RBI and four strikeouts in the past three games. Escobar has a .470 OPS and 25 percent strikeout rate through 75 plate appearances this season. Andy Young will start at the hot corner for Arizona.
