Peterson went 2-for-3 with a home run, two RBI and a walk in Wednesday's 4-2 win over the Padres.

Peterson started Wednesday after slugging a pinch-hit home run Tuesday. The 30-year-old produced his first multi-hit game of the season and homered in the sixth inning off Keone Kela. Peterson is taking full advantage of the opportunities currently afforded by injuries to multiple Brewers starters.

Urshela exited Wednesday's loss to the Braves with tightness in his lower back, though manager Aaron Boone said the third baseman isn't scheduled to undergo any medical testing, Bryan Hoch of MLB.com reports.

The 29-year-old went 1-for-3 before leaving the contest with the injury, and he should be considered day-to-day for the time being. DJ LeMahieu could be shifted to play third base should Urshela be forced to miss any time.

Castro is making his MLB debut in Game 2 of Wednesday's doubleheader against the Pirates. He is starting at third base and batting eighth.

The Pirates protected Castro from the Rule 5 draft by adding him to the 40-man roster this past offseason, and that will enable him to make his MLB debut before playing a game at Double-A or Triple-A. Castro hits the ball really hard but has some major swing-and-miss concerns. He can play second base in addition to the hot corner and will likely head back to the minors in the near future.

Marlins manager Don Mattingly said Wednesday that Anderson is "a little nicked up" with a side issue, Jordan McPherson of the Miami Herald reports.

Several position players for the Marlins are dealing with injuries, so Mattingly elected to hold Anderson out of the lineup Wednesday to help preserve his long-term health. The injury doesn't sound like a significant concern, but it's not yet clear whether Anderson will return to action for Thursday's series opener against San Francisco.

Angels manager Joe Maddon said that Rendon (groin) doesn't have a definitive return date from the 10-day injured list, but the skipper believes the third baseman is "getting really, really close" to being activated, Jack Harris of the Los Angeles Times reports.

Maddon's comments came after Rendon went through some light pregame work on the field Wednesday, which included fielding grounders and throwing across the diamond. The Angels may want to see Rendon ramp up his running program before they're comfortable activating him, but he at least looks to be in the day-to-day stage of his recovery at this point. It's not out of the question for Rendon to make his return to the lineup at some point during the Angels' four-game series in Houston over the weekend.

Astudillo will start at first base and bat sixth Wednesday against the Athletics.

Astudillo is in the lineup for a third straight game, this time filling in for the injured Miguel Sano (hamstring) after making his previous two starts at second base. Even if Sano is back in action for the Twins' next game Friday versus the Pirates, Astudillo should still be a decent bet to pick up steady work at the keystone. The Twins' primary option at second base, Jorge Polanco, is mostly working at shortstop these days since Andrelton Simmons tested positive for COVID-19 a week ago.

Toro is out of the lineup Wednesday against the Rockies, Chandler Rome of the Houston Chronicle reports.

Toro picked up a pair of starts last week after Alex Bregman missed five games while on the COVID-19 injured list, but the former likely won't see much use going forward after Bregman was reinstated from the IL on Wednesday. With the Triple-A season set to begin in May, Toro likely won't remain with the big club much longer, as the organization still wants him to play on an everyday basis in the minors.

Castro was recalled by the Pirates on Wednesday.

Castro was sent down by the Pirates in mid-March and hasn't yet played above High-A. However, he'll join the major-league roster after Anthony Alford was designated for assignment in a corresponding move. Castro hit .136 with two home runs and six RBI this spring and should mainly serve in a depth role for the Pirates.

Segura was placed on the 10-day injured list Wednesday due to a right quadriceps strain, Scott Lauber of The Philadelphia Inquirer reports.

Segura exited Tuesday's game against San Francisco due to the injury and underwent an MRI on Wednesday. The 31-year-old will be eligible to return from the injured list as early as May 1, but it's not clear whether he'll be healthy enough to do so. Brad Miller will start at second base against the Giants on Wednesday, while Scott Kingery was recalled in a corresponding move.

Giants manager Gabe Kapler said Longoria would be rested for Wednesday's game in Philadelphia, Susan Slusser of the San Francisco Chronicle reports.

San Francisco is closing out its series in Philadelphia with a day game, so the 35-year-old Longoria will just be getting some routine maintenance. He provided a pair of doubles and scored twice across his nine at-bats over the first two games of the series.
