  • Jake Burger 1B | TEX

White Sox's Jake Burger: Takes seat Sunday

Burger is not in Sunday's lineup against the Tigers.

Burger will rest for the first time this season after starting at third base in each of Chicago's first two games in the absence of Yoan Moncada (oblique). Josh Harrison will shift over to third base, with Danny Mendick entering the lineup to start at second base while hitting ninth.

  • Jean Segura 3B | CLE

Phillies' Jean Segura: Swats first homer

Segura went 2-for-4 with a solo home run in Saturday's 4-2 victory versus Oakland.

Segura was one of three Phillies to go deep in the contest, as his sixth-inning solo shot accounted for the team's final run of the game. The veteran infielder belted 14 homers last season -- the most he has totaled since the 2016 season. Segura is off to a strong start in 2022, going 3-for-7 with two extra-base hits and two runs over two games.

  • Ramon Urias 3B | STL

Orioles' Ramon Urias: Second double in as many games

Urias went 2-for-4 with a double and a run scored in Saturday's 5-3 loss to the Rays.

Urias has gone 3-for-8 across the first two games of the season, and two of his hits have been doubles. That's a continuation of a strong spring for the infielder, who has earned a starting role out of the gates. Urias started at second base Friday against lefty Shane McClanahan, then moved over to the hot corner with a righty (Drew Rasmussen) on the bump Saturday. If that arrangement continues, it'll leave Rougned Odor and Kelvin Gutierrez in part-time roles to begin the season.

  • Nolan Arenado 3B | ARI

    Cardinals' Nolan Arenado: Doubles thrice

Arenado went 4-for-4 with three doubles, two runs scored and three RBI in a 6-2 win Saturday over Pittsburgh.

Arenado's three doubles came off three different pitchers and the third baseman now has four extra-base hits in the first two games of the season. The perennial All-Star has hit 30 doubles, 30 home runs and driven in 100 runs in each of the last six 162-game seasons and seems well on his way to that feat with his start to 2022. He has hit third or fourth in the lineup in every start since joining the Cardinals and there's no reason to think that will change anytime soon.

  • Alex Bregman 3B | CHC

    Astros' Alex Bregman: Resting Saturday

Bregman will sit Saturday against the Angels.

Bregman underwent wrist surgery in November but showed no ill effects in the first two games of the season, going 2-for-4 with a homer in both contests. He won't get the chance to keep that hot streak going in the third game of the year, with the Astros prioritizing managing his workload early in the season. Aledmys Diaz will take over at the hot corner.

  • Tigers' Jeimer Candelario: Scores, drives in one Saturday

Candelario went 1-for-4 with a double, a run scored and an RBI in Saturday's loss to the White Sox.

The Tigers only mustered two runs in this one, and Candelario was right in the middle of all the scoring. The third baseman has batted cleanup in each of the team's first two games, so he should have plenty of opportunities to drive in runs this season if that holds up, especially with the likes of Austin Meadows and Javier Baez now ahead of him in the lineup.

  • Mets' Eduardo Escobar: Gets breather Saturday

Escobar isn't in the lineup for Saturday's game against Washington.

While starting the first two games of the season, Escobar went 2-for-7 with two doubles, a run, three walks and three strikeouts. Luis Guillorme will start at the hot corner and bat eighth Saturday.

  • Josh Donaldson 3B | MIL

Yankees' Josh Donaldson: Knocks Opening Day walkoff single

Donaldson went 2-for-6 with an RBI in the Yankees' 6-5 extra-innings win over Boston on Friday.

Donaldson emerged as the hero in his first game as a Yankee when he stroked a single to center field in the bottom of the 11th inning to plate the game-winning run. The hit was the second of the day for the veteran, who batted leadoff for New York after not hitting in that spot at all with Minnesota last year. Donaldson was traded to New York in mid-March.

  • Eugenio Suarez DH | CIN

Mariners' Eugenio Suarez: Not starting Saturday

Suarez isn't starting Saturday's game against the Twins.

Suarez started Friday's matchup and went 0-for-4 with three strikeouts. Abraham Toro will start at the hot corner and bat fifth Saturday.

  • Jace Peterson SS | ARI

Brewers' Jace Peterson: Takes seat against southpaw

Peterson isn't starting Saturday's game against the Cubs, Adam McCalvy of MLB.com reports.

Peterson started in Thursday's Opening Day matchup and went 0-for-1 with a walk and a steal. Mike Brosseau will start at the hot corner and bat eighth against left-hander Justin Steele.
