  • Paul DeJong 3B | WAS

Nationals' Paul DeJong: Swats first homer of 2025

DeJong went 1-for-4 with a three-run home run in Thursday's win over the Brewers.

In his third game since returning from a fractured orbital bone suffered April 15, DeJong got hold of a Dietrich Enns fastball and drove it over the fence in right-center field. It was DeJong's first homer of 2025, and while the veteran infielder has lost his starting spot at third base to rookie Brady House, he could still get significant playing time in a utility role.

Cardinals' Nolan Arenado: Ready to go Friday

Arenado (finger) is starting at third base and batting sixth Friday against the Cubs.

The third baseman has been sidelined all week due to a sprained right index finger, but he'll rejoin the starting nine for Friday's series opener in Chicago. Arenado batted .275 (28-for-102) with three doubles, four homers, 14 RBI and 14 runs over 27 contests in June.

  • Jose Ramirez 3B | CLE

Guardians' Jose Ramirez: Stuck in slump

Ramirez went 0-for-4 in Thursday's 1-0 loss to the Cubs.

Ramirez continued a hitless streak that reached 21 at-bats Thursday. Twenty of those at-bats occurred after he was hit by a pitch on the forearm and forced to miss one game. The slump dropped Ramirez's season batting average to .297, the first time it's been below .300 since May 19.

  • Noelvi Marte 3B | CIN

Reds' Noelvi Marte: Returns from injured list

The Reds reinstated Marte (oblique) from the 10-day injured list, and he's starting at third base and batting seventh Friday against the Phillies.

Marte has been sidelined by an oblique strain since early May but is back on the active roster after going 10-for-30 with two homers and a triple during a nine-game rehab assignment. The 23-year-old has seen action in just 19 big-league games so far this season but has been productive when available with three homers, 17 RBI and an .857 OPS in 73 plate appearances.

  • Eugenio Suarez 3B | SEA

Diamondbacks' Eugenio Suarez: Clubs homer Thursday

Suarez went 1-for-4 with a solo home run in Thursday's 7-2 loss to the Giants.

Suarez broke up Robbie Ray's perfect game bid by leading off the fifth inning with a solo shot. During this four-game series, Suarez went just 2-for-16 (.125), but both of his hits against the Giants left the yard. The third baseman also struck out 10 times in the series and has logged multiple strikeouts in six of his last nine games. On the year, he's batting .250 with an .879 OPS, 27 homers, 70 RBI, 52 runs scored, one stolen base 16 doubles over 85 games.

The 25-year-old Barger has been red hot at the plate recently, going 7-for-17 with three homers in his last five games. Overall, he's slashing an impressive .272/.332/.521 with 34 runs scored and 32 RBI across 233 plate appearances.

  • Matt Chapman 3B | SF

    Giants' Matt Chapman: Nearing return

Chapman (hand) is expected to begin a rehab assignment with Triple-A Sacramento on Friday, Shayna Rubin of the San Francisco Chronicle reports.

Chapman took batting practice off a high-velocity machine prior to Thursday's game and felt no pain in his hand. If all goes according to plan, he hopes to return during the Giants' weekend series against the A's, though it's possible he requires a few rehab games in the minors and instead is activated early next week.

  • Isaac Paredes 3B | HOU

Astros' Isaac Paredes: Another multi-hit game
