  • Jean Segura 3B | CLE

    Diamondbacks' Jean Segura: Resting Sunday

Segura is not in the starting lineup Sunday against the Rockies.

Segura hasn't received a day off since April 17, so the 26-year-old shortstop was likely overdue for a maintenance day. Philip Gosselin will take over at the keystone and bat leadoff in Segura's stead.

  • Anthony Rendon 3B | LAA

Nationals' Anthony Rendon: On base three times in Saturday victory

Rendon went 2-for-4 with a walk and run scored in Saturday's 6-1 victory over the Cardinals.

The four-year pro has reached base safely in seven of his last eight games, collecting three hits, two walks, and a pair of runs over the first two games of the series. What has been missing in 2016 is the long ball, as Rendon is still searching for his first homer after coming into the season with 33 career dingers. He's slashing .242/.310/.286 over his first 91 at-bats.

  • Eugenio Suarez DH | CIN

Reds' Eugenio Suarez: Moved down in the order

Suarez will bat out of the six-spot Sunday against the Pirates, C. Trent Rosecrans of the Cincinnati Enquirer reports.

Suarez got off to a red-hot start to the year, but has since cooled down a bit, slashing .211/.268/.289 over his last 10 games. As a result, manager Bryan Price will bump Suarez down from the two-spot in the order -- a spot he had occupied for 21 games this season. It's unclear if this move is permanent just yet, but it's certainly a lineup worth monitoring, as Suarez will lose a handful of at-bats if this continues.

  • Yadiel Rivera 3B | MIL

Brewers' Yadiel Rivera: Sitting for second straight game

Rivera is out of the lineup for the second straight game Sunday against the Marlins.

Rivera was expected to be a primary option at second base when Scooter Gennett (oblique) hit the disabled list, but manager Craig Counsell has now utilized Aaron Hill at the keystone with Colin Walsh at third in back-to-back contests. The 23-year-old Rivera certainly hasn't helped his case of late by falling into a 0-for-12 slump. If he's unable to get it going at the plate soon, a trip back to Triple-A Colorado Springs might be in order, as the Brewers will continue to evaluate as many young assets as possible over the course of this rebuilding year.

  • Nolan Arenado 3B | ARI

Rockies' Nolan Arenado: Hits 10th homer Friday

Arenado went 1-for-4 with a solo homer against the Diamondbacks on Friday.

Arenado's 10th blast of the year put the Rockies comfortably ahead in a game in which they blew out Arizona. The slugger's on fire as he's now homered in three straight contests and raised his slash line to .287/.354/.678.

  • Matt Duffy 3B | TEX

Giants' Matt Duffy: Collects three hits in win over San Diego

Duffy went 3-for-4 with three runs scored as he continued to hit third against the Padres on Wednesday.

After starting the season off with a bang (two homers in three games), Duffy has fallen into a prolonged cold streak. Manager Bruce Bochy tried to wake his bat by moving Duffy to third in the order on April 22. Since that time, he is batting .333 with a pair of three-hit games including Wednesday's. His .288 BABIP is still about 50 points lower than last year's and his 28.0 LD% is actually higher than last year's (20.9 LD%), so his batting average should continue to climb.

  • Anthony Rendon 3B | LAA

Nationals' Anthony Rendon: Not in lineup Thursday

Rendon is not in the lineup Thursday against Washington, Mark Zuckerman of MASN reports.

It looks like a routine day off for Rendon, as the Nationals go with Stephen Drew at third base in his place. Drew will bat eighth in the order against Philadelphia's Aaron Nola.

  • Yadiel Rivera 3B | MIL

Brewers' Yadiel Rivera: Starting at second base Thursday

Rivera will start at second base Thursday against the Cubs.

With Scooter Gennett (oblique) landing on the disabled list Thursday, it's important to note that Rivera is starting over switch-hitter Colin Walsh against right-hander Jake Arrieta, as manager Craig Counsell made a couple other moves that placed left-handers into key spots in the batting order. Counsell has not confirmed his plans for the keystone in Gennett's absence, but Thursday's lineup makes Rivera the early favorite to be the regular second baseman until Gennett returns.

  • Jace Peterson SS | ARI

Braves' Jace Peterson: Not in lineup Wednesday

Peterson is not in the lineup for Wednesday's game against the Red Sox.

Peterson sat out Tuesday with left-hander David Price on the hill for Boston, but the 25-year-old will take a seat despite right-hander Steven Wright taking the ball for the Red Sox Wednesday. Jeff Francoeur will slot into left field in his stead.

  • Cubs' Jeimer Candelario: Drives in six Tuesday

Candelario went 2-for-3 with a double, home run, and six RBI for Double-A Tennessee on Tuesday.

Candelario is off to a slow start - he's only slashing .217/.345/.377 in 69 at-bats for the Smokies - but Tuesday's explosion was certainly a step in the right direction. He has a respectable 14:16 BB:K this year as well. He's blocked at the major league level by Kris Bryant, but he's a decent prospect who could be part of a deal to fill whatever hole the Cubs need as the season goes along.
