Peterson is not in the lineup for Friday's game against the White Sox.

Gordon Beckham will man second base while Chase d'Arnaud leads off against lefty Chris Sale, snapping a streak of six consecutive starts at the keystone and atop the order for Peterson. The 26-year-old Peterson was red hot throughout June but is off to a bit of a sluggish start to July (6-for-29). He's also 6-for-27 (all singles) against lefties this season, and the White Sox are starting another southpaw in Jose Quintana on Saturday.

Rivera was recalled from Triple-A Colorado Springs Friday.

With Aaron Hill being traded, the Brewers opted to recall Rivera to fill the vacant infield spot. Rivera spent some time with the Brewers earlier in the season, but struggled to produce at the plate, going 10-for-49 with 19 strikeouts and just one walk. His batting was better at Colorado Springs, although not by much, as he posted a .232/.282/.305 line.

LeMahieu went 3-for-5 with an RBI and three runs in Thursday's 11-2 victory over the Phillies.

The 27-year-old now has multi-hit efforts in three straight, and has hit safely in five of his six July contests. As stellar as LeMahieu's season had already been, he's taken it up another notch over the last two-plus weeks. He's raised his average 25 points since June 20, with nine multi-hit outings and seven RBI over that span.

Rendon went 2-for-4 with a solo homer Thursday at the Mets.

Rendon's ninth homer of the season came in the fourth inning, and gave the Nationals a three-run lead in a game they'd go on to lose. He's now left the yard in two of his last five games, and he's slashing .263/.349/.420 on the year.

Segura left Wednesday's game with a bruised left tricep, as X-rays were negative.

The Diamondbacks are off Thursday, so Segura will have a day to rest prior to the weekend series in San Francisco, but Arizona may just opt to give him a full week off before the second half starts. Phil Gosselin, who replaced Segura at second base Wednesday, figures to see some action at the keystone if Segura misses further time. More news about his status should be available in the coming days.

Duffy (achilles) will not be activated July 15, freelance writer Andrew Baggarly reports.

Duffy is eligible to return to the Giants as soon as the All-Star break ends, but it sounds like he will need more time to rehab his injury. He has been out since mid-June but has been progressing right on pace, as he was able to take groundballs out of his walking boot Sunday.

Segura went 3-for-4 with three runs and an RBI in Tuesday's win over the Padres.

Segura wasn't named to the NL All-Star roster Tuesday, but his first-half play has been All-Star caliber. He's now slashing .318/.362/.444 and has revitalized his career in his first season with the Diamondbacks.

Arenado hit a three-run homer, his 23rd, in a 1-for-4 game with a walk Tuesday against the Giants.

Arenado is just 4-for-20 to open July, but he is making the hits count. All four have gone for extra-bases, and Tuesday's marked his second homer of the young month. He now trails only Kris Bryant's 24 in home runs among third basemen. Arenado will be an All-Star for the second straight year in 2016, an honor he more than deserves.

Reynolds, demoted to make room for Jose Reyes, will be a super-utility player when he is back up in the majors, ESPN New York reports.

Reynolds was caught in a numbers game, as the Mets have Wilmer Flores and Kelly Johnson as backup infielders and the team is not inclined to designate Alejandro De Aza for assignment yet. As such, Reynolds was the odd man out when Reyes was added to the active roster. Reynolds likely will play all over for Triple-A Las Vegas, including second, short, third and left field to prepare for the next time he is in the majors.

McMahon, 21, is batting just .217/.305/.331 through 78 games for Double-A Hartford.

McMahon had an average hovering around .300 in the minors prior to this season. Not only has he struggled to hit for average, but McMahon has also been sapped of nearly all of his power. Curiously, he has just four home runs thus far in 2016. It has been a lost season for McMahon, who also continues to strike out at an alarming rate.
