Phillies' Cody Asche: Notches three hits, home run in loss

Asche went 3-for-4 with two doubles, a homer and two RBI in Wednesday's loss to the Jays.

The 25-year-old outfielder seems to be settling in after spending the first two months of the season on the DL. Asche has played in 13 games since returning, and Wednesday marked his first multi-hit effort of the campaign. With the performance, he pushed his average to a season-high .256 while doubling his home run and RBI totals. Asche began working on ways to get quicker to the ball after he noticed that he was fouling off pitches he should be squaring up. Wednesday night's results could be an indicator that those adjustments are paying off.

  • Matt Reynolds 3B | CIN

Mets' Matt Reynolds: Takes advantage of chance to start

Reynolds went 3-for-5 with two doubles, two RBI and a run against the Pirates on Wednesday.

With Neil Walker (back) still out, Reynolds made his first career start at second base and impressed with the bat. That's something he hasn't done in a while; Reynolds created a little buzz a couple years ago by hitting .343/.405/.454 across 126 games in Double-A and Triple-A, but he slumped to a .269 average last season and had a brutal .230 mark for Las Vegas before getting the call this year. There's not much to see here outside of deep NL-only formats.

  • Nolan Arenado 3B | ARI

Rockies' Nolan Arenado: Smashes 20th bomb versus Yankees

Arenado went 2-for-5 with a homer and three RBI in a 6-3 victory over the Yankees on Wednesday.

The homer was the third baseman's 20th of the season. He has four RBI and two extra-base hits in the first two games of the series versus the Yankees. After posting a .851 OPS in May, Arenado has a .966 OPS through the first half of June. He is batting .290 with 20 homers, 57 RBI and 47 runs.

  • Jace Peterson SS | ARI

Braves' Jace Peterson: Batting sixth Wednesday

Peterson is in the lineup and batting sixth for Wednesday's game against the Reds.

Peterson will get the start in place of Chase d'Arnaud at second base. The 26-year-old is hitting .267 against right-handed pitching this year and is 5-for-10 with five walks since being recalled from Triple-A on June 10.

  • Matt Reynolds 3B | CIN

Mets' Matt Reynolds: Will start Wednesday

Reynolds is in the lineup and batting sixth for Wednesday's game against the Pirates.

Reynolds will get just his fourth start since being called up to the big league club in the middle of May. The 25-year-old is 4-for-20 with three RBI through 15 games.

  • Eugenio Suarez DH | CIN

    Reds' Eugenio Suarez: Out Wednesday

Suarez is out of the lineup for Wednesday's game against the Braves.

Suarez will get the day off for the first time since May 29. The 24-year-old has picked it up offensively since the start of June, hitting .267/.346/.511 with three home runs and seven RBI, but he still sits at .228/.289/.422 on the season.

  • Jean Segura 3B | CLE

Diamondbacks' Jean Segura: Collects four hits on Tuesday

Segura went 4-for-4 with two runs in Tuesday's loss to the Dodgers.

Consider Segura's slump over, as he now is riding a six-game hitting streak and is 12-for-24 during that span. For the second straight game, Segura was the only Arizona player to collect multiple hits. He's now batting .309/.345/.445 on the season.

  • Jace Peterson SS | ARI

Braves' Jace Peterson: Is in lineup with Aybar scratch

Peterson was added to the Braves lineup, playing second base and batting eighth against Cincinnati on Tuesday.

Peterson was a late add, filling in for Erick Aybar who was scratched from the lineup for undisclosed reasons. Peterson has been reaching base with proficiency since his recall from Triple-A Gwinnett on Friday, finding his way onto the base paths in seven of his last 11 plate appearances.

  • Austin Riley 3B | ATL

Braves' Austin Riley: Striking out a ton at Low-A

Riley, 19, is slashing .260/.308/.384 with three home runs, 24 RBI and two steals through 57 games for Low-A Rome.

Riley has plenty of upside, but is still raw, as evidenced by the 78:16 K:BB in 57 games. His power stroke has also not come around just yet, though he did smack 12 home runs in 60 games at the Rookie Level in 2015. Riley is a prospect to watch, but remains a ways away from making a big-league impact.

  • Jean Segura 3B | CLE

Diamondbacks' Jean Segura: Cracks out two hits on Monday

Segura went 2-for-4 with an RBI in Monday's win over the Dodgers.

In a game in which the Diamondbacks had just six hits, Segura was the only player with at least two. The 26-year-old seems to be breaking out of his slump, with hits in five straight games. Three of those were multi-hit efforts.
