Diamondbacks' Jean Segura: Leaves with apparent injury

Segura was removed from Thursday's game with an apparent injury.

It's not clear what type of injury Segura suffered, but it occurred during an at-bat during the top of the seventh inning and he was unable to continue. Expect Segura's status to be updated when more details become available.

  • DJ LeMahieu 2B | NYY

Rockies' DJ LeMahieu: Out of lineup Wednesday

LeMahieu is out of the lineup for Wednesday's game against the Giants.

The Rockies are going with a decidedly left-handed lineup against San Francisco's Jeff Samardzija on Wednesday, plugging Daniel Descalso in at second base in place of LeMahieu. Samardzija has given up 41 XBH to left-handed batters this season, including 12 home runs. LeMahieiu figures to draw back in Thursday against Johnny Cueto.

  • Jace Peterson SS | ARI

Braves' Jace Peterson: Held out against lefty

Peterson is not in the lineup for Wednesday's game against the Phillies.

Peterson tallied two hits Tuesday, but he will be held out in favor of Daniel Castro, a right-handed hitter, with the Braves taking on left-hander Adam Morgan on Wednesday.

Diamondbacks' Jean Segura: Reaches 20-homer mark for first time

Segura went 1-for-4 with a leadoff homer Tuesday against the Nationals.

Segura hit Max Scherzer's first pitch out of the park to reach 20 homers for the first time in his career. The middle infielder has proven himself to be much more than a light-hitting speedster, reaching half of last season's home run total with three in just the past two games. He's currently the only hitter in baseball with at least 20 homers and 30 steals.

  • Anthony Rendon 3B | LAA

Nationals' Anthony Rendon: Reaches new career high in RBI thanks to three-run homer

Rendon went 1-for-3 with a three-run homer in Tuesday's 4-2 victory over the Diamondbacks.

Rendon's three-run shot followed Stephen Drew's sac fly in a four-run sixth inning that accounted for all of Washington's offense. The 26-year-old infielder established a new career high of 84 RBI in this performance, surpassing the 83 he had in a breakout 2014 campaign.

  • Jean Segura 3B | CLE

Diamondbacks' Jean Segura: Homers twice in blowout win

Segura was a major part of the Diamondbacks' blowout victory against the Nationals on Monday, going 3-for-5 with two home runs and three RBI.

Segura has been a rare bright spot for the Diamondbacks all season, batting .317 with 19 home runs and 30 stolen bases for the season. The 26-year-old has set career highs in runs scored, home runs, RBI and batting average in his first season in the desert.

  • DJ LeMahieu 2B | NYY

Rockies' DJ LeMahieu: Not in Saturday's lineup

LeMahieu is out of the lineup Saturday against the Dodgers, Eric Stephen of SB Nation reports.

It's not often one sees a healthy .349 hitter sit when they would have the platoon advantage, but LeMahieu hasn't had a day off in more than a month. Further, his 13-game hitting streak ended Friday and he's just 9-for-37 against Saturday's starter Clayton Kershaw. Patrick Valaika will get the nod at second base in LeMahieu's absence.

  • Nolan Arenado 3B | ARI

Rockies' Nolan Arenado: Smashes grand slam in blowout versus Cardinals

Arenado went 2-for-3 with a grand slam, two runs and a walk in the 11-1 victory over the Cardinals on Wednesday.

The homer moves him back into first place with 39 bombs in the National League, one ahead of Cubs third baseman Kris Bryant. Arenado also leads the NL with 128 RBI and nobody is even within 20 RBI of him. He is also hitting .294 with 111 runs and two stolen bases.

  • Carlos Asuaje 3B | LAD

Padres' Carlos Asuaje: Contract selected by Padres

Asuaje's contract was selected from Triple-A El Paso on Wednesday.

He was named the Pacific Coast League's Rookie of the Year after leading all Triple-A players this season with 172 hits and being tied for first with teammate Manuel Margot with 98 runs scored. He hit .321/.378/.473 with nine home runs and 10 steals (in an extreme hitting environment), playing primarily second base while also seeing time at third base and left field. It remains to be seen if his slight 5-foot-9, 160-pound frame will allow him to barrel big league pitching, but given the Padres' lack of quality infield depth, he should get a chance to prove himself over the rest of the season and in the first half of 2017.

  • Carlos Asuaje 3B | LAD

Padres' Carlos Asuaje: Slated for callup

Asuaje will be called up from Triple-A El Paso, AJ Cassavell of MLB.com reports.

Part of the Padres' return for Craig Kimbrel, he put together a fine season with El Paso, slashing .321/.378/.473 with nine homers, 10 steals and a 13.7 percent strikeout rate. However, Asuaje may play primarily off the bench over the final 11 games, and his modest power and speed put a cap on his upside long term despite the solid plate skills.
