  • Mitch Walding 3B | PHI

Phillies' Mitch Walding: Wins minor-league monthly award

Walding was named the International League Player of the Month on Monday.

Walding earned the honor by hitting .326 with 10 homers and 21 RBI. He's yet to translate any of that success to the major-league level, where he's gone 0-for-14 with 10 strikeouts. The sample size is small, but so far he looks like a Quad-A player, though there remains a chance he could provide value as a bench bat.

  • Brian Anderson RF | ATL

Marlins' Brian Anderson: Three hits in loss to Phillies

Anderson went 3-for-5 in Sunday's loss to the Phillies.

It's his fourth multi-hit performance in his last seven contests, and Anderson has a solid .286/.403/.375 slash line since the All-Star break, albeit with only one homer, three RBI and eight runs in 15 games. His lack of power and the unappealing lineup around him put a firm limit on the 25-year-old's fantasy ceiling, but he still has value in deeper formats, particularly those that use OBP.

  • Evan Longoria 3B | ARI

Giants' Evan Longoria: Stays hot with three-hit game

Longoria went 3-for-4 with a double, a solo home run, two runs and two RBI in the Giants' 3-2 win over the Diamondbacks on Sunday.

The veteran has been swinging a hot bat, as he's now hit safely in nine of 10 games since resuming his spot in the lineup following a stint on the disabled list. Four of his last five have also been multi-hit efforts, a span that's seen him launch his 11th and 12th homers of the season. He's not the 30-homer threat that would regularly crank out .800 OPS seasons during his best days in Tampa Bay, but as he's demonstrated in recent days, Longoria still has some pop in his bat. He also seems to have a secure role hitting third in San Francisco's lineup, which should bode well for his fantasy prospects as long as it continues to be the case.

  • Dodgers' Manny Machado: Posts three-hit day

Machado went 3-for-4 with a double and two runs to help the Dodgers to a 3-2 win over the Astros on Sunday.

The new acquisition accounted for most of his team's offense in this contest, scoring two out of the Dodgers' three runs and lashing his 23rd double of the season. The 26-year-old star is posting eye-popping numbers over his split time between Baltimore and Los Angeles this season, with a .309/.386/.552 slash line and 26 homers through 433 at-bats. His counting stats contributions only figure to increase as he continues to settle into his new role in a Dodgers lineup that is much better than Baltimore's.

  • Trevor Plouffe 3B | PHI

Phillies' Trevor Plouffe: Sent to Triple-A

Plouffe was outrighted to Triple-A Lehigh Valley on Sunday.

Plouffe was designated for assignment Tuesday after going 3-for-12 with one extra-base hit through seven games at the big-league level. He's slashed .240/.360/.480 over 60 contests with the Iron Pigs in 2018.

  • Carlos Asuaje 3B | LAD

Padres' Carlos Asuaje: Remains on bench Sunday

Asuaje is out of the lineup for Sunday's series finale against the Cubs.

Asuaje will hit the bench for the fourth straight game with Cubs left-hander Jon Lester taking the mound. The 26-year-old is also 0-for-27 over his past 11 games as Jose Pirela gets another start at second base for the Padres.

  • Mike Moustakas 3B | CHW

Brewers' Mike Moustakas: Day off Saturday

Moustakas is not in the lineup against the Rockies on Saturday.

Moustakas figures to see the majority of starts at third base for Milwaukee, but he will receive a breather Saturday with the left-handed Tyler Anderson on the mound for the Rockies. Look for him to return to the starting nine in the series finale Sunday with righty Jon Gray set to start.

  • Carlos Asuaje 3B | LAD

Padres' Carlos Asuaje: On bench Saturday

Asuaje is not in Saturday's lineup versus the Cubs.

Asuaje will remain on the bench for a third straight game as Cory Spangenberg picks up a start at the keystone. With left-hander Jon Lester on the mound for Chicago on Sunday, there's a decent chance Asuaje will be withheld from the starting lineup once again.

  • Brian Anderson RF | ATL

Marlins' Brian Anderson: Drives in lone run versus Phillies

Anderson went 2-for-3 with a double, an RBI and a walk Friday against Philadelphia.

Anderson was responsible for Miami's only run of the game, as he plated a run in the eighth inning on a single to center field. The 25-year-old has pieced together a .286/.367/.423 slash line through 110 matchups in 2018, and he'll look to finish off the final months of his first full big-league season on a high note.

  • Carlos Asuaje 3B | LAD

Padres' Carlos Asuaje: Out again versus left-hander

Asuaje is not in the lineup against the Cubs on Friday.

Asuaje was left out of the starting nine for the second straight day with another southpaw (Jose Quintana) on the hill for Chicago. Jose Pirela will grab another start at second base and bat seventh.
