Nationals' Carter Kieboom: On bench for series finale

Kieboom is not in the lineup Thursday against the Cardinals.

Kieboom has gone just 3-for-22 (.136) with a pair of homers and nine strikeouts in six games since earning a promotion near the end of April. As such, he'll take a seat for Thursday's series finale as he looks to hit the reset button. Wilmer Difo is starting at shortstop and hitting eighth in his place.

  • Josh Donaldson 3B | MIL

Braves' Josh Donaldson: Sitting again due to calf issue

Donaldson (calf) remains out of the lineup for Thursday's game against the Padres.

Donaldson's sore right calf will keep him on the bench for a third straight day. According to Mark Bowman of MLB.com, Donaldson will at least be available as a pinch hitter, offering optimism that he'll be able to avoid the injured list and rejoin the lineup at some point this weekend in Miami. Johan Camargo will man third base in his absence in the series finale with San Diego.

Braves' Austin Riley: Rocking for Stripers

Riley went 4-for-5 with a double, two solo home runs and a third run scored for Triple-A Gwinnett on Wednesday.

His second blast actually cleared the left-field scoreboard at Coolray Stadium, traveling an estimated 492 feet. Riley is on fire right now, going yard five times in the last six games while slashing a dizzying .542/.577/1.333. He's blocked from a promotion as long as Josh Donaldson is healthy, but the 22-year-old is making a strong case that he's just about ready to face big-league pitching.

Rockies' Nolan Arenado: Powers big win over Brew Crew

Arenado went 3-for-5 with two home runs and four RBI in Wednesday's 11-4 win over the Brewers.

The third baseman's sluggish start at the dish is a distant memory. Arenado is now slashing .285/.328/.553 through 30 games, but he's racked up six multi-hit efforts and five of his eight homers on the year in his last 10 contests.

  • Padres' Manny Machado: Homers Wednesday

Machado went 1-for-4 with a solo home run in the Padres' 5-1 defeat to the Braves on Wednesday.

It's been a slow start to the season for Machado, but he managed to check in with his fifth long ball of the season in this contest, touching up Max Fried with a fourth-inning solo blast for his team's only run on the day. It was his first time leaving the yard since April 12 and Machado is still slashing just .236/.323/.391 through his first 110 at-bats with the Padres. However, he can heat up in a hurry, so hopefully this is a sign he's set to get on track.

Senzel will be be called up prior to this weekend's home series against the Giants, Jonathan Mayo of MLB.com reports.

Doug Gray of RedsMinorLeagues.com reported Wednesday that Senzel has been told he's getting the call, but Gray does not specify whether Senzel is expected to join the team before Friday. The Reds still need to officially select Senzel's contract and make a corresponding move. For now, those who have Senzel rostered should prepare to deploy him Friday in applicable situations. He figures to assume the role of everyday center fielder, taking over for Scott Schebler, who is hitting .135 with 26 strikeouts in 88 plate appearances. Senzel is hitting .257/.316/.371 with one home run in 35 at-bats with Triple-A Louisville since returning from an ankle injury.
