    Dodgers' Max Muncy: Not starting Sunday

    Muncy (quadriceps) remains out of the lineup Sunday against the Rockies, J.P. Hoornstra of the Los Angeles Daily News reports.

    Though Muncy was expected to re-enter the lineup for the series finale after sitting out Saturday's 4-2 loss, the Dodgers will instead err on the side of caution and keep him out for another game. With an off day coming Monday, Muncy will benefit from extra time to recover from the quad injury ahead of Tuesday's series opener in San Diego.

    Machado is not in the lineup for Sunday's game against the Diamondbacks.

    Machado will get the day off Sunday with the Padres out of playoff contention. Seth Mejias-Brean will man the hot corner in Machado's place.

    Newman is not in the lineup for Sunday's game against the Brewers.

    Newman is hitting .297 in September, but he went 0-for-8 over his last two games, so manager Clint Hurdle decided to give him a break. Cole Tucker will get the start at shortstop Sunday afternoon.

    Riley has not seen many starts in September, but with the Braves getting their regulars some rest in advance of the postseason, he has gotten more chances to play and will be in the lineup Sunday for the third time in four days.

    Davis is not in the lineup for Sunday's game against the Reds, according to Tim Healey of Newsday.

    Davis has been a regular in left field since the All-Star break, but he has seen his playing time dip of late, with manager Mickey Callaway opting to use Todd Frazier more frequently at third base and moving Jeff McNeil to left as a result.

    As expected, Donaldson is not in the lineup for Sunday's game against the Giants.

    Donaldson has started every game at third base but one since May 23, so manager Brian Snitker will give the iron man a break Sunday with the NL East wrapped up. Austin Riley will man the hot corner in Donaldson's place.

    McMahon went 1-for-3 with a solo home run in Saturday's 4-2 win over the Dodgers.

    McMahon opened the scoring in the second inning with a leadoff homer off Walker Buehler. The infielder has 23 homers this season, adding 81 RBI, 69 runs scored and five stolen bases while slashing .253/.335/.458 in 134 games.

    Rendon went 0-for-3 with three walks, a stolen base and a run scored Saturday against the Marlins.

    Rendon didn't reach base with a hit but was productive nevertheless with three walks and also providing his fourth stolen base of the season. Despite a three-game hitless streak, Rendon is still hitting an incredibly impressive .326/.412/.613 across 139 games this season.

    Braves' Josh Donaldson: Likely to rest Sunday

    Donaldson will likely be out of the lineup Sunday, Mark Bowman of MLB.com reports.

    The Braves are prepared to rest some of their most prominent regulars now that they've clinched the NL East. It appears Donaldson will take his turn on the bench Sunday, and he could find himself out of the lineup several more times prior to the close of the regular season.

    Muncy exited Friday's game with quad tightness and is out of the lineup Saturday. However, manager Dave Roberts called Muncy "playable" despite the absence and noted he expects Muncy back in the lineup Sunday.
