Pirates' Kevin Newman: Starting to heat up

Newman went 2-for-4 with a solo home run Sunday against the Cubs.

Newman took Jon Lester deep in the first inning for his first home run of the season. While he's still hitting just .179 through 31 plate appearances, Newman now has back-to-back mulit-hit games. He'll look to maintain his improved results as the Pirates travel to Minnesota to take on the Twins.

Giants' Evan Longoria: Drills homer in loss

Longoria went 1-for-3 with a solo homer and two RBI in Sunday's loss to Texas.

Longoria continued his red-hot start to 2020 with a solo homer in the sixth inning Sunday. In four games since returning from an oblique injury, the 34-year-old third baseman has six hits, five RBI and a 1.230 OPS.

  • Mike Moustakas 3B | CHW

Reds' Mike Moustakas: Sitting with forearm injury

Moustakas suffered a left forearm injury in Game 1 of Sunday's doubleheader against the Tigers and isn't starting in Game 2, Bobby Nightengale of The Cincinnati Enquirer reports.

Moustakas was hit by a pitch in the sixth inning of Sunday's first game and was subsequently removed. He'll be replaced at second base in Game 2 of the doubleheader by Christian Colon, who is batting seventh. Whether Moustakas will be available for Monday's game against Cleveland remains to be seen.

Reds' Mike Moustakas: Exits after HBP

Moustakas was removed from Game 1 of Sunday's doubleheader against the Tigers after being hit by a pitch on the hand, Bobby Nightengale of The Cincinnati Enquirer reports.

Moustakas went 0-for-2 before leading off the sixth inning with the hit by pitch, and he was subsequently replaced by a pinch runner. The specifics of the injury remain unclear, but the 31-year-old seems unlikely to be in the lineup for Game 2 with the quick turnaround and the new seven-inning rule for doubleheaders.

  • Jason Vosler 3B | SEA

Padres' Jason Vosler: Added to player pool

Vosler joined the Padres' 60-man player pool Sunday, Kevin Acee of The San Diego Union-Tribune reports.

Vosler enjoyed a strong season at Triple-A El Paso in 2019, slashing .291/.367/.523 with 20 home runs and 63 RBI. The 26-year-old is not on the Padres' 40-man roster, so he's a long shot to see any big-league playing time this season.

  • Evan Longoria 3B | ARI

Giants' Evan Longoria: Racks up three hits

Longoria went 3-for-4 with a double, two RBI, a run scored and a walk in Saturday's 7-3 win over the Giants.

The veteran third baseman was San Francisco's most productive bat in the lineup, and he is enjoying a great start to the season. The 34-year-old has hit safely in all three games he has played in thus far, registering two extra-base hits, three RBI, two walks and a .455 average (5-for-11).

  • J.D. Davis 1B | LAA

Mets' J.D. Davis: Not in lineup Saturday

Davis is not in the lineup Saturday against Atlanta.

Davis swatted his second home run of the season and brought in three runs in Friday's high-scoring game, but he'll play a bench role Saturday for the second time in the last four contests. Dominic Smith will start in left field, batting seventh.

  • Carter Kieboom 3B | CLE

Nationals' Carter Kieboom: On base four times Thursday

Kieboom went 2-for-2 with two walks and two runs scored in Thursday's win over the Blue Jays.

Making his second career start at third base, Kieboom appeared to be fully recovered from the minor groin tweak that was bothering him to begin the season and restricted him in the field. The 22-year-old is still looking for his first extra-base hit of 2020, but Kieboom has gone 4-for-9 with a strong 3:3 BB:K through three games. Now that he's healthy, expect him to settle in as the Nats' starting third baseman.

  • Evan Longoria 3B | ARI

Giants' Evan Longoria: Adds RBI in return

Longoria (oblique) went 1-for-4 with a sacrifice fly in Thursday's 12-7 loss to the Padres.

Longoria's sacrifice fly scored Mike Yastrzemski in the fifth inning to get the Giants on the board. Longoria also had a pair of strikeouts in his season debut. The 34-year-old figures to see the majority of the playing time at third base, though he could also DH on occasion.

  • Max Muncy 3B | LAD

Dodgers' Max Muncy: Goes yard in win

Muncy went 2-for-4 with a solo home run, a walk and another run scored during Thursday's win in Arizona.

Muncy launched his third long ball of the season with a solo shot off reliever Alex Young in the sixth inning. He also singled and scored in the first, and walked in the fourth. The 29-year-old appears to be on his way to another successful season.
