  • Kyle Farmer 3B | ATL

Reds' Kyle Farmer: Swats 14th homer

Farmer went 1-for-4 with a solo home run in Wednesday's 5-4 loss to the Pirates.

The shortstop took Sam Howard deep in the eighth inning to tie things up at 4-4, but Mychal Givens faltered in the ninth to keep the Reds tumbling down in the NL wild-card race with their fourth straight defeat. Farmer has set career highs with 14 homers, 52 runs and 55 RBI on the season, but his .256/.309/.403 slash line highlights his limitations as a hitter.

  • Max Muncy 3B | LAD

Dodgers' Max Muncy: Cranks 34th homer

Muncy went 2-for-5 with a solo home run in a 5-3 victory versus Arizona on Wednesday. He also bruised his right knee in the third inning but isn't expected to miss any time.

The first baseman slugged Los Angeles' only long ball of the game, driving a solo shot to right field in the fifth inning. The homer was Muncy's 34th of the campaign, moving him into third place in the National League and putting him one behind his career-high mark set in both 2018 and 2019. Muncy suffered a right knee bruise while sliding into second on an unsuccessful stolen-base attempt in the third inning, but he stayed in the game and is expected to play in the team's next contest Friday, according to Eric Stephen of SBNation.com.

  • Edmundo Sosa 3B | PHI

Cardinals' Edmundo Sosa: Homers in win

Sosa went 2-for-4 with a single, a homer and two runs scored in Wednesday's 11-4 win over the Mets. He also drew a walk.

Sosa went oppo for his sixth home run of the season, driving a ball into the bullpen at Citi Field off Heath Hembree. The infielder has had a scalding finish to the summer, as he's hitting .344 since Aug. 1. His numbers certainly indicate someone worthy of a move up in the batting order, and manager Mike Shildt seemingly agrees. In August, Sosa's average batting order position in games that he started was 7.47. Thus far in September, it's 6.78.

  • Nolan Arenado 3B | ARI

Cardinals' Nolan Arenado: Homers in win

Arenado went 2-for-4 with a single, a homer and two RBI in Wednesday's 11-4 win over the Mets. He also drew a walk.

Arenado pushed his hit streak to five with a solid performance against the Mets. He bashed a solo homer off Seth Lugo in the seventh inning before plating the Cardinals' final run of the night with a single in the eighth. As St. Louis continues its charge for a playoff spot, Arenado has picked up his power numbers. The third baseman has already hit six homers in September, which matches his round-tripper total from August.

  • Matt Duffy 3B | TEX

Cubs' Matt Duffy: Looks good Wednesday

Duffy went 3-for-5 with a double, a solo home run and two runs scored in Wednesday's loss to the Phillies.

Making just his third start in the last six games, Duffy made a compelling case to pick up more playing time moving forward. David Bote returned from the injured list last week and looks like the primary option at second base, while Sergio Alcantara, Patrick Wisdom and Frank Schwindel are the other regulars in the infield. Duffy is versatile enough to play multiple positions, but uneven playing time figures to keep him off the fantasy radar the rest of the season.

  • Jace Peterson SS | ARI

Brewers' Jace Peterson: Steals base, scores lone run

Peterson went 1-for-4 with a stolen base and a run scored in Wednesday's 4-1 loss to Detroit.

The 31-year-old scored on a Lorenzo Cain double in the second inning, but Milwaukee mustered just one hit and one walk in the final seven frames. Peterson is up to 10-for-11 in stolen-base attempts this year. He's slashing .265/.376/.390 with five home runs, 30 RBI, 35 runs scored and 11 doubles. The utility man filled in for Avisail Garcia (back) in right field Wednesday, but the latter's absence isn't expected to be very extensive.

  • Matt Duffy 3B | TEX

Cubs' Matt Duffy: Losing work to Bote

Duffy will start at third base and bat leadoff Wednesday against the Phillies.

Though he'll crack the lineup Wednesday, Duffy's time as an everyday player looks to have ended after David Bote was activated from the injured list Sept. 6. With Bote stepping in as the Cubs' primary second baseman and Sergio Alcantara and Patrick Wisdom typically holding down the fort at shortstop and third base, respectively, Duffy was on the bench for three of the team's last five games.

  • Ryan McMahon 3B | NYY

Rockies' Ryan McMahon: Gets breather Wednesday

McMahon is out of the lineup for Wednesday's game against Atlanta.

After four consecutive starts, McMahon will take a seat for the middle game of the series at Truist Park, opening up third base for rookie Colton Welker. Through 13 games in September, McMahon has gone 10-for-39 (.256 average) with two home runs, four doubles, 10 RBI, seven runs and a stolen base.

  • Ryan McMahon 3B | NYY

Rockies' Ryan McMahon: Draws two walks Tuesday

McMahon went 0-for-2 with two walks, a stolen base and a run scored in Tuesday's 5-4 win over Atlanta.

McMahon didn't get a hit but was still active on the basepaths after drawing a pair of walks. He scored his first time on base and then stole second his next time reaching but was left stranded on third. The stolen base was just his fifth of the year and his first since June 26. Overall, the 26-year-old is slashing .256/.330/.457 with 22 homers, 72 RBI, 75 runs scored, and a 51:133 BB:K over 533 plate appearances.

  • Max Muncy 3B | LAD

Dodgers' Max Muncy: Scores three runs

Muncy went 2-for-3 with a double, two-run home run, two additional runs and a walk in Tuesday's 8-4 win over Arizona.

Muncy doubled and scored in the first inning, blasted a two-run homer off Arizona starter Luke Weaver in the third and walked and scored in the seventh to reach base three times for the first time since Aug. 28. Known for his on-base abilities, Muncy's walk was his first in 10 games while the long ball was his 33rd on the season. Muncy has a real shot at surpassing his career high of 35 homers set in 2018 and matched in 2019.
