Nick Madrigal 2B | LAA
Cubs' Nick Madrigal: Reaches twice, swipes base
Madrigal went 2-for-3 with a stolen base Wednesday in a loss to the White Sox.
The Cubs got most of their production Wednesday out of the bottom of the order, as No. 8 and No. 9 hitters Patrick Wisdom and Madrigal combined for four of the team's five hits. The latter also swiped his first base of the campaign in the second inning. Madrigal is batting just .235 on the season, but he may be heating up, as he's gone 6-for-18 (.333) over his past five games.

Patrick Wisdom 3B | SEA
Cubs' Patrick Wisdom: Blasts fifth home run
Wisdom went 2-for-3 with a solo home run in Wednesday's loss to the White Sox.
Wisdom is trying his best to prove his 2021 breakout wasn't a fluke, as he's now up to five home runs this season. The 30-year-old surprisingly popped 28 long balls across 106 games last year after coming into the season with just four career MLB home runs. At his current pace, Wisdom could surpass his 2021 total, especially if he ends up playing more games in 2022.

Nolan Arenado 3B | ARI
Cardinals' Nolan Arenado: Launches seventh homer
Arenado went 2-for-4 with a home run and five RBI during Wednesday's 10-0 win over the Royals.
The 31-year-old went deep off Kris Bubic with two runners on during the first inning, and he also delivered a two-run single with the bases loaded in the seventh. It's already Arenado's eighth multi-hit game of the season, and he ranks second in MLB with 23 RBI and is tied for fifth with seven home runs.

Carter Kieboom 3B | CLE
Nationals' Carter Kieboom: Not yet throwing
Manager Dave Martinez said Wednesday that Kieboom (elbow) has yet to begin a throwing program, Mark Zuckerman of MASNSports.com reports.
Kieboom was originally supposed to start playing light catch in mid-April, so it's not a great sign he's still not throwing three weeks later. The 24-year-old opened the season on the 60-day injured list due to a sprained UCL in his right elbow and a flexor mass strain in his forearm, and his recovery thus has been slow going. Kieboom will be eligible to be activated from the injured list in early June, but he'll need to make significant strides in his rehab to have any chance of returning at that point. Maikel Franco has operated as Washington's primary third baseman to begin 2022 and should remain in that role for the foreseeable future.

Jason Vosler 3B | SEA
Giants' Jason Vosler: Sitting again Wednesday
Vosler is out of the lineup for Wednesday's game against the Dodgers, Maria I. Guardado of MLB.com reports.
Vosler started seven straight games at third base before taking a seat Tuesday, and he finds himself on the bench against Wednesday. Kevin Padlo will receive his second straight start after being promoted Tuesday.

Nick Senzel 3B | LAD
Reds' Nick Senzel: Scratched, moves to COVID IL
Senzel (undisclosed) was scratched from Wednesday's lineup against Milwaukee and placed on the COVID-19 injured list, Bobby Nightengale of The Cincinnati Enquirer reports.
Senzel was slated to start in center field Wednesday and will now step away from the team. Tyler Naquin (undisclosed) was also placed on the COVID-19 IL. It's unclear if either player tested positive for the virus, but they'll both be unavailable until they clear MLB's testing protocols.

Kevin Newman 3B | LAA
Pirates' Kevin Newman: Resumes baseball activities
Newman (groin) has resumed all baseball activities except running, Mike Persak of the Pittsburgh Post-Gazette reports.
Newman has been on the injured list for a week, and it's encouraging to see him participate in most baseball activities. The 28-year-old is expected to miss 3-to-5 weeks due to his left groin strain and will need to resume running before he's cleared to progress further in his recovery process.

J.D. Davis 1B | LAA
Mets' J.D. Davis: Makes another start versus righty
Davis will serve as the Mets' designated hitter and No. 7 batter in Wednesday's game against Atlanta.
After moving past a recent foot injury, Davis has picked up three starts during the four-game series with Atlanta. For the second straight game, he'll be included in the lineup against a right-handed pitcher, as Ian Anderson toes the rubber for Atlanta in the series finale. Meanwhile, the lefty-hitting Dominic Smith is on the bench, perhaps signaling that the righty-hitting Davis could be the Mets' preferred option at DH in the wake of Robinson Cano being cast off the 40-man roster.

Mike Moustakas 3B | CHW
Reds' Mike Moustakas: Pops first homer of 2022
Moustakas went 2-for-4 with a double, a home run and two RBI in Tuesday's loss to the Brewers.
Facing one of his former clubs, Moustakas showed a little life at the plate. His two extra-base hits Tuesday were his first two extra-base hits of the season. His plate skills and hand speed seem to be declining rapidly, but at least while he's on this Reds squad, his playing time should be secure.

Eduardo Escobar 3B | TOR
Mets' Eduardo Escobar: Sitting Game 2
Escobar is out of the lineup for Game 2 of Tuesday's doubleheader against Atlanta.
Escobar went 1-for-4 with an RBI during Game 1 and will take a seat for the nightcap, which is only his second time on the bench this season. J.D. Davis will man the hot corner in his place for Game 2.
