Giants' Evan Longoria: Not in Saturday's lineup

Longoria isn't starting Saturday against the Marlins, Amy Gutierrez of the Giants' official site reports.

Longoria returned to the lineup from a shoulder injury Friday against Miami and went 2-for-5 with a double, a run, a walk and a strikeout. However, Jason Vosler will take over at the hot corner and bat eighth Saturday.

  • Ke'Bryan Hayes 3B | CIN

Pirates' Ke'Bryan Hayes: Swats second homer

Hayes went 2-for-5 with a double, a three-run home run and a second run scored in Friday's 8-6 loss to the Diamondbacks.

The third baseman took J.B. Wendelken deep in the ninth inning to give the Pirates a flicker of hope they could make a comeback, but all it did was create a save for Mark Melancon. Hayes has only two homers on the season, but both have come during his current six-game hitting streak, and he's pushed his slash line on the year up to .295/.379/.405 in the process.

  • Patrick Wisdom 3B | SEA

Cubs' Patrick Wisdom: Blasts another home run

Wisdom went 2-for-4 with a home run and four RBI in Friday's loss to the Cardinals.

Wisdom was a bright spot in a 14-5 loss, launching a three-run home run in the first inning, then driving home another run on a single in the seventh. The third baseman is up to 12 home runs and 31 RBI through 49 games. He has a decent chance of surpassing his career highs of 28 homers and 61 RBI, both of which he recorded during his breakout 2021 campaign.

  • Jason Vosler 3B | SEA

Giants' Jason Vosler: Clubs third homer

Vosler went 2-for-5 with a solo home run in Friday's 15-6 win over the Marlins.

Vosler went yard in the sixth inning for his second extra-base hit in three games since he was recalled from Triple-A Sacramento on June 1. The utility man has been solid when called upon this year, slashing .295/.373/.545 with three homers, seven RBI, seven runs scored and a pair of doubles in 51 plate appearances. He's also been caught stealing in his lone attempt.

  • Padres' Manny Machado: Clubs three-run homer

Machado went 1-for-4 with a three-run home run, two runs scored and a walk in Friday's 7-0 win over the Brewers.

Machado has just two homers in his last 24 games, but he's batting (.311) in that span, which is actually a decrease from his hot start to 2022. The third baseman went deep off Brewers ace Corbin Burnes in the fourth inning to extend the Padres' lead to 5-0. Machado is up to a .344/.421/.566 slash line with nine homers, 32 RBI, 38 runs scored, seven stolen bases, 13 doubles and a triple through 50 contests.

  • Jason Vosler 3B | SEA

Giants' Jason Vosler: Added to Friday's lineup

Vosler was added to the lineup for Friday's game against the Marlins.

The 28-year-old was initially slated to get a day off Friday, but he'll start at the hot corner and bat ninth after Tommy La Stella (undisclosed) was a late scratch. Vosler went 1-for-4 with a double, a run, a walk and two strikeouts over the last two games.

  • Evan Longoria 3B | ARI

Giants' Evan Longoria: Hitting sixth Friday

Longoria (shoulder) is starting at third base and hitting sixth Friday against the Marlins.

He appeared off the bench as a pinch hitter in back-to-back games after suffering a shoulder injury Tuesday. Longoria is hitting .310 with five home runs in his last 10 games.

  • Kyle Farmer 3B | ATL

Reds' Kyle Farmer: Out of lineup Friday

Farmer is not in the starting lineup for Friday's matchup with the Nationals.

Farmer will get a breather Friday after starting seven straight contests, going 11-for-24 with four homers, 11 RBI, seven runs and a stolen base in those games. Matt Reynolds will get the start at shortstop and bat ninth as the Reds face Josiah Gray on the mound.

  • Jace Peterson SS | ARI

Brewers' Jace Peterson: Clutch performance in win

Peterson went 2-for-3 with one triple, three RBI, one run scored and one steal in Thursday's victory over San Diego.

Peterson walked in his first at-bat and proceed to swipe second, registering his seventh steal of the season. He reached base again in his second plate appearance with a single, but his game-tying, three RBI triple in the bottom of the ninth was the biggest swing of the night for either team. Peterson eventually scored the game-winning run on an Andrew McCutchen single. Over his last six games, Peterson has eight hits in 16 plate appearances, including two doubles, two triples and eight RBI.

  • Nick Madrigal 3B | LAA

Cubs' Nick Madrigal: Gets breather Friday

Madrigal is not starting in Friday's game versus the Cardinals.

Madrigal will get a day off after starting three straight games following his return from the 10-day injured list Tuesday, going 3-for-9 with two runs over those contests. Christopher Morel will get the start at second base while Rafael Ortega enters the lineup in center field and bats second Friday.
