Edmundo Sosa 3B | PHI
Phillies' Edmundo Sosa: Nabs second straight start
Sosa will start at third base and bat eighth in Sunday's game against the Reds.
After going 1-for-3 with an RBI while starting at third base against a left-handed pitcher (Nick Lodolo) in Saturday's 3-2 win, Sosa will get another opportunity to man the hot corner, this time with a righty (Connor Overton) on the mound. With Alec Bohm expected to see more time at first base moving forward while Darick Hall (thumb) is on the injured list and Rhys Hoskins (knee) is out for the season, Sosa may get the chance to play on a near-everyday basis if he continues to perform reasonably well at the plate.

Nolan Arenado 3B | ARI
Cardinals' Nolan Arenado: Launches homer No. 300
Arenado went 2-for-3 with a walk, a home run and three RBI in Saturday's 6-0 win over the Brewers.
His two-run blast in the third inning off Eric Lauer gave the Cards a 4-0 lead, and it was Arenado's his first homer of the year and the 300th of his career. The third baseman joined a very exclusive club in the process, becoming just the eighth player in MLB history with 300 home runs and 10 Gold Gloves -- a group that features Hall of Famers Willie Mays, Ken Griffey Jr., Mike Schmidt, Al Kaline, Johnny Bench and Ivan Rodriguez, as well as a likely future Hall of Famer in Andruw Jones. The 31-year-old Arenado is having a strong start to the season, batting .364 (12-for-33) with four runs and eight RBI in eight games.

Mike Moustakas 3B | CHW
Rockies' Mike Moustakas: Blasts first homer with Rockies
Moustakas went 1-for-4 with a two-run home run in Saturday's loss to Washington.
Moustakas worked a 10-pitch at-bat against Anthony Banda in the ninth inning and finished it off with a 439-foot, two-run blast for his first long ball of the season. The veteran infielder made just his third start of the campaign for Colorado, and the homer was his second hit in 10 at-bats. Moustakas hasn't reached double-digit home runs since going deep 35 times with the Brewers in 2019, and he was plagued by injuries over his previous three seasons.

Eduardo Escobar 3B | TOR
Mets' Eduardo Escobar: Homers for first time in victory
Escobar went 1-for-4 with a two-run home run in Saturday's win over the Marlins.
Escobar extended the lead for the Mets with a two-run shot off Huascar Brazoban in the sixth inning. The veteran third baseman has gotten off to a terrible start even with the homer as seen in a slash of .107/.138/.214. Escobar will have to start hitting if he's going to hold off Brett Baty -- assuming Baty is healthy after dealing with a thumb injury this spring -- from taking over at the hot corner.

Manny Machado 3B | SD
Padres' Manny Machado: Swipes bag Friday
Machado went 2-for-4 with a double, a walk, two runs and a stolen base in a 5-4 win over Atlanta on Friday.
Machado has hit pretty well so far this season, batting .310 through 32 plate appearances. However, he's yet to go deep, and Friday's double was just his second extra-base hit of the campaign. The two runs he scored and the theft he nabbed in the win were also his first of 2023, so perhaps he'll start racking up counting stats to complement the nice batting average.

Jeimer Candelario 3B | LAA
Nationals' Jeimer Candelario: Pops second homer
Candelario went 1-for-4 with a solo home run and two RBI in Friday's win over the Rockies.
The third baseman took advantage of Coors Field's thin air, going back-to-back with Alex Call to lead off the game. Candelario has hit safely in five of the last six games, launching both his homers on the season during that stretch, but he's still batting just .194 (6-for-31) to begin his Nationals tenure.

Evan Longoria 3B | ARI
Diamondbacks' Evan Longoria: Homers, reaches four times
Longoria went 3-for-3 with a double, a solo home run and two runs scored in Friday's victory over the Dodgers. He also walked.
Longoria continues to rake in the early part of the season, and he tied the game at 3-3 with a blast off Clayton Kershaw in the sixth. In his first year with the Diamondbacks, the veteran third baseman has gone deep twice over his first five contests while batting .429 (6-for-14) on the short side of a platoon.

Ryan McMahon 3B | NYY
Rockies' Ryan McMahon: Blasts homer in loss
McMahon went 1-for-4 with a solo home run in Friday's loss to Washington.
McMahon's homer went an estimated 441 feet off MacKenzie Gore in the second inning. The second baseman has gone deep twice in the first eight games this season and is slugging .500, but he's also hitting just .200 over his first 30 at-bats.

J.D. Davis 1B | LAA
Giants' J.D. Davis: Knocks in five
Davis went 3-for-6 with a home run, five RBI and two runs scored Thursday against the White Sox.
Davis' line isn't as impressive as it looks at first glance, as he hit a grand slam off Hanser Alberto in the top of the ninth inning in a blowout win. However, he managed an RBI knock one frame earlier with Gregory Santos on the mound. David Villar has gotten regular run ahead of Davis to begin the season, but so long as Brandon Crawford (forearm) is sidelined there should be room for both Villar and Davis in the lineup.
