    Pedro Alvarez sets RBI record in Game 5 loss

    Pirates third baseman Pedro Alvarez became the first player in history to record at least one RBI in each of his first six postseason games Wednesday, driving in his team's only run as the Cardinals advanced to the National League Championship Series with a 6-1 win over the Pirates.

    Alvarez got at least one hit in each game of the National League Division Series after going 0 for 3 with an RBI in the team's wild-card win over the Reds. He finishes his postseason with a .300/.348/.800 line, three home runs and seven RBI in 20 at-bats.

    Pedro Alvarez homers in Game 4 loss

    Pirates third baseman Pedro Alvarez left the stadium for his third home run of the postseason on Monday during the Game 4 loss at home in the National League Division Series against St. Louis. 

    Alvarez hit a solo homer off starter Michael Wacha in the eighth inning. It was the first hit of the game for the Pirates. It ended up being the only hit of the game for the Bucs as the series is tied at two games apiece. 

    Alvarez went 1 for 3 and is batting .385 in the NLDS. After going 0 for 3 in the wild card game, Alvarez has gone 5 for 13 in the NLDS with three homers and five RBI. He has driven in at least one run in every playoff game in which he's played thus far.

    Pedro Alvarez lifts off again

    Pirates third baseman Pedro Alvarez went yard for the second day in a row Friday against the Cardinals in Game 2 of the National League Division Series.

    Alvarez took opposing starter Lance Lynn deep for a two-run shot in the second inning to give Pittsburgh an early 3-0 lead. He finished 2 for 4 with a walk, two runs scored and two RBI in a 7-1 victory. He has gone 3 of 7 with a walk, three runs scored, two homers and three RBI through the first two games of the NLDS.

    Pedro Alvarez goes yard in Game 1

    Pirates third baseman Pedro Alvarez provided the only run of the night for Pittsburgh during Thursday's Game 1 loss to the Cardinals in the NLDS. Alvarez launched a a 437-foot solo home run in fifth inning. He finished 1 for 3 with one run scored and one RBI in a 9-1 defeat.

    Cody Asche exits game after hit by throw

    Phillies third baseman Cody Asche was removed from Sunday's game against the Braves after taking a throw from outfielder Domonic Brown off the chin.

    The injury may require stitches for Asche, who ends the season with a .235/.302/.389 line, five home runs and 22 RBI in 162 at-bats.

    Jean Segura out of lineup for season finale

    Brewers shortstop Jean Segura is not in the starting lineup for Sunday's finale against the Mets. He returned from a hamstring injury Saturday, playing eight innings while going 0 for 4 at the plate.

    Segura is tied for the National League lead in stolen bases with 44 and has hit .294/.329/.423 with 12 home runs and 49 RBI in 588 at-bats.

    Jean Segura returns for penultimate game

    Brewers infielder Jean Segura was able to play Saturday against the Mets, his first appearance since Sept. 18 due to a hamstring injury. Segura played eight innings before being pulled in a double switch, after going 0 for 4 with a strikeouts.

    Segura enters the final game of the season hitting .294/.329/.423, with 12 home runs, 49 RBI and 44 stolen bases.

    Pedro Alvarez dials long distance in win

    Pirates third baseman Pedro Alvarez blasted his 36th home run of the season on Saturday in Cincinnati. Alvarez took starter Bronson Arroyo deep in the fourth inning for a solo shot.

    Alvarez hit one of six homers for the Pirates on the day. He finished the game going 2 for 4 and is batting .233 on the year for the Pirates. He now has exactly 100 RBI on the season.

    The 26-year-old has gone 6 for 17 over his last four games with two homers and six RBI. He hasn't had the best of averages, but he's been a big-time producer for the Pirates on their run to the wild card playoff game.

    Jean Segura finally back in lineup

    Brewers infielder Jean Segura finally returned to the starting lineup Saturday against the Mets. He had been out since Sept. 18 due to a hamstring injury. Segura returns to action boasting a .296 batting average over 584 at-bats for the Brewers.
