  • Red Sox's Rafael Devers: Gets day off Friday

Devers is not in the lineup Friday against the Rays, Jason Mastrodonato of the Boston Herald reports.

Devers sits as the Red Sox take on the left-handed Blake Snell. The off day is just Devers' second so far this season. The 21-year-old is hitting a mediocre .261/.320/.424 with three home runs through his first 103 plate appearances this year. Eduardo Nunez will slide over to third base in his absence, with Tzu-Wei Lin handling second base.

  • Jace Peterson SS | ARI

Orioles' Jace Peterson: Getting regular starts

Peterson is in the lineup for the third straight game Friday against the Tigers.

Peterson has started every game since being claimed by the Orioles on Tuesday. His temporary starting role won't last too much longer, though, with Jonathan Schoop working his way back from an oblique injury.

  • Matt Duffy 3B | TEX

Rays' Matt Duffy: Will return to lineup Friday

Manager Kevin Cash said that Duffy (hamstring) will be activated from the disabled list prior to Friday's game, and he will return to the lineup at third base against the Red Sox, MLB Network Radio reports.

Duffy recently participated in a simulated game Wednesday and went 2-for-3 with one RBI during Thursday's rehab outing for Triple-A Durham. The infielder hasn't experienced any problems with his right hamstring since going down last Monday, and should be fully operational moving forward. Expect Duffy to be utilized as the Rays' primary third baseman while Daniel Robertson serves as a utility man around the diamond. Duffy will officially be reinstated from the DL in the coming hours to go along with a corresponding move.

  • Red Sox's Rafael Devers: Slumping, but contributes Thursday

Devers went 0-for-2 with a walk, an RBI and a stolen base in Thursday's 5-4 win over the Blue Jays.

The 21-year-old Devers has just two hits over his last 21 at-bats but still found a way to help the team win the rubber game of the series in Toronto. He stole his first bag of the season -- steals aren't typically part of his game -- and plated a run with a sacrifice fly. The RBI was the first in six games for Devers, who is tied for the team lead with J.D. Martinez at 18.

  • Yoan Moncada 3B | LAA

White Sox's Yoan Moncada: Leads off with homer for second straight game

Moncada went 3-for-5 with a solo home run in the White Sox's 6-3 win over Kansas City on Thursday.

It was the second straight game with a leadoff long ball for the 22-year-old infielder, who now has a .923 OPS through 87 at-bats. After hovering around the Mendoza Line for much of the first part of the season, this three-hit effort brought his average up to .264 and his on-base percentage to .360. If this recent hot streak turns out to be representative of what Moncada is capable of doing over a whole season, watch out, because any fantasy owners who scooped him up late or on the waiver wire could have a legitimate five-category asset on their hands.

  • Danny Valencia 3B | BAL

Orioles' Danny Valencia: Hits solo home run

Valencia went 2-for-4 with a solo home run Thursday against the Rays.

Valencia hit his third home run of the season off Sergio Romo in the eighth inning. He is currently locked into regular playing time due to the mounting injuries around the Orioles infield and has provided occasional power production. However, he has done little else with his opportunities, as this was his first multi-hit game of the season.

  • Jean Segura 3B | CLE

Mariners' Jean Segura: Productive all-around night Wednesday

Segura went 2-for-5 with an RBI single, a stolen base and a run in a win over the White Sox on Wednesday.

Segura continues to do plenty of damage out of the two hole, as he's now hit safely in six of his last seven games. The hot-hitting shortstop has racked up four doubles and eight RBI during that stretch, pushing his April line to an impressive .303/.330/.449 over 94 plate appearances.

  • Tigers' Jeimer Candelario: Rests Thursday

Candelario is not in the lineup against the Pirates on Thursday.

Candelario will spend getaway day on the bench after going 4-for-10 with three extra-base hits, including a home run, during both games of Wednesday's doubleheader. Niko Goodrum will start at third base and bat fifth in his stead.

  • Yoan Moncada 3B | LAA

White Sox's Yoan Moncada: Hits leadoff bomb Wednesday

Moncada went 1-for-4 with a solo home run in Wednesday's 4-3 loss to the Mariners.

Moncada put a charge into a Felix Hernandez changeup to lead off the game for the White Sox. It was his fifth homer of the season and first time leading off a game with a four-bagger. The switch-hitting second baseman is starting to make an impact. Eight of his last 10 hits have gone for extra bases, including his last five. That's raised his slugging percentage to .524.

  • Alex Bregman 3B | CHC

Astros' Alex Bregman: Raps three-run double Wednesday

Bregman went 1-for-4 with three RBI in Wednesday's 5-2 win over the Angels.

The Astros were flummoxed over the first 3.2 innings by Angels starter Nick Tropeano, who retired the first 11 batters faced before losing command in the fourth. He walked two batters and hit another before a four-seamer to Bregman caught too much of the plate and was roped for a bases-clearing double. That provided all the space Justin Verlander needed to secure his fourth win of the season. The 24-year-old third baseman has hit safely in seven of the last eight, going 12-for-33 (.364) with four doubles and six RBI.
