Athletics' Matt Chapman: Reaches 20 homers

Chapman went 1-for-3 with a two-run homer and a walk in Saturday's 4-0 win over the Angels.

Chapman's 20th home run of the year was the biggest hit of the game. It came on the first pitch from Angels reliever Trevor Cahill after he replaced starter Tyler Skaggs in the fifth inning. Chapman's been steady recently with four homers and eight RBI in his last nine games, batting .300 (9-for-30) over that span. For the year, the third baseman is hitting .264/.353/.532 with 46 RBI and 55 runs scored.

  • Matt Duffy 3B | TEX

Rays' Matt Duffy: Takes part in running drills

Duffy (hamstring) ran at 85 percent Friday, Marc Topkin of the Tampa Bay Times reports.

Duffy said his hamstring felt "okay" and he was still a little sore Saturday, so he still has a few hurdles to cross before he is ready to play for the Rays again. There is currently no timetable for Duffy's return, but he is hoping to be back on the field at some point this season.

  • Yoan Moncada 3B | LAA

White Sox's Yoan Moncada: Back in action

Moncada (knee) is in the lineup for Saturday's game against the Twins.

Moncada did not start Friday after suffering a knee contusion two days prior, but manager Rick Renteria indicated Moncada could be back in the lineup Saturday, and that will indeed be the case. Moncada will man the hot corner and hit second against Twins starter Michael Pineda.

  • Jake Burger 1B | TEX

White Sox's Jake Burger: Hopes to play in AZL games

Burger (heel) may be able to return in time to see action in the AZL this season, Scott Merkin of MLB.com reports.

He has not played in a game since 2017 due to multiple Achilles injuries. Playing in AZL games would be the equivalent of a rehab assignment for the 23-year-old third baseman. If he is unable to get back before the end of the AZL season, he may play in instructs.

  • Yoan Moncada 3B | LAA

White Sox's Yoan Moncada: Absence could be brief

Manager Rick Renteria said Moncada (knee) could be used in an emergency Friday, and could return to the lineup Saturday, James Fegan of The Athletic reports.

Moncada was held out of Friday's lineup after fouling a ball off his knee in the White Sox's last game Wednesday, but based on his manager's comments, he does not appear to be facing any sort of extended absence.

  • Yoan Moncada 3B | LAA

White Sox's Yoan Moncada: Sidelined Friday

Moncada (knee) is not in the lineup for Friday's game against the Twins.

Moncada was removed from Wednesday's game with a right knee bruise after a hit-by-pitch and will require more than Thursday's scheduled off day to recover. Jose Rondon is starting at third base in his absence Friday.

  • Jose Ramirez 3B | CLE

Indians' Jose Ramirez: Heading to paternity list

Ramirez was placed on the paternity list Friday, Zack Meisel of The Athletic reports.

Ramirez will take the weekend to attend the birth of his child, while Yu Chang was called up from Triple-A Columbus and will start at third base Friday. Ramirez can spend up to three days on the paternity list and figures to rejoin the Indians on Tuesday in Kansas City.

  • Matt Chapman 3B | SF

Athletics' Matt Chapman: Smacks 19th homer

Chapman went 2-for-4 with a solo home run in a win over the Cardinals on Wednesday.

Chapman gave the Athletics a bit of breathing room in the pitcher's duel, smacking a 415-foot shot in the seventh off Adam Wainwright for his third home run in the last six games. Chapman also extended his on-base streak to an impressive 13 consecutive contests, a stretch that now includes six multi-hit tallies.

  • Tigers' Jeimer Candelario: Second straight start

Candelario will start at third base and bat sixth Thursday against the Rangers.

After being recalled from Triple-A Toledo on Wednesday, Candelario looks like he'll receive another spin as the Tigers' everyday option at the hot corner. He went 2-for-3 with a double in his return to the Detroit lineup and will be rewarded with a second straight start as the series wraps up. Given that Candelario is still only batting .189/.283/.283 over 180 plate appearances this season at the big-league level, he'll need to string together a few quality performances before warranting attention in most fantasy formats.

  • Twins' Willians Astudillo: Shut down with oblique strain

The Twins placed Astudillo on the 10-day injured list Thursday with a left oblique strain.

The injury will keep Astudillo on the shelf through the All-Star break, leaving the Twins without yet another versatile utility option with Ehire Adrianza (abdomen) and Marwin Gonzalez (hamstring) already on the IL. Minnesota called up LaMonte Wade from Triple-A Rochester in a corresponding move to bolster the team's depth in the outfield.
