  • Yoan Moncada 3B | LAA

Angels' Yoan Moncada: Exits with injury

Moncada was removed from Friday's game against the Dodgers with an apparent thumb injury, Jeff Fletcher of The Orange County Register reports.

Moncada missed nearly a month of action while on the injured list because of a sprained right thumb, and he appeared to aggravate it during a swing in the ninth inning. If the 29-year-old ends up having to miss any more time due to his latest flare-up, Kevin Newman and Tim Anderson would be the leading candidates to pick up playing time in the infield.

  • Twins' Ryan Fitzgerald: Joins active roster

The Twins selected Fitzgerald's contract from Triple-A St. Paul on Friday, Dan Hayes of The Athletic reports.

The 30-year-old was added to the Twins' taxi quad earlier Friday, and he'll now join the active roster with Carlos Correa (concussion) moving to the injured list. Fitzgerald has been great in Triple-A this season, slashing .328/.426/.528 across 148 plate appearances, but he'll likely fill in as infield depth while Brooks Lee starts at shortstop in Correa's absence. If Fitzgerald does make it into a game, he will be making his MLB debut.

  • Yankees' Oswaldo Cabrera: Unlikely to return this season

Yankees manager Aaron Boone said Friday that it's "probably unlikely" Cabrera (ankle) returns this season, Greg Joyce of the New York Post reports.

Doctors found ligament damage around Cabrera's fractured left ankle, so his surgery was a little more invasive than hoped. While there is no official timetable for the utility player's return, Boone seems pessimistic about the possibility. Oswald Peraza and Jorbit Vivas have handled third base for the Yankees since Cabrera was injured, but DJ LeMahieu could become the regular there once Jazz Chisholm (oblique) returns to play second base.

  • Twins' Ryan Fitzgerald: On taxi squad

Fitzgerald has been added to the Twins' taxi squad, Dan Hayes of The Athletic reports.

Both Carlos Correa and Byron Buxton are in concussion protocol, so Fitzgerald is around in the event one or both of them needs to go on the 7-day concussion injured list. Fitzgerald has slashed .328/.426/.528 with four homers and three steals at Triple-A St. Paul this season. The 30-year-old is not on the 40-man roster and has never played in the big leagues.

  • Ernie Clement SS | TOR

Blue Jays' Ernie Clement: Not in Friday's lineup

Clement is not in the lineup for Friday's contest versus the Tigers.

Clement had started each of the previous seven tilts at second base but will take a seat for Friday's series opener. Michael Stefanic is at the keystone and batting eighth for the Blue Jays.

  • Max Schuemann 2B | ATH

Athletics' Max Schuemann: Homers in massive loss

Schuemann went 1-for-2 with a solo home run and a walk in Thursday's 19-2 loss to the Dodgers.

Schuemann started at second base, entering the starting nine for the first time since April 29. He has yet to bat higher than ninth in the order while serving as a utility player throughout the early stages of the campaign. The 27-year-old has done fine when called upon, batting .250 with a .752 OPS, one homer, one RBI, six runs scored, two stolen bases and two triples over 39 plate appearances. However, it'll likely take injuries to other players for Schuemann to carve out a larger role.

  • Addison Barger SS | TOR

Blue Jays' Addison Barger: Launches second homer

Barger went 2-for-4 with a solo home run in Thursday's 8-3 loss to the Rays.

Barger's two homers this season have come over the last four games. His multi-hit effort Thursday salvaged a difficult divisional series for the third baseman, who was 0-for-7 with three strikeouts across the previous two contests to follow up a five-game hitting streak. On the year, he's at a .231/.286/.415 slash line with nine RBI, seven runs scored, six doubles and no stolen bases over 70 plate appearances. Barger has started seven games in a row at third base and will likely continue to see ample playing time until Andres Gimenez (quadriceps) is able to return.

  • Vinny Capra SS | CHW

White Sox's Vinny Capra: Claimed by White Sox

The White Sox claimed Capra off waivers from the Brewers on Thursday, Todd Rosiak of the Milwaukee Journal Sentinel reports.

Capra had been designated for assignment by Milwaukee last week after going just 4-for-54 at the dish. He is out of minor-league options, so the utility player will go directly onto Chicago's active roster.

  • Will Wagner 2B | SD

Blue Jays' Will Wagner: Out at Triple-A with sore foot

Blue Jays manager John Schneider said Thursday that Wagner has been sidelined recently at Triple-A Buffalo after fouling a ball off his foot, Ben Nicholson-Smith of Sportsnet.ca reports.

Wagner hasn't played since Saturday but is expected back in action soon, per Schneider. The infielder is 8-for-30 with two home run in eight games with Buffalo since being optioned there in late April.

  • Ramon Urias 2B | HOU

Orioles' Ramon Urias: Resting up Thursday

Urias is out of the lineup for Thursday's game against the Twins.

After a week-and-a-half-long absence due to a hamstring strain, Urias made his return from the injured list Wednesday. He started at third base and went 0-for-3 with a walk and a run scored during Baltimore's 6-3 loss in the first game of a doubleheader, then sat out a 8-6 loss in the second game. Emmanuel Rivera will receive a second straight start at the hot corner Thursday as the Orioles wrap up their series with the Twins, but Urias could see the bulk of the starts at the position once he's further removed from the hamstring injury.
