DJ LeMahieu 2B | NYY
Yankees' DJ LeMahieu: Nearing return from COVID-19
LeMahieu (illness) is expected to rejoin the Yankees later this week, Ken Rosenthal of The Athletic reports.
The 32-year-old has been absent from summer training after testing positive for COVID-19, but he was reportedly asymptomatic and is about to join the team. LeMahieu will have less than a week to prepare for the season with Opening Day set for July 23 against the Nationals, so he could remain on the injured list for the start of the season if he needs more time. Regardless, the veteran infielder joining his teammates is a significant development toward his early season availability.

Abraham Toro 1B | BOS
Astros' Abraham Toro: Awaits test results
Toro did not participate in Tuesday's workout while he awaits his latest COVID-19 test result, Brian McTaggart of MLB.com reports.
Toro is a near-certainty to be part of Houston's 30-man active roster when Opening Day rolls around next week.

Matt Duffy 3B | TEX
Yankees' Matt Duffy: Chance to make Opening Day
Duffy is being considered for a roster spot with the Yankees for Opening Day, given D.J. LeMahieu's trip to the IL, Bryan Hoch of MLB.com reports.
Duffy has some experience at second base (18 games) but has also shifted over to the infield with the Rays on many occasions. LeMahieu's status in returning from a positive COVID-19 test is uncertain, while the Yankees' other options at second base are Tyler Wade and Thairo Estrada.

Alex Bregman 3B | CHC
Astros' Alex Bregman: Works on swing
Bregman admitted his swing is not where it needs to be and continues to work on his mechanics, Brian McTaggart of MLB.com reports.
Bregman had a late start to camp and is trying to build up plate appearances and see as much pitching as possible. "I'm going to continue to work hard and continue [to work on] those mechanical issues we have going on right now," said the third baseman. Bregman homered in four at-bats during Monday's intrasquad game, which was a step in the right direction, and is confident he'll be ready for Opening Day.

Jake Burger 1B | TEX
White Sox's Jake Burger: To get reps in independent league
Burger (Achilles) will play in a local St. Louis league to get game reps in this season, James Fegan of The Athletic reports.
Burger hasn't gotten any game action in since 2017 due to Achilles issues. With minor-league games cancelled this season, he'll have to turn elsewhere for reps. He hasn't been included in the White Sox's 60-man player pool but will be allowed to play independent ball in order to stay sharp.

Willians Astudillo 3B | MIA
Twins' Willians Astudillo: Still not cleared to participate
Astudillo, who is on the Covid-19 IL, still has not been cleared to participate in summer camp, though he is asymptomatic and feeling well, Twins president of baseball operations Derek Falvey told the St. Paul PIoneer Press.
Astudillo tested positive for COVID-19 before summer camp began and has been quarantined away from the team. He was on the major-league roster bubble before spring training was shut down in March, as it wasn't clear if the Twins would keep three catchers. However, Astudillo looked set to make the initial expanded roster as a third catcher, but it's not certain he'll be in game shape when the regular season begins even if he's cleared to join camp soon.

Yoan Moncada 3B | LAA
White Sox's Yoan Moncada: Uncertain status for Opening Day
White Sox hitting coach Frank Menechino is uncertain how many at-bats Moncada (undisclosed) will need to be ready for the regular season, Daryl Van Schouwen of the Chicago Sun-Times reports.
Moncada, who was placed on the injured list Friday, could be eligible to return before the regular season starts. He has not yet reported to camp and described his hitting activity at home in Miami during the shutdown as "limited." Menechino was at first reticent to estimate a number of at-bats Moncada needs once he's been activated but then offered a timeline to Scott Merkin of MLB.com. "I think 10, 15 at-bats to see where he's at. And then, probably, I'd say 20 at-bats to get him started in the right direction," Menechino said. "As far as days, I don't know what he's able to do while he's not here." If Moncada is unable to start the season, Leury Garcia or Danny Mendick could fill in at third base.

Yoan Moncada 3B | LAA
White Sox's Yoan Moncada: Placed on 10-day injured list
Moncada (undisclosed) was placed on the 10-day injured list Friday.
Moncada was absent from workouts at the beginning of the week, and he'll now be sidelined for at least 10 days for an undisclosed reason. The team didn't provide a reason for his placement on the injured list, and it's unclear when Moncada could be ready to return to the field.

Isaac Paredes 3B | HOU
Tigers' Isaac Paredes: Lands on injured list
Paredes was placed on the 10-day injured list for undisclosed reasons Friday, Cody Stavenhagen of The Athletic reports.
The Tigers wouldn't legally be allowed to confirm whether or not Paredes' absence is related to COVID-19. It's not clear when Paredes is expected to return to the field, though he's unlikely to play a major role in Detroit this season even if healthy, as he's yet to advance beyond Double-A.
