Red Sox manager Alex Cora said Friday that he thinks Devers (shoulder) will return to the lineup Saturday, Jen McCaffrey of The Athletic reports.

Devers will miss a second straight start Friday with continued left shoulder soreness, but he's evidently feeling better and should be back in there Saturday. The third baseman is slashing just .184/.326/.395 in his first 10 games this season, so it's possible the shoulder has been affecting him at the plate.

Ibanez (hamstring) has begun hitting and going through light agility drills, Cody Stavenhagen of The Athletic reports.

Ibanez is on the injured list with a left hamstring strain which he suffered last weekend, but he's feeling well enough to start incorporating some baseball activities. There's no timeline for his return yet, but he would seem to have a good shot to be back before the end of April.

Moncada (adductor) was transferred to the 60-day injured list by the White Sox on Friday.

The White Sox needed to clear a couple spots on their 40-man roster and this move frees up one of them. Moncada is expected to be sidelined for 3-to-6 months with a left adductor strain.

Castro is not in the lineup for Friday's game against the Tigers.

Castro has just three hits in 32 plate appearances this season and will head to the bench Friday for the second consecutive contest. Kyle Farmer will man the hot corner and bat sixth in the series opener at Detroit.

Devers was held out of Thursday's game against Baltimore with soreness in his shoulder. The team is hoping he'll avoid a stint on the injured list, though it appears likely that he'll miss his second consecutive game Friday. Pablo Reyes started in Devers' place at the hot corner Thursday.

Devers isn't playing in Thursday's game against the Orioles due to continued problems with his left shoulder, Mac Cerullo of the Boston Herald reports.

Manager Alex Cora said he's hopeful Devers won't require a trip to the injured list, but the 27-year-old's shoulder is affecting his swing enough to warrant a day off for recovery. Pablo Reyes will get the nod at third base Thursday while Devers sits, and the Red Sox will presumably check back in on the All-Star third baseman before Friday's series opener against the Angels.

Gelof went 1-for-5 with a solo home run in Wednesday's loss to the Rangers.

Gelof's eighth-inning solo shot didn't have much of an impact on the final score, but it extended his on-base streak to six games and marked his second homer over his past three contests. The second baseman is 6-for-14 with five RBI over that three-game span, as he appears to be turning things around following a slow start to the campaign. Prior to the the offensive spurt, Gelof began the season batting .156 with no homers or RBI and a 5:13 BB:K across his first 32 at-bats.

Garcia went 0-for-3 with a walk, a run and two stolen bases in an 11-2 win over Houston on Wednesday.

Garcia was one of only two Royals starters who didn't get a hit in the rout, but he maximized the impact of his one time reaching base -- on a sixth-inning leadoff walk -- when he proceeded to steal second and third base before coming home on a Vinnie Pasquantino sacrifice fly. Garcia has gone without a hit in each of his past three games to drop his season average to .204, but he continues to lead off for a Kansas City squad that is currently 8-4 -- its best record through 12 games since 2016.

Caminero (quadriceps) could return from the 7-day injured list by this weekend, Marc Topkin reports.

Caminero landed on the injured list after his third game with Triple-A Durham but is nearing a return after engaging in a workout Tuesday without issue. While the Rays appear intent on giving him some plate appearances in the minors, their plans could change with each of Brandon Lowe (oblique), Jonathan Aranda (finger) and Taylor Walls (hip) sidelined.

Cabrera is out of the lineup for Wednesday's game against the Marlins.

The switch-hitting Cabrera finds himself on the bench for the third day in a row, with each absence coming against a left-handed starting pitcher. He looks as though he could occupy the larger side of a platoon at third base with the right-handed-hitting Jon Berti until DJ LeMahieu (foot) is ready to return from the injured list.
