Gelof has continued to hit well in September, going 18-for-63 (.286) with two home runs and three steals over 16 contests this month. The second baseman has picked up two of those steals over his last four games. He's up to a .269/.339/.520 slash line with 12 homers, 12 thefts, 26 RBI and 34 runs scored through 57 games this season.

Twins' Royce Lewis: Knocks another homer
Lewis went 1-for-4 with a solo home run in Monday's loss against the Reds.
Lewis took Connor Phillips deep for a monstrous 424-foot solo homer in the fourth inning. The former No. 1 pick continues his scorching September, during which he has hit .313 with six homers, 23 RBI and 15 runs over 64 at-bats. Lewis is slashing .308/.364/.551 on the season.

Rangers' Josh Jung: Set to return Monday
Jung (thumb) was activated from the 10-day injured list Monday and will start at third base and bat fifth in the Rangers' series opener with the Red Sox, Evan Grant of The Dallas Morning News reports.
Jung went through workouts earlier Monday, with manager Bruce Bochy verifying afterward that the 26-year-old would return to the lineup after team doctors were satisfied with how he his surgically repaired left thumb had responded to baseball activities. The return of the All-Star third baseman should be a major boon to the Texas lineup as the Rangers look to secure a playoff spot over the final two weeks of the season.

Rays' Taylor Walls: Back from paternity leave
The Rays reinstated Walls (personal) from the paternity list Monday, Tricia Whitaker of Bally Sports Sun reports.
Walls was away for a couple of days while tending to more important real-life matters. Tristan Gray had replaced Walls on the roster but will now head back to Triple-A Durham with Walls back in tow.

Guardians' Jose Ramirez: Smacks homer on birthday
Ramirez went 1-for-4 with a solo home run and an additional RBI in Sunday's 9-2 win over the Rangers.
Ramirez celebrated his 31st birthday with a fourth-inning solo shot, which sparked the Guardians' nine-run rally in the frame. He also contributed an RBI on a groundout in his second at-bat of the inning. Ramirez is batting .292 (19-for-65) in September, and he's at a .278/.352/.486 slash line with 24 homers, 78 RBI, 83 runs scored and 25 stolen bases through 144 games overall.

Rangers' Josh Jung: Could be activated Monday
Jung (thumb) will rejoin the Rangers on Monday and could be activated from the 10-day injured list ahead of the team's series opener with the Red Sox after an encouraging weekend of rehab, Shawn McFarland of The Dallas Morning News reports. "He had a really good day yesterday, a really good day," Rangers manager Bruce Bochy said. "A lot of improvement from the day before as far as comfort, seeing the ball, hard contact."
Jung, who worked out at the Rangers' complex in Arizona this weekend, faced live pitching and played a three-inning simulated game Saturday. He'll fly back to Texas on Sunday, rejoin the club on Monday and be further evaluated. Jung met with Arizona-based hand specialist Dr. Don Sheridan on Thursday and was given full clearance to return to baseball activities. He's been sidelined since Aug. 7 with a fractured left thumb that he had surgically repaired.

Red Sox's Rafael Devers: Homers again Sunday
Devers went 2-for-2 with two walks and a solo home run in Sunday's loss against the Blue Jays.
Devers tied the game 2-2 in the top of the ninth inning with a homer off Erik Swanson, his 33rd of the season and his second is any many days. The 26-year-old Devers has been red hot of late, going 13-for-30 (.433) with three homers in his last nine games. Overall, he's batting .276 with an .876 OPS, 98 RBI and 87 runs scored through 614 plate appearances this season.

Royals' Maikel Garcia: Notches 22nd steal
Garcia went 0-for-3 with a stolen base, two walks and two runs scored in Saturday's 10-8 win over the Astros.
Garcia went hitless for the seventh time in his last nine games, but the two walks allowed him to generate some production anyway. The infielder is at a .273/.325/.368 slash line with 22 steals, four home runs, 49 RBI and 53 runs scored through 112 contests this season. While he's seen the bulk of the playing time at third base throughout the campaign, his recent struggles at the plate have opened the door for utility man Nick Loftin to earn time at the hot corner.

Tigers' Zach McKinstry: Sitting amid slump
McKinstry is out of the lineup Sunday versus the Angels.
Andy Ibanez will start at second base and bat second as Zack Short plays shortstop and hits eighth. McKinstry has slashed just .135/.211/.154 with 17 strikeouts over his last 57 plate appearances dating back to Aug. 30.

Moncada is out of the lineup Sunday versus the Twins.
Moncada had appeared in six straight games after not starting Sept. 10 due to aggravating his knee in the prior game. In the six-game span, the third baseman is 5-for-23. Zach Remillard will take his place in the lineup Sunday.
