Twins' Jose Miranda: Resting after historic streak ends

Miranda is out of the lineup for Sunday's game against the Astros.

Miranda will get a breather for the series finale after he recorded a pair of base hits and was hit by a pitch before flying out in his final at-bat of Saturday's 9-3 win. The flyout ended a streak of 13 consecutive plate appearances in which he got on base and 12 consecutive at-bats with a hit, the latter of which tied an MLB record. Miranda still has a 10-game active hitting streak, which he'll presumably put on hold Sunday before he likely returns to the lineup for Monday's series opener against the White Sox.

  • Brett Harris 3B | ATH

Athletics' Brett Harris: First three-hit game of career

Harris went 3-for-4 with an RBI infield single, two doubles, a walk and three runs in a win over the Orioles on Saturday.

The rookie was a catalyst in the Athletics' 19-run outburst, driving in Armando Alvarez with his second-inning single and crossing the plate on three occasions thanks to his constant presence on the basepaths. Harris has reached safely in four of the first five games of his current big-league stint, and Saturday marked the first three-hit game of his young career.

  • Tyler Nevin 3B | ATH

Athletics' Tyler Nevin: Joins offensive outburst

Nevin went 3-for-5 with a solo home run, two additional runs and a double in a 19-8 thrashing of the Orioles on Saturday.

Nevin entered Saturday hitting a horrid .059 (4-for-68) since May 3, but his bat came to life on a massive day for Oakland's offense. The infielder nearly matched his hit total over the 25-game, 4-for-68 skid, and he equaled the amount of runs he had scored over that stretch. Nevin's slump has been costing him playing time -- Saturday marked his first appearance in a game since June 30.

Twins' Jose Miranda: Ties major-league record in win

Miranda went 2-for-3 with an RBI in Saturday's 9-3 win over the Astros. He tied a major-league record in the fourth inning by recording a hit in his 12th consecutive at-bat.

It's safe to say Miranda has been on fire, registering his third consecutive multi-hit effort and extending his overall hit streak to 10 games. He has enjoyed a major bounce-back campaign in 2024, slashing .328/.370/.531 with nine home runs, 43 RBI and 35 runs scored over 262 plate appearances.

  • Brooks Lee SS | MIN

Twins' Brooks Lee: Hits first career homer in win

Lee went 1-for-4 with a two-run home run in Saturday's 9-3 win over the Astros.

Lee took Hunter Brown deep in the third inning for his first career major-league home run. The 23-year-old has hit the ground running with the Twins, going 7-for-15 with a home run and six RBI over his first four games. While it's unclear exactly how much time Royce Lewis (groin) will miss, the rookie has made the most of his time in the big leagues so far.

  • Red Sox's Rafael Devers: Homer, steal in loss

Devers went 2-for-4 with a home run, two RBI, two runs scored and a stolen base in a 14-4 loss to the Yankees on Saturday.

Devers hit an RBI single in the third inning before stealing second and coming around to score later in the frame. He then chased Gerrit Cole in the fifth with his 26th career home run against the Yankees. The steal was just his second of the season, but the 27-year-old has slashed a fantastic .287/.373/.570 with 19 home runs, 53 RBI and 54 runs scored over 332 plate appearances.

  • Addison Barger SS | TOR

Blue Jays' Addison Barger: Back in minors

The Blue Jays optioned Barger to Triple-A Buffalo on Saturday.

With Justin Turner returning from the paternity list Saturday, Barger will end up as the odd man out of Toronto's 26-man roster. After rejoining the big-league squad in June, the 24-year-old outfielder slashed just .190/.227/.238 with four RBI in 44 plate appearances.

  • Josh H. Smith SS | TEX

Rangers' Josh Smith: Out again Saturday

Smith (glute) isn't in the Rangers' lineup for Saturday's game against the Rays.

Smith missed four games in June due to glute tightness, and he'll be missing his second consecutive game Saturday due to the same injury. Jonathan Ornelas will pick up another start at third base and bat ninth while Smith continues to recover.

  • Miguel Sano 3B | LAA

    Angels' Miguel Sano: Resting Saturday

Sano isn't in the Angels' lineup for Saturday's game versus the Cubs.

Sano has been held hitless in 13 at-bats over his last four games, so he'll get a day off to regroup against Kyle Hendricks and the Cubs. His absence will allow Luis Guillorme to pick up a start at the hot corner while batting eighth.

  • Alex Bregman 3B | CHC

Astros' Alex Bregman: Slugs 10th homer

Bregman went 2-for-4 with a three-run homer and two walks in Friday's win at Minnesota.

The veteran third baseman cracked a 404-foot, three-run blast off Kody Funderburk in the ninth inning for his first long ball since June 3. This marks the seventh season Bregman has reached double-digit homers in his nine-year career. Despite the recent power outage, the Houston third baseman has still been hitting well over his last 25 games, batting .295 (31-for-105) with 18 runs scored and 11 RBI.
