  • Thairo Estrada 2B | COL

    Rockies' Thairo Estrada: Hits IL

The Rockies placed Estrada (thumb) on the 10-day injured list Friday, retroactive to July 11.

Estrada jammed his thumb July 7 against Boston and has been diagnosed with a left thumb sprain. The IL move is backdated to before the All-Star break, so he'll become eligible to return during a three-game set against St. Louis next week. Ezequiel Tovar (oblique) was activated from the 10-day injured list in a corresponding move.

  • Liover Peguero SS | PIT

    Pirates' Liover Peguero: Call-up official

The Pirates called up Peguero from Triple-A Indianapolis on Friday.

As expected, Peguero will fill the hole vacated by the Pirates' trading Adam Frazier to the Royals. Peguero should provide some depth in the middle infield. He has slashed .251/.315/.369 with five home runs and eight stolen bases across 289 plate appearances with Indianapolis in 2025.

  • Liover Peguero SS | PIT

    Pirates' Liover Peguero: Call-up expected

Peguero has a spot in the Pirates' locker room and is expected to be recalled from Triple-A Indianapolis on Friday. Kevin Gorman of TribLive.com reports.

The Pirates traded Adam Frazier to Kansas City for Cam Devanney, who was immediately optioned to Triple-A, leaving an open spot on the 26-man roster. Peguero has played all four infield positions plus center field at Triple-A this season. However, he played only second base and shortstop in a brief stint with Pittsburgh earlier this year. With Frazier out of the picture, Peguero's easiest path to playing time will come in the middle infield.

  • Brandon Lowe 2B | TB

Rays' Brandon Lowe: Back from injured list

The Rays reinstated Lowe (oblique) from the 10-day injured list Friday.

The second baseman landed on the shelf just before the All-Star break due to oblique soreness and is ready to rejoin the Rays for the start of the second half. In 31 games since the start of June, Lowe had been one of the hotter hitters in baseball with eight homers and a .319/.366/.575 slash line.

  • Travis Bazzana 2B | CLE

    Guardians' Travis Bazzana: Officially activated

Bazzana (oblique) was activated from the 7-day injured list at Double-A Akron on Friday.

Bazzana has been on the shelf since mid-May with a strained right oblique, but he's been officially cleared to return to action with Akron. The first overall pick in the 2024 First-Year Player Draft appeared in 33 Double-A games before the injury, slashing .252/.362/.433 with four homers and eight stolen bases.

  • Thomas Saggese SS | STL

Cardinals' Thomas Saggese: Sent to minors

Saggese was optioned to Triple-A Memphis on Thursday, Jeff Jones of the Belleville News-Democrat reports.

Saggese filled primarily a bench role since he was recalled June 20, and he hit just .133 with three RBI and two runs scored across 45 at-bats. No official corresponding move has been made, but it could signify the return of Jordan Walker (appendix).

  • Royals' Michael Massey: Restarting assignment Friday

Massey (wrist) will begin a rehab assignment at Double-A Northwest Arkansas on Friday.

Massey landed on the injured list June 10 due to a left ankle sprain, but he was pulled off his rehab assignment July 3 after suffering a hairline fracture in his right wrist as a result of a hit-by-pitch. The Royals haven't specified how long they plan to keep the 27-year-old in the minors for his second rehab stint, but a return to Kansas City before the end of the month remains possible.

  • Brandon Lowe 2B | TB

Rays' Brandon Lowe: Will be re-evaluated Thursday

Rays president of baseball operations Erik Neander said that Lowe (oblique) will be re-evaluated after a workout Thursday to determine whether he will be activated from the 10-day injured list before Friday's game versus the Orioles, Marc Topkin of the Tampa Bay Times reports.

Lowe hasn't played since July 6 after tweaking his left oblique, finally landing on the IL on July 11. The Rays labeled the injury as tightness rather than a strain, seemingly giving him a better chance at a brief absence. If Lowe gets through Thursday's workout without any hiccups, he should skip a rehab assignment and rejoin the Rays' lineup Friday.

  • Travis Bazzana 2B | CLE

Guardians' Travis Bazzana: Returning to Double-A action Friday

Double-A Akron is expected to reinstate Bazzana (oblique) from the 7-day injured list Friday, SI.com reports.

Bazzana has been out of action with Akron since mid-May due to a right oblique strain, but he was cleared to resume a rehab assignment in the rookie-level Arizona Complex League on July 5. Through the first seven contests of his rehab assignment, Bazzana has gone 4-for-18 with two doubles, eight walks, seven runs, two RBI and one stolen base. The 22-year-old infielder posted a .795 OPS to go with four home runs and eight steals in 33 games for Akron before landing on the IL.

  • Adam Frazier 2B | KC

Royals' Adam Frazier: Heading back to Kansas City

The Royals acquired Frazier from the Pirates on Wednesday in exchange for infielder Cam Devanney, Robert Murray of FanSided.com reports.

Frazier spent the 2024 season in Kansas City and evidently made a positive impression despite slashing just .202/.282/.294 over 104 contests. The 33-year-old hasn't been much better in 2025 with a .255/.318/.336 batting line, but he offers some versatility and could see reps at second base and/or in left field against right-handed pitching.
