Guardians' Andres Gimenez: Exits Sunday with leg injury

Gimenez was removed from Sunday's game against the Astros after five innings due to left leg tightness, Mandy Bell of MLB.com reports.

Tyler Freeman came off the bench in the top of the sixth to replace Gimenez, who went 1-for-2 with a two-run home run -- his fourth of the season -- prior to departing. The initial diagnosis doesn't sound overly serious, but fantasy managers will still want to keep tabs on the second baseman's status heading into the Guardians' upcoming three-game series in San Diego. The Guardians are off Monday before heading to the West Coast on Tuesday.

  • Rockies' Harold Castro: Remains on bench

Castro is not in the starting lineup Sunday versus the Padres, Jeff Sanders of The San Diego Union-Tribune reports.

Castro will remain on the bench for a second straight game as the Rockies wrap up their series with the Padres. Coco Montes was called up from Triple-A Albuquerque and will make his major-league debut at second base, batting seventh against San Diego.

  • Adam Frazier 2B | LAA

Orioles' Adam Frazier: Goes deep Saturday

Frazier went 1-for-3 with a two-run home run and a walk in Saturday's 6-1 win over the Royals.

Frazier's eighth-inning blast put the finishing touches on the Orioles' win. The second baseman has gone just 8-for-38 (.211) over his last nine games, but five of those hits have gone for extra bases. He'd been seeing some time at leadoff versus right-handed pitchers, but Gunnar Henderson was in that spot Saturday and will be again Sunday. It's unclear if that switch is temporary or something that could stick while Cedric Mullins (groin) is on the injured list. Frazier is slashing .236/.300/.404 with seven homers, 28 RBI, 31 runs scored and six stolen bases over 62 contests.

  • Alan Trejo SS | COL

Rockies' Alan Trejo: Retreats to minors

The Rockies optioned Trejo to Triple-A Albuquerque on Sunday.

Trejo had been serving as a short-side platoon option in the infield for the Rockies, but he hadn't been especially effective in that role. Colorado called up infielder Coco Montes from Triple-A to serve as a replacement for Trejo, who has slashed .241/.271/.313 with zero home runs and four stolen bases across 119 plate appearances for Colorado on the season.

  • Coco Montes 2B | TB

Rockies' Coco Montes: Gets first big-league call-up

The Rockies selected Montes' contract from Triple-A Albuquerque on Sunday.

Montes has been raking at Albuquerque this season, batting .321 with 12 home runs, 47 RBI, 56 runs and four stolen bases over 282 plate appearances. He'll receive his first call-up to the big leagues and could settle into the short side of a platoon at second base with the lefty-hitting Harold Castro. Colorado optioned Alan Trejo to Albuquerque to clear room on the active roster for Montes.

  • Ha-seong Kim 2B | ATL

Padres' Ha-Seong Kim: Gets breather Sunday

Kim is out of the lineup versus Colorado on Sunday.

Kim will open Sunday's game on the bench for the first time in the month of June. The slick-fielding infielder will earn some rest, with Rougned Odor getting the start at second base and hitting seventh.

  • Edouard Julien 2B | COL

Twins' Edouard Julien: Leading off again Sunday

Julien will start at second base and serve as the Twins' leadoff hitter in Sunday's game against the Blue Jays.

After being called up from Triple-A St. Paul on Saturday, Julien stepped into the table-setting role in the Twins' 9-4 win and went 2-for-3 with a double, a walk, a stolen base and a run. While Jorge Polanco (hamstring) is on the injured list, Julien will have a clear path to everyday playing time at the keystone, and the on-base skills he's demonstrated at every stop of the minors should allow him to gain traction atop the lineup.

  • Jose Altuve 2B | HOU

Astros' Jose Altuve: Takes seat Sunday

Altuve is out of the lineup for Sunday's game against the Guardians, Julia Morales of AT&T SportsNet Southwest reports.

Due to the early start time (12:40 p.m. ET) for the series finale coupled with an off day Monday, the Astros appear to be holding out a number of lineup regulars for rest purposes. Along with Altuve, shortstop Jeremy Pena and catcher Martin Maldonado will be riding the pine Sunday. Mauricio Dubon will man the keystone and hit leadoff in Altuve's stead.

  • Josh Rojas 3B | CHW

Diamondbacks' Josh Rojas: Sitting against lefty

Rojas is out of the lineup for Sunday's game against the Tigers.

The lefty-hitting Rojas will take a seat for the series finale and for the second straight game while the Tigers bring another lefty (Joey Wentz) to the hill. Evan Longoria will step in for Rojas at third base.

  • Zack Short 3B | DET

Tigers' Zack Short: Sitting out Sunday

Short is out of the lineup for Sunday's game against the Diamondbacks, Evan Woodbery of MLive.com reports.

Short will hit the bench for the series finale after starting at second base in each of the past four games while going 3-for-14 with a double and three RBI. Nick Maton will step in for Short at the keystone.
