Biggio is out of the lineup for Wednesday's game against the Rangers.

Biggio has lately been filling the large side of a platoon at third base, so it's not a surprise he's sitting Wednesday with southpaw Jordan Montgomery pitching for Texas. Santiago Espinal will man the hot corner in Biggio's place and bat sixth.

Merrifield (groin) is starting in left field and batting fifth against the Rangers on Wednesday.

The 34-year-old sat out the previous two games with groin tightness but will return to the starting nine Wednesday versus Texas lefty Jordan Montgomery. Merrifield is mired in a 1-for-20 slump and has seen his playing time against right-handed pitchers slip, with Davis Schneider handling a larger role at second base.

Mauricio is absent from the lineup Wednesday versus the Diamondbacks.

Jeff McNeil will cover second base as Brandon Nimmo, Rafael Ortega and DJ Stewart start across the outfield. This is presumably a planned day of rest for Mauricio, who slugged his first major-league homer in the Mets' win over Arizona on Tuesday.

St. Louis placed Gorman on the 10-day injured list Wednesday with a Grade 2 right hamstring strain.

Gorman suffered the injury while legging out an infield single in Tuesday's win at Baltimore and could be in danger of missing the remainder of the 2023 campaign. The 23-year-old slugger holds an .805 OPS with 27 homers and 76 RBI through 119 games this season with the Cardinals, who have called up Juniel Querecuto from Triple-A Memphis in a corresponding roster move.

Massey went 1-for-5 with a three-run home run, a hit-by-pitch and two total runs scored in an 11-10 win over the White Sox in the second game of Tuesday's doubleheader.

Massey was on the bench for the matinee game before handling the keystone in the nightcap. The second baseman has had mixed results in September, hitting .235 with two homers and six RBI while also posting a 2:11 BB:K over nine contests this month. Overall, he's at a .221/.268/.365 slash line, 12 homers, six stolen bases, 49 RBI and 37 runs scored through 115 games. Top prospect Nick Loftin has started to infringe on Massey's starting role at second base, though Loftin's versatility also allows him to pick up time at other positions.

Polanco was activated from the bereavement list Wednesday, Do-Hyoung Park of MLB.com reports.

Polanco missed three games while tending to personal matters, but he's rejoined the Twins and is back in the lineup for Wednesday's series finale against the Rays. The veteran infielder will carry an .802 OPS into play Wednesday.

Lowe is absent from the lineup for Wednesday's contest in Minnesota.

The Twins are throwing southpaw Dallas Keuchel, so the lefty-hitting Lowe will take a seat. Osleivis Basabe will handle second base for the Rays in this one.

Mauricio went 1-for-4 with a two-run home run in Tuesday's 7-4 win over the Diamondbacks.

With the score tied 1-1 in the fourth inning, Mauricio put the Mets in the lead for good by ripping a Ryne Nelson fastball just fair down the right-field line. It was the first career big-league homer for the 22-year-old infielder, who is batting .306 (11-for-36) through his first 38 MLB plate appearances with two doubles, two runs, five RBI and a perfect 4-for-4 performance on steal attempts. Mauricio is also posting some impressive Statcast numbers with a 91.9 mph average exit velocity that is comparable to Mike Trout's and a 50.0 percent hard-hit rate that would rank in the 90th percentile if he had enough playing time to qualify. Only seven players this season have hit a ball harder than Mauricio's 117.3 mph max exit velocity, a list that includes Ronald Acuna, Matt Olson and Shohei Ohtani.

Arraez went 1-for-4 with a solo home run in Tuesday's 3-1 loss to the Brewers.

Arraez started Tuesday's game with fireworks, swatting his seventh long ball of the season in the first inning off Freddy Peralta. However, Arraez would be the only Marlin to cross home plate, as they ultimately fell 3-1. Through 10 games this month, Arraez is 13-for-39 (.333) with eight runs scored and six RBI while striking out just 4.8 percent of the time.

Ibanez went 2-for-4 with a walk, a double, a solo home run, two runs scored and two total RBI in Tuesday's extra-inning loss to the Reds.

Ibanez was bumped up to the No. 2 spot in the order and responded with a good game, which included his 11th home run of the season. The utility player has now batted second on 10 occasions this year, though he's primarily been lower in the order, most frequently appearing in the No. 8 spot. Ibanez may stay put for the time being after the strong effort, however.
