  • Jose Caballero 2B | NYY

Mariners' Jose Caballero: Reaches 20-steal mark

Caballero picked up his 20th stolen base of the season as a pinch runner in Wednesday's 6-1 win over the Padres.

Caballero was out of the lineup for the third game in a row, but he made a small impact off the bench. The second baseman has five steals since the All-Star break and 20 for the season. He's slashing .222/.349/.318 through 215 plate appearances, though it appears a combination of Dylan Moore and Josh Rojas will keep Caballero out of the lineup versus virtually all right-handed pitchers going forward.

  • Amed Rosario 3B | NYY

Dodgers' Amed Rosario: Not in lineup Wednesday

Rosario is not in the lineup Wednesday against the Diamondbacks.

Miguel Rojas will start at shortstop and bat ninth as Mookie Betts covers second base and bats leadoff. Rosario has tallied two homers, two doubles and nine RBI through his first 10 games with the Dodgers, but he's been on the bench two of the last three days.

  • Cavan Biggio RF | HOU

Blue Jays' Cavan Biggio: Returns to bench Wednesday

Biggio is out of the lineup for Wednesday's game against the Guardians.

The lefty-hitting Biggio had started the previous three games, but he'll hit the bench Wednesday with southpaw Logan Allen on the bump for Cleveland. With Kevin Kiermaier (elbow) landing on the 10-day injured list Tuesday, Biggio will likely be battling with rookie Davis Schneider for one spot in the Blue Jays' regular lineup versus right-handed pitching.

  • Adam Frazier 2B | LAA

Orioles' Adam Frazier: Back in starting nine Wednesday

Frazier (thumb) will start at second base and bat sixth in Wednesday's game against the Astros.

He'll draw back into the starting nine after hitting the bench for Tuesday's 7-6 loss with a jammed thumb. Frazier was still able to make a pinch-hitting appearance Tuesday and apparently checked out fine. He's expected to serve as a strong-side platoon player at second base, with Jordan Westburg typically picking up most of the starts against left-handed pitching.

  • Liover Peguero SS | PIT

Pirates' Liover Peguero: Moves to bench Wednesday

Peguero is out of the lineup for Wednesday's game against Atlanta.

Since being called up from Triple-A Indianapolis shortly after the All-Star break, Peguero has posted a respectable .749 OPS, but he hasn't completely broken free of a timeshare in the middle infield. He'll take a seat Wednesday for the second time in six games Wednesday while Jared Triolo replaces him at second base.

  • Bryson Stott 2B | PHI

Phillies' Bryson Stott: Sitting against lefty

Stott is out of the lineup Wednesday versus the Nationals.

Rodolfo Castro will start at second base and bat sixth as the Phillies face off against left-hander MacKenzie Gore. Stott is slashing .307/.374/.500 in 99 plate appearances since the All-Star break, though he's generally been more productive versus righties than lefties over the course of the 2023 campaign.

  • Andy Ibanez 2B | NYM

Tigers' Andy Ibanez: Sits in third straight game

Ibanez is out of the lineup for Wednesday's game against the Twins.

Ibanez appears to have lost hold of a regular spot in the Detroit lineup, as he finds himself on the bench versus a right-handed starting pitcher (Bailey Ober) for the third straight game. Zach McKinstry will get the starting nod at second base Wednesday, and both he and Nick Maton appear to have the edge over Ibanez for playing time at the keystone at the moment.

  • Devin Mann 2B | KC

Royals' Devin Mann: Dealt to KC

Mann was traded from the Dodgers to the Royals on Aug. 1 along with Derlin Figueroa in exchange for Ryan Yarbrough.

Mann was the epitome of a spare part for the Dodgers, as he doesn't project to add much value with the glove or hit enough to get significant playing time on a first-division team. He has seen time at third base, first base, second base and left field while batting .304/.401/.535 with 15 home runs and 104 strikeouts in 407 plate appearances at Triple-A this season.

  • Rockies' Brendan Rodgers: Sits with hamstring injury

Rodgers (hamstring) is out of the lineup for Wednesday's game against the Brewers.

Rodgers has spent most of the season on the shelf while recovering from shoulder surgery, but it's a tight right hamstring that will keep him on the bench for the second day in a row. Per MLB.com, Rodgers picked up the injury when he lunged after a grounder in the field in the first inning of Monday's 12-1 loss to the Brewers, but he was able to finish out the game. After Alan Trejo replaced Rodgers at the keystone for Tuesday's 7-3 win, Harold Castro will get the nod at second base for the series finale.

  • Royals' Michael Massey: Hits 10th long ball in win

Massey went 2-for-4 with a home run, a double and three RBI in Tuesday's win over Boston.

Massey put the finishing touches on Tuesday's victory, bending a two-run homer around Pesky's Pole in Boston to extend the lead to 9-2 in the seventh. Despite hitting just .230 in 22 second-half games, the 25-year-old infielder has launched six home runs with 15 RBI, 10 runs scored and two steals across 80 plate appearances during that span.
