  • Marcus Semien 2B | NYM

Rangers' Marcus Semien: Bats third against lefty

Semien batted third and went 0-for-2 with two walks in Tuesday's 4-2 loss to Houston.

Semien was shifted from leadoff to third in the order July 29 and has stayed there since, though Tuesday marked the first time the Rangers faced a left-hander in that span. It looks like the lineup tweak will stick against pitchers of both handedness. The second baseman is 6-for-29 with four walks, two doubles, one home run, three RBI and two runs scored over eight games as the No. 3 batter.

  • Zack Gelof 3B | ATH

Athletics' Zack Gelof: Swats solo home run

Gelof went 2-for-4 with a solo home run in Tuesday's loss to the White Sox.

Gelof took Jonathan Cannon deep in the fourth to give the Athletics their only run of the game. It was his second multi-hit game since July 30, but he sandwiched an 0-for-12 with eight strikeouts in four games in between. His 35.3 strikeout rate is currently second worst in the majors behind only Nolan Gorman. It has been a true sophomore slump campaign for Gelof, who's now slashing .192/.260/.360 with 14 homers, 36 RBI, 41 runs, 14 steals and a 27:128 BB:K in 363 plate appearances.

  • Orioles' Jackson Holliday: Homers again in loss

Holliday went 1-for-2 with a solo home run in Tuesday's 5-2 loss against the Blue Jays.

Holliday gave the Orioles a 1-0 lead on a solo blast in the sixth inning, homering in back-to-back games for the first time in his major-league career. Even so, he was replaced with a pinch hitter against a lefty in the eighth. The rookie has been impressive since being recalled July 31, hitting safely in five of six games with three homers, eight RBI and six runs scored across 23 plate appearances.

  • Royals' Michael Massey: Reaches 10-homer mark

Massey went 1-for-5 with a solo home run in Tuesday's 6-5 loss to the Red Sox.

Massey has started four of the last six games at second base, as he's lost out on playing time as the designated hitter with Freddy Fermin and Salvador Perez filling that role more frequently. Since the end of July, Massey has found more consistency at the plate, going 6-for-19 (.316) with five extra-base hits, including a pair of solo shots. For the season, the second baseman is slashing .255/.280/.480 with 10 homers, 31 RBI, 32 runs scored, 10 doubles and two triples over 58 games.

  • Nico Hoerner 2B | CHC

Cubs' Nico Hoerner: Steals base, scores twice in win

Hoerner went 2-for-4 with two runs scored in Tuesday's 7-3 win over the Twins. He also stole a base.

Hoerner reached 20 stolen bases in a season for the third straight year as he continued his strong recent play. Over his last 10 games, the infielder is batting .302, and he's swiped six bases in that span. Hoerner isn't a huge power threat with just four home runs on the season, but he can be an effective fantasy asset when he's reaching base and running often.

  • Kyle Farmer 3B | ATL

Twins' Kyle Farmer: Beginning rehab stint

Farmer (shoulder) is starting a rehab assignment Tuesday with Triple-A St. Paul, Dan Hayes of The Athletic reports.

Farmer has been out nearly a month due to a shoulder strain but has now been cleared for game action. The 33-year-old may not require a lengthy rehab stint before rejoining the Twins.

  • Bryson Stott 2B | PHI

Phillies' Bryson Stott: Idle against LHP

Stott isn't in the Phillies' lineup for Tuesday's game against the Dodgers.

The left-handed bat of Stott will step out of the lineup Tuesday as the Phillies face southpaw Clayton Kershaw. Edmundo Sosa will step in to cover second base while batting ninth.

  • Gavin Lux SS | TB

Dodgers' Gavin Lux: Not starting against lefty

Lux isn't in the Dodgers' lineup for Tuesday's game against Philadelphia.

Lux will take a seat Tuesday as the Dodgers prepare to face left-hander Cristopher Sanchez and the Phillies. Amed Rosario will fill in at second base and bat fifth.

  • Jeff McNeil 2B | ATH

Mets' Jeff McNeil: Resting against southpaw

McNeil isn't in the Mets' lineup for Tuesday's game versus the Rockies.

With lefty Kyle Freeland slated to throw the first pitch for Colorado, the lefty-hitting McNeil will step out of the lineup Tuesday. Jose Iglesias will fill in at the keystone and bat sixth.

  • Vidal Brujan SS | NYM

Marlins' Vidal Brujan: On bench Tuesday

Brujan is out of the lineup for Tuesday's game against the Reds.

Brujan drew the start in center field Monday -- a position he could see regular work at moving forward -- but he'll take a seat Tuesday in favor of Cristian Pache. The pair are likely to share center field duties, but Derek Hill could mix in at the position.
