  • Reds' Jonathan India: Taking seat Saturday

India isn't in the Reds' lineup for Saturday's game against the Brewers.

India will get a chance to catch his breath Saturday after playing in both games of Friday's doubleheader, during which he went 1-for-8 with a solo homer. Amed Rosario will fill the void at second base and bat sixth.

  • Brice Turang 2B | MIL

Brewers' Brice Turang: Swipes two more bags

Turang went 1-for-4 with a double, two walks, two stolen bases, a run scored and an RBI in a 14-0 win over the Reds in the second game of Friday's doubleheader.

Turang had gone 10 games without a steal prior to Friday, though he's now swiped 39 bags on the season, third most in the majors behind Elly De La Cruz and Shohei Ohtani. Overall, Turang's slashing .255/.321/.359 on the season with seven homers, 61 runs scored and 51 RBI through 516 plate appearances.

  • Orioles' Jackson Holliday: Flashes wheels in win

Holliday went 1-for-3 with a walk, a triple, a run scored, an RBI and a stolen base in Friday's 5-3 win over the Rockies.

In his first game at Coors Field, the place where his father Matt played the first five seasons of his career, Holliday made a big impression with his legs as he hit his second triple and stole his second bag in 38 MLB contests. The 20-year-old is still struggling to get comfortable in the majors -- Holliday hasn't had a multi-hit performance in 13 straight games, slashing just .122/.200/.195 over that stretch with a 3:15 BB:K. His ceiling remains sky high, but he's a risky fantasy option for the rest of 2024.

  • Rays' Richie Palacios: Ramping up

Palacios (knee) resumed on-field activities Friday, MLB.com reports.

Palacios has been sidelined since Aug. 2, and this activity represents his first significant progress. He's expected to play in a complex league game Sept. 9 and could be activated shortly thereafter.

  • Reds' Jonathan India: Homers in loss

India went 1-for-4 with a solo home run in a 5-4 extra-inning loss to the Brewers in the first game of Friday's doubleheader. He went 0-for-4 in the nightcap.

India set up the extra inning with a solo blast in the fifth inning to tie the game at 4-4. The home run was his 13th of the season and fifth during the month of August. The second half hasn't been kind to India (.184/.282/.313), but the Reds need healthy bodies and will continue to trot him out there every day.

  • Angels' Brandon Drury: Knocks homer in loss

Drury went 2-for-4 with a solo home run and an additional RBI in Friday's 9-5 loss to the Mariners.

Drury has homered twice over his last four contests after a 62-game power drought. He's still not hitting particularly well, going 3-for-26 (.115) over his last eight games. For the season, the infielder is at a .159/.243/.218 slash line with three homers, 13 RBI, 25 runs scored and six doubles over 284 plate appearances. Most of his lost playing time has been due to injuries, but the Angels could reduce his workload over the final month if they want to get a look at an infield prospect such as Christian Moore or evaluate other members of their current major-league roster.

  • Andres Gimenez SS | TOR

Guardians' Andres Gimenez: Homer and steal in win

Gimenez went 3-for-5 with a solo homer, a steal, and an additional run scored in Friday's win versus Pittsburgh.

The Cleveland second baseman slugged a 375-foot solo shot off Carmen Mlodzinski in the fifth inning for his sixth long ball of the year. Gimenez later swiped second base in the seventh to collect his ninth steal in the month of August and 25th of the season. The 25-year-old is now slashing .254/.305/.333 with 57 runs scored and 53 RBI across 528 plate appearances.

  • Padres' Xander Bogaerts: Goes deep, swipes bag

Bogaerts went 1-for-3 with a home run, two RBI, two runs scored, a stolen base and a walk in Friday's win over Tampa Bay.

Bogaerts walked and stole second base in the fourth inning before capping off his night with a ninth-inning solo homer. He snapped a 13-game homerless drought and has gone deep just twice in 27 games this month. However, since returning from the injured list in July, Bogaerts has gone 50-for-152 (.329) through 40 games. He owns a .268/.311/.372 slash line with seven homers and nine steals through 87 games.

  • Brett Wisely 2B | ATL

Giants' Brett Wisely: Recalled from Triple-A

The Giants recalled Wisely from Triple-A Sacramento on Friday, Alex Pavlovic of NBC Sports Bay Area reports.

The Giants elected to outright Thairo Estrada to Triple-A after he cleared waivers Friday, so Wisely will now come up from the minors to replenish San Francisco's infield depth. The 25-year-old has slashed .249/.285/.363 with 24 RBI across 215 plate appearances in the majors this year, though he's gone 10-for-37 with two homers and seven RBI since returning to Sacramento on Aug. 19. He could form a platoon at second base with the righty-hitting Casey Schmitt.

  • Thairo Estrada 2B | BAL

Giants' Thairo Estrada: Outrighted to Triple-A

The Giants outrighted Estrada to Triple-A Sacramento on Friday, Alex Pavlovic of NBC Sports Bay Area reports.

Estrada was placed on waivers Wednesday but went unclaimed. The infielder has struggled in 2024, logging a .590 OPS in 381 plate appearances with a .126 ISO. Brett Wisely was recalled from Sacramento to replace Estrada on the active roster.
