  • Marlins' Jared Serna: Cracks two doubles Tuesday

Serna went 2-for-3 with two doubles, an RBI and a run scored during Tuesday's 7-5 loss to the Mets. Sean Manaea kept the Marlins hitless and scoreless through five innings, but Serna helped turn things around in the sixth with an RBI double in the sixth inning. He added another double in the seventh for the first multi-hit game of his major-league career, and he's 3-for-8 with two RBI and two runs scored since making his big-league debut Sept. 1. Serna will continue to see playing time for as long as Xavier Edwards (thumb) is on the IL.

  • Marlins' Jared Serna: Receives first MLB call-up

The Marlins recalled Serna from Triple-A Jacksonville on Monday. The 24-year-old Serna will hit the big leagues for the first time and will provide the Marlins with some added depth in the middle infield after second baseman Xavier Edwards (thumb) was placed on the injured list. Over 337 plate appearances with Jacksonville on the season, Serna slashed .218/.300/.364 with 11 home runs and 14 stolen bases.

  • Marlins' Jared Serna: Sent to Triple-A

The Marlins optioned Serna to Triple-A Jacksonville on Sunday. The 23-year-old played in four Grapefruit League games and went 3-for-11 with a double and a home run, but he'll now make his way to minor-league camp. Serna had a .578 OPS in 101 games with Double-A Pensacola in 2025 before joining Jacksonville for a cup of coffee late in the season. He'll need to improve at the plate to have a chance of making his MLB debut anytime soon.

  • Marlins' Jared Serna: Optioned to Pensacola

The Marlins optioned Serna to Double-A Pensacola on Saturday, Daniel Alvarez-Montes of ElExtraBase.com reports. Serna appeared in six games at Triple-A Jacksonville at the end of last season, but the Marlins will send him back to Double-A to begin the 2025 campaign. The 22-year-old infielder went 4-for-7 with a home run, three runs scored and a stolen base in the Grapefruit League, and he may not have to wait long to return to Triple-A if his hot bat follows him to Pensacola.

  • Marlins' Jared Serna: Protected from Rule 5 Draft

The Marlins selected Serna's contract from Triple-A Jacksonville on Tuesday, Christina De Nicola of MLB.com reports. Serna was dealt from the Yankees to the Marlins in the Jazz Chisholm trade and has now joined Miami's 40-man roster. The 22-year-old began the 2024 season at the Low-A level before finishing it at Jacksonville, slashing .251/.337/.414 with 15 homers and 15 steals over three stops. He mostly played shortstop last season but can also handle second and third base.
