  • Jose Altuve 2B | HOU

Astros' Jose Altuve: Placed on injured list

Altuve (knee) was placed on the 10-day injured list, retroactive to Friday, Chandler Rome of the Houston Chronicle reports.

Altuve underwent an MRI on Friday that revealed a right knee sprain, and he had already been ruled out for the Astros' weekend series. However, he'll now miss additional time so he can fully recover. Aledmys Diaz should serve as the primary second baseman while Altuve heals.

  • Elvis Andrus 2B | ARI

Rangers' Elvis Andrus: Not in lineup Saturday

Andrus isn't starting Saturday against the Mariners.

Andrus has gone just 2-for-13 with one home run, two RBI and two strikeouts in four games since returning from the injured list. He'll get a breather with Anderson Tejeda starting at shortstop.

  • Amed Rosario 3B | NYY

Mets' Amed Rosario: On bench again Saturday

Rosario will sit again Friday against the Phillies.

Andres Gimenez starts at shortstop for the second game in a row. Rosario owns a poor .592 OPS on the season, though it's not as if Gimenez's .696 OPS is particularly good, either, so it doesn't appear as though Rosario is at risk of seeing his playing time collapse completely.

  • Sam Haggerty LF | TEX

Mariners' Sam Haggerty: Not starting Saturday

Haggerty isn't in Saturday's lineup against the Rangers.

Haggerty will take a breather Saturday after going hitless with one walk and two strikeouts Friday. Dylan Moore will shift to left field with Phillip Ervin starting in right.

  • Luis Arraez 2B | PHI

Twins' Luis Arraez: Still out Saturday

Arraez (kneecap) isn't in Saturday's lineup against the Tigers.

Arraez sat out both games of Friday's doubleheader, and he'll remain on the bench with left patellar soreness Saturday. Marwin Gonzalez will take over at second base.

  • Nico Hoerner 2B | CHC

Cubs' Nico Hoerner: Starting first game

Hoerner is starting at second base and batting ninth in the first game of Saturday's doubleheader against the Cardinals.

Jason Kipnis is on the bench for the first game Saturday, opening up the keystone for Hoerner. Kipnis has been scuffling a bit lately, so Hoerner could earn more regular playing time if he gets hot at the plate. So far this season, the 23-year-old is slashing .230/.322/.257 in 31 games.

  • Cavan Biggio RF | HOU

Blue Jays' Cavan Biggio: Not starting Saturday

Biggio isn't in Saturday's lineup against the Red Sox.

Biggio will get a day off following Friday's doubleheader, in which he went 2-for-8 with a run and three strikeouts. Joe Panik will start at second base in his absence.

  • Nicky Lopez 2B | TEX

Royals' Nicky Lopez: Not starting Saturday

Lopez isn't starting Saturday against the White Sox, Alec Lewis of The Athletic reports.

Lopez recorded hits in each of the past two games, but he'll get a breather Saturday. Whit Merrifield will shift to second base with Bubba Starling starting in center field.

  • Marcus Semien 2B | NYM

Athletics' Marcus Semien: Remains out Saturday

Semien (side) isn't in Saturday's lineup against the Padres.

Semien will sit for a second consecutive game, but he has been swinging the bat and feeling better recently. Vimael Machin will take over at shortstop Saturday.

  • Gleyber Torres 2B | DET

    Yankees' Gleyber Torres: Officially reinstated

Torres (hamstring) was reinstated from the 10-day injured list Saturday.

Torres beat his return timetable by a large margin, and he'll be available for the injury-riddled Yankees on Saturday. The 23-year-old should resume his role as the team's primary shortstop going forward, but it's possible that the Yankees could monitor his workload early on to prevent further injury.
