Rodgers (hamstring) took at-bats against rehabbing Rockies starter Kyle Freeland (shoulder) in a simulated game Tuesday, Thomas Harding of MLB.com reports.

Rodgers was reportedly running the bases after getting a hit in the sim game -- a sign that the 24-year-old may be nearly recovered from the right hamstring strain he suffered in mid-March. With the minor-league season beginning Tuesday, Rodgers will likely report to Triple-A Albuquerque in the near future to complete a rehab assignment. Once the hamstring injury is in the rearview mirror, Rodgers could be a candidate to fill an everyday role in the Colorado infield alongside shortstop Trevor Story.

The White Sox recalled Mendick from Triple-A Charlotte on Tuesday.

He'll assume the active roster spot of outfielder Luis Robert (hip), who was placed on the 10-day injured list in a corresponding move. Leury Garcia is expected to serve as the primary replacement for Robert in center field for at least the short term, which should allow Mendick to operate as Chicago's main utility infielder.

Hoerner (forearm) said he expects to return from the 10-day injured list ahead of the Cubs' upcoming road series in Detroit, which begins May 14, Tim Stebbins of NBC Sports Chicago reports.

Hoerner was one of three Cubs players placed on the IL ahead of Tuesday's doubleheader with the Dodgers, but manager David Ross suggested that each of the trio will likely be in store for an abbreviated stay on the shelf. Assuming Hoerner's prediction comes to pass and he's ready to go by the middle of the month, he should be able to settle back in as the Cubs' everyday second baseman. Before suffering the left forearm strain Sunday, Hoerner appeared to have solidified a regular role by batting .389 with an 8:7 BB:K and three stolen bases in his first 11 games with the Cubs.

Forsythe signed a minor-league contract with the Brewers on Tuesday and was assigned to Triple-A Nashville, Will Sammon of The Athletic reports.

Forsythe will serve as organizational depth for a Brewers team that has seen far more than its fair share of injuries so far this season. The 34-year-old has some good seasons on his resume, but he hasn't produced a wRC+ higher than 75 since 2017.

The Cubs placed Hoerner on the 10-day injured list Tuesday with a left forearm strain, Maddie Lee of NBC Sports Chicago reports.

Hoerner was one of three Cubs placed on the IL ahead of Tuesday's doubleheader with the Dodgers. Though Hoerner wasn't forced to exit Sunday's loss to the Reds after colliding with teammate Ian Happ, the Cubs apparently sent him for follow-up tests that revealed the forearm injury. Given that the injury is to his non-throwing arm, Hoerner will likely face a shorter recovery timeline than what might normally be associated with a forearm strain. Since his late-April call-up, Hoerner appeared to have seized hold of an everyday role in the infield by slashing .389/.500/.556 with three stolen bases over his first 11 games. Hoerner's move to the IL likely reopens regular duties at the keystone for David Bote.

Merrifield went 1-for-4 with a walk and a two-run home run in Monday's 8-6 loss to Cleveland.

He took Aaron Civale deep in the fourth inning, giving the Royals a short-lived 3-1 lead, Merrifield snapped a 22-game homerless drought with the blast, and on the season he's hitting .269 with four home runs, eight steals, 18 runs and 21 RBI through 27 contests.

Polanco went 2-for-3 with a double, a triple, two RBI, a walk and a run scored Monday against the Rangers.

Polanco drove in a run in the sixth on a triple to center, and he added an important insurance run in the eighth by doubling home another. Following his multi-hit performance, the 27-year-old is slashing .223/.286/.330 with one home run, 12 RBI and two stolen bases through 25 games.

Arraez left Monday's game against the Rangers due to concussion-like symptoms, Do-Hyoung Park of MLB.com reports.

Arraez was involved in a play at the plate and left the contest shortly after. It's unclear at this point whether he'll need a trip to the 7-day concussion injured list.

Gimenez isn't starting Monday's game against the Royals.

Gimenez had gone 0-for-7 with two strikeouts across the last two games. Amed Rosario will shift to shortstop while Harold Ramirez starts in center field.

Hoerner is not in the lineup for Monday's game against the Dodgers.

Hoerner collided with teammate Ian Happ in Sunday's game against the Reds, though only Happ was forced to leave the game. Both players will be on the bench Monday, with David Bote starting at second base.
