Manager David Ross said Thursday that Hoerner (oblique) has been participating in baseball activities recently, Meghan Montemurro of the Chicago Tribune reports.

Hoerner was removed from his first rehab game in late July since he was experiencing tension in his right oblique, but he's now resumed activities. The 24-year-old participated in infield work and hit in the cage Thursday, and Ross is hopeful the middle infielder will be able to increase his workload in the near future.

Albies (knee) is expected to start Thursday's game against the Rockies, David O'Brien of The Athletic reports.

Albies missed Wednesday's game due to a left knee injury and was initially expected to sit out Thursday, but he participated in pregame drills ahead of Thursday's series opener in Colorado. The 24-year-old has recorded hits in six of his last seven games and has hit .321 with a home run, two doubles, four runs, two RBI and a stolen base during that time.

Gimenez is not in the lineup Thursday against the Royals.

Gimenez has a .565 OPS in 17 games since being promoted in early August and will head to the bench for the second time in the past three days. Owen Miller will man the keystone Thursday for Cleveland.

Motter was claimed off waivers by the Red Sox on Thursday.

Motter was cast off the Rockies' 40-man roster Monday after he hit .150 across 13 major-league appearances this year. It wouldn't be surprising to see him join the big-league roster at some point if the Red Sox deal with additional absences in the midst of their current COVID-19 outbreak.

Dubon was recalled from Triple-A Sacramento on Thursday.

Dubon has been with the minor-league club since late June, and he slashed .333/.415/.463 with three homers, 29 runs, 22 RBI and nine stolen bases across 46 games at Triple-A Sacramento. However, he'll rejoin the Giants as a utility man after Wilmer Flores (hamstring) was placed on the 10-day injured list Thursday.

Marte went 3-for-5 with two runs scored in Wednesday's 8-3 win over the Padres.

All three of Marte's hits went for singles. He began a six-run third inning with a base hit to left and came around to score from first off a double from Pavin Smith. The 27-year-old later led off the eighth with another base knock and eventually came home on a bases-loaded walk. Marte has logged a hit in 12 of his last 13 games and 18 of his last 21. He has been one of baseball's more productive hitters when healthy but has missed a bunch of time in 2021 with multiple injuries. He now stands at a .344/.395/.549 slash line with 31 extra-base hits, 38 RBI, 38 runs scored, a steal and 19:42 BB:K over 266 plate appearances.

Semien went 1-for-3 with a solo home run, a walk and a stolen base in Wednesday's 5-4 win over Baltimore.

The 30-year-old provided a little bit of everything at the plate Wednesday, quickly opening the scoring with his first-inning solo shot. Semien has matched his career high in homers with 33. The infielder has added a sturdy .267/.334/.527 slash line with 78 RBI, 93 runs scored and 14 stolen bases in 15 attempts through 132 games this year. He's hit a small slump lately, going just 4-for-19 (.211) in his last five contests.

Castro went 3-for-4 with a double, a home run, two runs scored and two RBI in Wednesday's win over the Athletics.

Castro may not have a regular, everyday position with the Tigers, but the 27-year-old continues to hit when given a chance. He batted .300 in 2018, albeit in just six games, then followed that up by hitting .291 in 2019 and .347 during the condensed 2020 slate. This season, Castro is now batting .281 after the three-hit effort. He doesn't offer a ton of extra-base power and profiles as more of a singles hitter, but he's capable of good stat lines when he strings a few hits together.

Chavis (elbow) will be shut down from gripping and throwing activities for the next 5-to-7 days, Kevin Gorman of TribLive.com reports.

The 26-year-old was placed on the injured list with the right elbow injury Tuesday, and he'll be shut down from most activities for about a week. Chavis should have enough time to rejoin the Pirates before the end of the season, but he likely won't be activated until the second half of September.

Rodgers went 2-for-4 with a walk, a double, a home run, two runs scored and three RBI in Wednesday's 9-5 win over the Rangers.

His solo shot in the fourth inning off Kohei Arihara got the Rockies on the board and gave Rodgers his 11th homer of the year. Rodgers is coming off a solid August in which he slashed .295/.326/.420 through 92 plate appearances, but one day into September, he's already matched his home run total from the month before.
