Brett Wisely 2B | ATL
Giants' Brett Wisely: Retreating to bench
Wisely is out of the lineup for Monday's game against the Diamondbacks.
Wisely went 3-for-12 with a double, three walks and two RBI while starting each of the Giants' last four games at second base, but he'll hit the bench in Monday's series opener. Though Casey Schmitt (wrist) joined Matt Chapman (hand) on the injured list Monday to open up an everyday role at third base for Christian Koss, Wisely's playing time at the keystone could be threatened by the arrival of Tyler Fitzgerald, who was recalled from Triple-A Sacramento. Fitzgerald will get the start at second base Monday and will bat seventh.

Tyler Fitzgerald CF | SF
Giants' Tyler Fitzgerald: Officially called up
Fitzgerald was called up from Triple-A Sacramento prior to Monday's series opener with the Diamondbacks, John Shea of the San Francisco Chronicle reports.
Fitzgerald will officially return to the major-league roster after being sent down June 23. The 27-year-old will look to improve upon the .230/.289/.320 slash line he posted over 178 at-bats in 57 games with the Giants so far this season. Fitzgerald will replace Casey Schmitt (wrist) with the big-league club after Schmitt was placed on the 10-day injured list Monday.

Scott Kingery 2B | LAA
Angels' Scott Kingery: Sent down to Triple-A
The Angels optioned Kingery to Triple-A Salt Lake City on Monday, Jeff Fletcher of The Orange County Register reports.
Kingery's contract was selected June 11, but the utility player will return to Triple-A after going 2-for-9 (.222) with a stolen base and four strikeouts during his stint with the Halos. A corresponding move has yet to be announced.

Shay Whitcomb SS | HOU
Astros' Shay Whitcomb: Call-up looming
The Astros are expected to recall Whitcomb from Triple-A Sugar Land on Tuesday, Ari Alexander of KPRC 2 Houston reports.
Whitcomb is slated to fill Jeremy Pena's (rib) spot on the 26-man roster after Pena was placed on the 10-day injured list Monday. Though he's gone hitless in nine at-bats with the Astros this season, Whitcomb owns a .942 OPS with 19 home runs in 264 plate appearances with Sugar Land. He's played every position except catcher, pitcher and center field this season, but Whitcomb's clearest path to playing time will likely come at shortstop, designated hitter or left field.

Tyler Fitzgerald CF | SF
Giants' Tyler Fitzgerald: Joins team in Arizona
Fitzgerald could be recalled from Triple-A Sacramento prior to Monday's contest in Arizona, Alex Pavlovic of NBC Sports Bay Area reports.
Fitzgerald has a locker at Chase Field and appears set to take the roster spot of the injured Casey Schmitt (wrist). The 27-year-old has slashed just .230/.289/.320 for the Giants this season and has gone 4-for-13 at the plate since being demoted to Sacramento. Fitzgerald could see reps at second base for the Giants upon his recall.

Zack Gelof 2B | ATH
Athletics' Zack Gelof: Ramping up rehab workload
Athletics manager Mark Kotsay said Monday that Gelof (ribs) is slated to play full nine-inning games on consecutive days this week during his rehab assignment at Triple-A Las Vegas, Martin Gallegos of MLB.com reports.
Gelof landed on the injured list prior to Opening Day after fracturing a hamate bone in his right wrist late in spring training and requiring surgery, but a stress reaction in his ribs suffered in early May has extended his absence. Once Gelof shows he can play full games on consecutive days, the Athletics will evaluate him for a potential return to the roster.

Jose Iglesias 2B | SD
Padres' Jose Iglesias: Heading to bench Monday
Iglesias is out of the lineup for Monday's game against the Phillies.
With starts in five of the previous six games, Iglesias has gained some stability in the San Diego lineup of late, but he's still not quite locked in as an everyday player. After posting a surprising .829 OPS with the Mets in 2024 -- his highest mark in any season of his career aside from the pandemic-shortened 2020 campaign -- Iglesias has taken a big step back at the plate with San Diego this season, slashing just .226/.294/.258 with no home runs over 179 plate appearances. He'll need to improve his production to boost his case for earning steady playing time over the balance of the season.

Adam Frazier 2B | KC
Pirates' Adam Frazier: Idle against righty
Frazier is out of the lineup for Monday's game against the Cardinals.
The left-handed-hitting Frazier had batted out of the leadoff spot in both of the Pirates' previous two matchups with righties, but he'll be left out of the lineup entirely Monday while St. Louis sends right-hander Erick Fedde to the hill. Tommy Pham will take over Frazier's spot in left field, while Spencer Horwitz tops the batting order for Pittsburgh.

Andres Gimenez 2B | TOR
Blue Jays' Andres Gimenez: Sitting versus southpaw
Gimenez is not in the lineup for Monday's game versus the Yankees.
The left-handed-hitting Gimenez had started each of the previous 13 contests, but he'll get a breather as the Yankees send southpaw Carlos Rodon to the hill. Fellow left-handed swinger Will Wagner will fill in at second base and bat ninth.
