  • Kyle Farmer 2B | COL

Rockies' Kyle Farmer: Serving as DH on Sunday

Farmer will start at designated hitter and bat sixth Sunday against the White Sox.

Farmer has been getting most of his starts against left-handed pitching lately, but he'll crack the lineup Sunday with righty Shane Smith on the hill. Since the start of June, Farmer has batted .178 with one home run and a 1:13 BB:K over a stretch of 16 games.

  • Chris Taylor RF | LAA

Angels' Chris Taylor: Resumes baseball activities

Taylor (hand) recently had his brace removed and has begun participating in "light baseball activities," per MLB.com.

Taylor suffered a fractured left hand when he was hit by a pitch during a game in early June. The utility man seems unlikely to be ready to return until after the All-Star break, though the Angels haven't specified a timeline for his activation. Taylor will likely serve in a part-time role when he's ready to play again.

  • Orioles' Jackson Holliday: Leads offense in win

Holliday went 4-for-4 with a double and a two-run homer in Sunday's 2-1 win over Atlanta.

Holliday was the lone Oriole with more than one hit in the game, and his biggest was a two-run blast off Grant Holmes in the third inning that proved to be the difference in a one-run victory. It's the second career four-hit game for Holliday, who had gone just 3-for-25 (.120) in his prior six contests coming into Sunday. Overall, the 21-year-old second baseman is slashing .260/.309/.415 with 11 homers, 36 RBI, 35 runs scored and nine stolen bases across 346 plate appearances.

  • Guardians' Daniel Schneemann: Getting afternoon off

Schneemann is out of the lineup for Sunday's game against the Tigers.

With Tarik Skubal on the hill for Detroit, Schneemann will head to the bench after starting in each of the last three games. Will Wilson will replace Schneemann at second base and bat seventh.

  • Will Wilson 2B | CLE

Guardians' Will Wilson: Called up, starting Sunday

The Guardians recalled Wilson from Triple-A Columbus on Sunday, and he'll start at second base and bat seventh against the Tigers.

Wilson will be up with the big club for the second time this season, taking the roster spot of Lane Thomas (foot). Wilson could be limited to a short-side platoon role during his latest stint in the majors, but he gets one of the toughest such assignments possible Sunday against Tarik Skubal.

  • Gleyber Torres 2B | DET

Tigers' Gleyber Torres: Limited to bench role Sunday

Torres (neck) is out of the lineup for Sunday's game against the Guardians.

Torres was removed after the top of the first inning of Saturday's 1-0 win following a collision as he slid into second base, but he sustained nothing more than a bruise. According to Chris McCosky of The Detroit News, Torres acknowledged that he experienced some soreness after the game but felt better upon reporting to the ballpark Sunday. The Tigers are keeping him out of the lineup as a precaution, but he should be available to pinch hit in the series finale.

  • Jazz Chisholm CF | NYY

Yankees' Jazz Chisholm: Battling shoulder issue

Chisholm, who is out of the lineup Sunday against the Mets, said he's been dealing with a shoulder injury for about three weeks, Bryan Hoch of MLB.com reports.

The 27-year-old indicated that the injury is more bothersome when throwing than hitting, and he'll get a couple days to rest thanks to Monday's team off day. The injury can help explain Chisholm's especially poor defense of late, as he's committed five errors in the past 10 games. Oswald Peraza will fill in at the hot corner Sunday for the Yankees.

  • Chad Stevens 2B | LAA

Angels' Chad Stevens: Drawing fourth straight start

Stevens will start at third base and bat ninth in Sunday's game against the Blue Jays, Rhett Bollinger of MLB.com reports.

Since calling Stevens up from Triple-A Salt Lake on Thursday, the Angels have been giving the 26-year-old regular playing time in the infield while Christian Moore (thumb), Yoan Moncada (knee) and Chris Taylor (hand) are all on the shelf. Stevens will pick up his fourth straight start Sunday after going 1-for-8 with four strikeouts through his first three big-league games. He'll likely see his opportunities dwindle once the Angels' infield gets healthy.

  • Andres Gimenez 2B | TOR

Blue Jays' Andres Gimenez: Out with ankle sprain

The Blue Jays placed Gimenez on the 10-day injured list Sunday due to a left ankle sprain.

The second baseman initially suffered the ankle injury Wednesday and was sent for an MRI after aggravating the injury in Friday's 4-3 win over the Angels. The severity of the sprain has yet to be disclosed, but Gimenez will be sidelined through the All-Star break, at a minimum. Joey Loperfido was called up from Triple-A Buffalo to fill the open spot on the 26-man roster, but Davis Schneider, Will Wagner and/or Leo Jimenez could be the main beneficiaries from a playing-time standpoint while Gimenez sidelined.

  • Luis Garcia 2B | WAS

Nationals' Luis Garcia: Idle against southpaw

Garcia is out of the lineup for Sunday's game against the Red Sox.

The Red Sox are sending Garrett Crochet to the hill, so Garcia will retreat to the bench after starting the first two games of the series. Amed Rosario will replace Garcia at second base.
