Hernandez will get the start in left field Tuesday and is batting leadoff against the Diamondbacks, Eric Stephen of SB Nation reports.

The Dodgers are already without Scott Van Slyke and Carl Crawford due to back injuries, so Hernandez will get the start in left Tuesday to help add another right-handed bat to the lineup against lefty Patrick Corbin. Hernandez has gone 4-for-12 to start the year and should see semi-regular playing time with Van Slyke and Crawford sidelined, but Van Slyke's expected return in the coming days could render Hernandez useful only in daily formats this week.

Solarte (hamstring) was placed on the 15-day disabled list Sunday, Jeff Sanders of the San Diego Union-Tribune reports.

Solarte suffered a strained right hamstring in Saturday's contest, and that ailment will ultimately require a DL stint. Being this early in the season, the Padres don't appear to be taking any chances with their regular third baseman. Tomlinson will place Joe Panik to make his first start of the season Saturday. Despite having a perceived platoon edge as a right-handed hitter, Tomlinson is 0-for-6 with three strikeouts and a walk lifetime against Kershaw.

With that, Hernandez will take Chase Utley's spot at the top of the order. Hernandez, though in a small sample size, is one of the few players in the majors to have success against Bumgarner, having gone 5-for-10 with a home run off him.

Solarte was 3-for-5 with a walk and four RBI as San Diego drubbed the Rockies on Friday evening.

The Padres offense will likely be hit and miss most of the season - they had been held scoreless for 30 innings prior to this outburst in Coors Field - but Solarte could enjoy relative productivity hitting every day in the middle of their order. He typically hits fifth behind Matt Kemp and Wil Myers so there should be a few RBI opportunities.
