  • Giants' Kelby Tomlinson: Could see uptick in playing time

Tomlinson started at second base in place of the injured Joe Panik (concussion) Monday, going 1-for-3 with a walk and a run scored in an 8-3 loss to Miami.

Panik passed concussion tests after taking a blow to the head on a play at home plate Sunday, but the sinking Giants may opt to place him on the 7-day DL after he missed nearly a third of last season with concussion symptoms, Andrew Baggarly of The San Jose Mercury News reports. If that plan holds true, Tomlinson would likely fall into regular playing time at the keystone. The 27-year-old has struggled at the plate in a utility role this season (.239/.318/.283), but his excellent 8.8 speed score and success on the basepaths (6-for-6) would make him a cheap short-term target for steals in deeper formats if he were to gain an everyday role.

  • Logan Forsythe 2B | LAD

Dodgers' Logan Forsythe: Positioned on bench Sunday

Forsythe is not in the lineup for Sunday's game against the Padres, J.P. Hoornstra of the Los Angeles Daily News reports.

Forsythe's subpar season churns on, as the veteran second baseman is hitting just .231 during the month of August and has lowered his season average to .236. He'll get the day off with Chase Utley manning the keystone and batting fifth in his absence.

  • Adam Frazier 2B | LAA

Pirates' Adam Frazier: Starts fifth straight game

Frazier will start in left field and bat ninth Sunday against the Blue Jays, Adam Berry of MLB.com reports.

It will be the fifth consecutive start for Frazier, who will find a way into the lineup as a result of Gregory Polanco (hamstring) sitting out. The Pirates will reevaluate Polanco on Tuesday before determining if he'll require a trip to the disabled list, potentially putting Frazier on tap for an expanded role during the upcoming week. Frazier has sported a hot bat so far in August, batting .324 with six RBI and three runs in 10 games.

  • Amed Rosario 3B | NYY

Mets' Amed Rosario: Heads to bench Sunday

Rosario is not in the lineup for Sunday's game against the Phillies.

Rosario has collected four hits in his last two starts but will give way to Jose Reyes at shortstop. Manager Terry Collins recently announced that the Mets' top prospect will continue to receive regular days of rest moving forward in order to keep him fresh during long season.

  • Padres' Yangervis Solarte: Returns to lineup Saturday

Solarte is back in the lineup, batting sixth against Hyun-Jin Ryu and the Dodgers.

Solarte hit the bench against a left-hander Friday, but he'll return Saturday despite Ryu being a lefty. In a limited sample, Solarte has had success against Ryu with three hits -- including a pair of doubles -- in six at-bats.

  • Ozzie Albies 2B | ATL

Braves' Ozzie Albies: Swats second home run Friday

Albies went 2-for-4 with a three-run homer in Friday's loss to the Cardinals.

The 5-foot-8 dynamo has shown some surprising power this season, hitting nine homers in 97 games for Triple-A Gwinnett and now popping two in his first nine games with Atlanta. Albies' primary assets were expected to be his contact ability and speed, but like Jose Altuve -- another undersized but athletic player with tremendous makeup -- the 20-year-old could eventually turn out to be a contributor in all five primary fantasy categories.

  • Amed Rosario 3B | NYY

Mets' Amed Rosario: Smashes first big-league homer Friday

Rosario went 3-for-4 with a solo homer and three runs scored in Friday's win over the Phillies.

The home run was his first in the big leagues, after the 21-year-old hit seven in 94 games for Triple-A Las Vegas this year. Power isn't yet a big part of Rosario's arsenal, but as he matures and fills out, his ability to barrel the ball should result in at least double-digit homers on a consistent basis, making him a potential five-category fantasy asset down the road.

  • Padres' Yangervis Solarte: Out against lefty Friday

Solarte is not in the lineup for Friday's game against the Dodgers, Bill Center of MLB.com reports.

Manager Andy Green said he's sitting the 30-year-old against a lefty starter (Rich Hill) in an effort to protect against any sort of setback with Solarte's left oblique. Solarte just returned to action on July 30 after spending well over a month on the DL with an oblique strain.

  • Logan Forsythe 2B | LAD

Dodgers' Logan Forsythe: Records second stolen base Thursday

Forsythe went 1-for-4 with a walk, a stolen base and a run scored in Thursday's 8-6 win over the Diamondbacks.

The veteran second baseman has been an on-base machine since the calendar flipped to August, drawing eight free passes in seven starts this month. While Forsythe is walking a career-best 16.6 percent of the time, he is also striking out at a career-worst 26.8 percent rate, leading to a .240 batting average that is not being negatively affected by his BABIP (.337). It's crazy to think that the Dodgers would bench Forsythe when Adrian Gonzalez (back) returns from the disabled list in September, but he has clearly been the weak link in an explosive offense. The club hasn't hinted at this possibility, but it would be the most logical configuration to get Gonzalez back into the lineup with Cody Bellinger moving to left field and Chris Taylor manning the keystone. Gonzalez isn't expect to return until the beginning of September, so Forsythe has a few weeks to turn things around at the plate -- otherwise he may find himself on the short side of a platoon at second.

  • Ketel Marte 2B | ARI

Diamondbacks' Ketel Marte: Extends hitting streak to 10

Marte went 2-for-3 with a walk, a run and two RBI in Thursday's 8-6 loss to the Dodgers.

Marte's damage came too little too late, as his two-run single in the eighth inning cut the deficit to two runs but his team would get no closer. Arizona's everyday shortstop in the absence of Chris Owings (finger) has put any doubts about his ability to do the job to rest, as he has three multi-hit efforts in the past four games and is now riding a 10-game hitting streak to boot.
