Brewers' Nick Franklin: Dealing with illness

Franklin, who landed on the 10-day disabled list May 9 with a right quadriceps strain, is also battling an illness, Adam McCalvy of MLB.com reports.

According to Tom Haudricourt of the Milwaukee Journal Sentinel, Franklin is expected to be sidelined for around two weeks due to the quad injury, so he'll likely be over the illness by that point. Following Franklin's placement on the DL, the Brewers added Tyler Saladino to the active roster to serve as a utility man. Should Saladino impress in that role over the next couple weeks, he could stick with Milwaukee over Franklin once the latter is activated.

  • Ketel Marte 2B | ARI

Diamondbacks' Ketel Marte: Scores twice Sunday

Marte went 2-for-4 with a double and a pair of runs Sunday in the Diamondbacks' 6-4 loss to the Nationals.

Marte is in the midst of a five-game hitting streak, but he has a long way to go before his season batting line returns to a respectable level. Through 157 plate appearances, Marte is slashing .228/.287/.324, with the average, on-base percentage and slugging percentage all representing the worst marks of his career. Marte could be at risk of losing playing time at the keystone to utility men Daniel Descalso or Chris Owings once Jake Lamb (shoulder, elbow) is activated from the 10-day disabled list and reinstalled as the Diamondbacks' primary third baseman.

  • Logan Forsythe 2B | LAD

Dodgers' Logan Forsythe: To return Tuesday

Forsythe (shoulder) is expected to be activated from the disabled list Tuesday, Fabian Ardaya of The Athletic Los Angeles reports.

Forsythe will have officially missed a month of action when he's activated. The Dodgers also plan to activate third baseman Justin Turner (wrist) from the DL as well, so their additions to the lineup should help the team dig themselves out of the hole they find themselves in following a frustratingly slow start to the season. Forsythe's return will cut into Chase Utley's playing time.

  • Adam Frazier 2B | LAA

Pirates' Adam Frazier: Receives Sunday off

Frazier is not in the lineup Sunday against the Giants, Adam Berry of MLB.com reports.

Frazier has gone hitless in his last 10 at-bats, bringing his season average down to a very pedestrian .235 mark. He'll be afforded the afternoon off with Sean Rodriguez taking over at the keystone. Frazier could lose his starting gig in the next couple of weeks when Josh Harrison (hand) returns from the disabled list.

  • Ozzie Albies 2B | ATL

Braves' Ozzie Albies: Hits 12th home run Friday

Albies went 1-for-4 with a home run, two runs, a stolen base and a walk in Friday's loss to the Marlins.

Albies has now recorded a hit in 14 of his last 15 games, bringing his slash line to .284/.322/.599. His 12 home runs and 37 runs lead all MLB second basemen, and his 30 RBI are good for second at the position. His on-base percentage is negatively impacted by a poor 8:33 BB:K, but otherwise he's proving to be a consistently productive force for a good-hitting Braves lineup.

  • Adam Frazier 2B | LAA

Pirates' Adam Frazier: Stationed on bench Friday

Frazier is out of the lineup against San Francisco on Friday.

After a pair of hitless outings, Frazier will head to the bench in favor of Max Moroff at second base with left-hander Andrew Suarez on the mound. Over 34 games this season, Frazier is hitting .242/.292/.323 with two home runs and five RBI. Expect to see him back in the lineup Saturday.

  • Ketel Marte 2B | ARI

Diamondbacks' Ketel Marte: Reaches base twice Thursday

Marte went 1-for-3 with a walk and scored the Diamondbacks' only run in the club's 2-1 loss to the Nationals in 11 innings Thursday.

Marte has recorded three base hits in his past two games following an 0-for-11 stretch in the three contests prior to that, but the second baseman is still slashing a meager .216/.281/.299 across 146 plate appearances. With his OPS down 160 points from a season ago, Marte has been a major disappointment thus far and could end up ceding starts at second base to Daniel Descalso once Jake Lamb (shoulder, elbow) is activated from the 10-day disabled list later this month.

  • Ozzie Albies 2B | ATL

Braves' Ozzie Albies: Drives in five

Albies went 2-for-6 with a grand slam and five RBI on Thursday against the Marlins.

Albies blew open a previously tied game in the sixth inning with his grand slam, his 11th home run of the season. He has now recorded at least one hit in nine of his past 10 games including four multi-hit games, three home runs and two stolen bases. He ranks among National League leaders in home runs, RBI and runs scored.

  • Logan Forsythe 2B | LAD

Dodgers' Logan Forsythe: Starting rehab assignment over weekend

Forsythe (shoulder) will begin a rehab assignment over the weekend, Ken Gurnick of MLB.com reports.

Both Forsythe and Justin Turner (wrist) are ready to start rehab assignments over the weekend, which means the infield is close to being back to full strength minus Corey Seager. Forsythe's impending return will lessen the need for Chase Utley to see regular playing time at second base. That said, Forsythe's nearly month-long absence means that he'll likely need a few rehab games before being activated.

  • Dodgers' Enrique Hernandez: Heads to bench Thursday

Hernandez is out of the lineup Thursday against the Reds, Ken Gurnick of MLB.com reports.

Hernandez will head to the bench for the second time in three games with a right-hander (Tyler Mahle) toeing the rubber for the opposition. Left-handed hitting Joc Pederson will once again start in center field in his stead, suggesting the two could ultimately settle into a platoon.
