    Pirates' Jake Elmore: Clears waivers

Elmore cleared waivers and was outrighted to Triple-A Indianapolis on Wednesday.

Elmore went 1-for-20 during his brief stay in Pittsburgh. He'll remain as organizational depth but does not appear to be close to a return to the big leagues.

  • Adam Frazier 2B | LAA

Pirates' Adam Frazier: Drops in order

Frazier is starting at second base and hitting eighth Thursday against the Brewers.

Frazier has primarily hit leadoff this season, but a slow start at the plate (.250 average and .655 OPS through 48 games) has prompted the Pirates to give 25-year-old Kevin Newman -- who is hitting .347 through 28 games this season -- a turn atop the order.

  • Rockies' Brendan Rodgers: Benched for second time in series

Rodgers is out of the lineup for Thursday's game against the Diamondbacks, Patrick Saunders of The Denver Post reports.

The rookie will head to the bench for the second time in the series and for the third time in six games. Though he appears to rank ahead of Ryan McMahon in the pecking order at second base, the Rockies' reluctance to commit to Rodgers in a full-time role is undoubtedly annoying for fantasy managers who scooped him up off the waiver wire. It's especially frustrating given that Rodgers has gotten off to a 10-for-32 (.313 average) start to his MLB career.

  • Amed Rosario 3B | NYY

Mets' Amed Rosario: Homers in loss

Rosario went 1-for-4 with a solo home run and a walk in Wednesday's loss at Dodger Stadium.

Rosario launched a leadoff homer off Julio Urias in the seventh inning to put the Mets ahead 7-3, but a ninth-inning rally surged the Dodgers ahead for good. The 23-year-old has had somewhat of a quiet season, batting .262/.309/.432 with six home runs, 29 RBI and 21 runs scored.

  • Jeff McNeil 2B | ATH

Mets' Jeff McNeil: Running at 70 percent

McNeil (hamstring) is running at 70 percent and participating in baseball activities, Mike Puma of the New York Post reports.

McNeil landed on the injured list last week with the left hamstring strain, so his relatively quick return to baseball activities is good news regarding the severity of the injury. It's not fully clear what activities he's been participating in, so it's difficult to pinpoint where he's currently at in his progression.

  • Dodgers' Enrique Hernandez: Heads to bench

Hernandez is not in the lineup Wednesday against the Mets, J.P. Hoornstra of the Los Angeles Daily News reports.

Hernandez is hitting just .162/.241/.257 with a pair of homers and a 26.5 percent strikeout rate through 21 games this month, so he'll take a seat for the third time in five games. Max Muncy is starting at second base in this one, with Matt Beaty covering first base.

  • Ketel Marte 2B | ARI

Diamondbacks' Ketel Marte: Situated on bench

Marte is not in the lineup Wednesday against the Rockies.

Marte will retreat to the bench for what appears to be a routine day off following a string of 17 straight starts during which he hit .307/.338/.533 with three homers and 10 RBI. In his place, Ildemaro Vargas is starting at second base and hitting second Wednesday.

  • Amed Rosario 3B | NYY

Mets' Amed Rosario: Sets table in win

Rosario went 2-for-3 with a walk, a triple, a run scored, an RBI and a stolen base in Tuesday's win over the Dodgers.

The 23-year-old did a little bit of everything from the top of the order for the Mets. Rosario now has three multi-hit performances in his last five games, going 7-for-22 (.318) over that stretch with three doubles, a triple and a homer to boost his overall slash line to .262/.307/.421. The steal was also his fifth of the season but first since May 3. He took awhile to get rolling in that category in 2018 as well -- Rosario swiped 18 of his 24 bags last year after the All-Star break.

  • Adam Frazier 2B | LAA

Pirates' Adam Frazier: Cleared to start

Frazier (foot) will start at second base and lead off Wednesday against the Reds.

Frazier was out of the lineup for the second game of Monday's doubleheader along with Tuesday's 11-6 loss while dealing with a sore foot that stemmed from being hit by a pitch. The day off appears to have done Frazier some good, as he received the green light to re-enter the lineup at his usual position and lineup spot. Cole Tucker will head to the bench to open up room in the infield for Frazier.

  • Adam Frazier 2B | LAA

Pirates' Adam Frazier: Sitting again Tuesday

Frazier (foot) isn't in the starting lineup Tuesday against the Reds.

Frazier will take a seat for the second straight contest, as he was also held out of the lineup for Game 2 of Monday's doubleheader. He was drilled by a pitch in the foot in Game 1 and was spotted with a wrap on the same foot Tuesday, though the team has yet to reveal the severity of the injury. Kevin Newman draws the start at the keystone and will lead off.
