Braves' Ozzie Albies: Huge showing at plate in return

Albies (wrist) went 3-for-6 with a home run, two RBI and three runs scored Wednesday as the Braves pummeled the Marlins, 29-9.

Wednesday marked Albies' first game back since hitting the injured list Aug. 4 with a right wrist contusion, and he wasted no time making his presence felt, getting the Braves on the board in the second with an RBI groundout. Albies would eventually come up to bat for a second time in the same inning and put an exclamation point on an 11-run frame by teaming up with Adam Duvall for back-to-back home runs. Prior to his stint on the IL, Albies was hitting .159/.196/.273 with a home run, six RBI and 13 strikeouts in 11 games, so he may continue to be slotted in towards the bottom of the batting order until he starts consistently showing he can get on base at a higher clip.

Diamondbacks' Josh Rojas: Fills in for injured Marte

Rojas started at second base and went 1-for-4 with a run scored in Wednesday's 6-4 loss to the Dodgers.

With the Diamondbacks placing Ketel Marte (wrist) on the injured list, Rojas was given the first chance to fill in at second base. He's made eight starts at various positions, and now it looks like he'll have a permanent defensive home while Marte is sidelined. Rojas is 6-for-29 with one RBI, four runs scored, one stolen base and 11 strikeouts during that eight-game stretch.

  • Dodgers' Enrique Hernandez: Goes yard in win

Hernandez went 2-for-5 with a solo home run and another RBI during Wednesday's win in Arizona.

The 24-year-old opted out of the season during the Marlins' COVID-19 outbreak early in the season, but he committed to rejoining the team and was approved for reinstatement in late August. Diaz has been workout out at the alternate training site and will remain there until recalled to the big-league roster.

  • Ketel Marte 2B | ARI

Diamondbacks' Ketel Marte: Placed on 10-day IL

Marte was placed on the 10-day injured list with left wrist inflammation Wednesday.

It's unclear exactly how Marte sustained the injury, but he'll be sidelined at least 10 days as a result. While the severity of the injury isn't known, Tim Locastro and Daulton Varsho could see an uptick in playing time in center field. • Ozzie Albies 2B | ATL

Braves' Ozzie Albies: Batting eighth in return

Albies (wrist) will start at second base and will bat eighth Wednesday against the Marlins.

As expected, Albies will re-enter the lineup for the first time since Aug. 4 after the Braves activated him from the 10-day injured list earlier in the day. Though Albies primarily batted out of the two hole before being shut down with the sprained right wrist, the Braves are expected to ride the hot bats of Travis d'Arnaud and Dansby Swanson near the top of the order for the foreseeable future. As a result, Albies may be confined to a spot in the bottom third of the order until he proves deserving of a better assignment.
