Diamondbacks' Ketel Marte: Goes deep Friday

Marte went 1-for-4 with a solo home run in a win over San Diego on Friday.

Marte started in left field and occupied the second spot in the order in the contest. He crushed a 431-foot shot to left field off Blake Snell in the fifth inning for his first homer since June 2. Marte's .346 batting average this season is undoubtedly impressive, but Friday's long ball was only his fifth of the campaign. Since mashing 32 homers in 2019, he has hit only seven across 360 at-bats over his past two seasons.

  • Ozzie Albies 2B | ATL

Braves' Ozzie Albies: Power surge continues

Albies went 1-for-4 with a solo home run and two strikeouts in Friday's 4-2 win over the Nationals.

Albies struck out in his first two at-bats Saturday, but he continued his recent power surge in the sixth inning with his fourth home run in the last five games. During that stretch, the 24-year-old has gone 5-for-21 with seven RBI, five runs, a stolen base, two walks and eight strikeouts.

  • Rockies' Brendan Rodgers: Returns to lineup

Rodgers (hand) is starting Friday's game against the Giants, Thomas Harding of MLB.com reports.

Rodgers had missed four consecutive games due to right hand soreness, but he'll start at shortstop and bat third Friday. The 25-year-old had slashed .370/.414/.667 with four homers, four doubles, 12 runs and eight RBI in the 13 games prior to his absence.

  • Jeff McNeil 2B | ATH

Mets' Jeff McNeil: Not starting versus southpaw

McNeil is out of the lineup Friday against the Dodgers, Deesha Thosar of the New York Daily News reports.

McNeil is 8-for-37 (.216 average) through 11 games in August and will receive the day off with lefty Julio Urias pitching for Los Angeles. Brandon Drury will start at the keystone in his place Friday.

  • Luis Urias 2B | ATH

Brewers' Luis Urias: Homers twice in five-hit day

Urias went 5-for-6 with two home runs, three doubles, five RBI and five runs scored in Thursday's win over the Cubs.

Several Brewers made a huge impact offensively during Thursday's win, but none matched Urias' output as he put together one of the best individual offensive displays of the entire MLB season. The shortstop extended his hitting streak to five games as well and is hitting an impressive .440 with a 1.422 OPS through 25 at-bats this month. Even though those numbers are unsustainable in the long run, there's no question he's been one of the hottest bats in the National League over the past couple weeks.

  • Josh Rojas 3B | CHW

Diamondbacks' Josh Rojas: Smacks four hits

Rojas went 4-for-5 with a double, two runs, two RBI and a walk in a 12-3 victory against the Padres on Thursday.

Rojas singled in the first, walked and scored in the second, doubled and scored in the fourth, singled in the sixth and brought home two runs with a single in the seventh. The 27-year-old enjoyed his best game of the season and broke out of an 0-for-6 slump following a stint on the IL. Reaching base five times increased his on-base percentage a substantial seven points in just one game.

  • Ozzie Albies 2B | ATL

Braves' Ozzie Albies: Hits home run No. 20

Albies went 1-for-5 with a solo home run in Thursday's blowout loss to the Reds.

Albies got into a Jeff Hoffman offering in the eighth inning and sent it over the wall in center field for his 20th home run of the season. He has gone yard in two straight games and in three of his past four, though he's hitting just .171 so far in August. Despite the recent skid, the 24-year-old leads the Braves with 76 RBI on the year and owns an .802 OPS in 490 plate appearances.

  • Reds' Jonathan India: Cracks pair of extra-base hits

India went 2-for-4 with a solo home run, a double and a walk in a 12-3 win over Atlanta on Thursday.

India led off the game with a double to snap out of a 1-for-12 skid. He later drilled a solo homer to center field in the third inning off of Josh Tomlin, India's 14th round tripper of the season. The rookie standout is hitting .281 with an .865 OPS in 436 plate appearances while adding eight stolen bases in 11 attempts.

  • Rockies' Brendan Rodgers: Still dwelling with swelling

Rodgers remains day-to-day with right hand soreness, Patrick Saunders of The Denver Post reports.

Rodgers was out of the lineup again Thursday and has now remained sidelined since exiting Saturday's game. Manager Bud Black gave some additional insight into the injury, saying that Rodgers remains day-to-day while trainers try to get the swelling and soreness managed. It's unclear if Rodgers will end up on the injured list.

  • Rockies' Brendan Rodgers: Sitting again Thursday

Rodgers (hand) is out of the lineup Thursday against the Giants, Patrick Saunders of The Denver Post reports.

Rodgers suffered a bruised right hand during Saturday's contest and hasn't appeared in a game since sustaining the injury. His absence will continue Thursday while Garrett Hampson starts at the keystone.
