  • Adam Frazier 2B | LAA

Padres' Adam Frazier: On bench against lefty

Frazier isn't in the lineup Saturday against the Angels.

Frazier will retreat to the bench for a third consecutive game with left-hander Jose Suarez starting for the Halos. Jurickson Profar will start at the keystone and bat eighth.

  • Ketel Marte 2B | ARI

Diamondbacks' Ketel Marte: Enters Friday's game

Marte (hip) entered Friday's game as a pinch hitter and played four innings at second base in a 7-6 extra-inning loss to Philadelphia. He went 1-for-2 with a two-run home run.

Arizona manager Torey Lovullo told Nick Piecoro of the Arizona Republic prior to the game that Marte's hip injury was not serious, adding that Marte would be available off the bench Friday. Marte is expected to start Saturday. It's interesting that Marte played second base, and not his usual home in center field. That could be due to the circumstances of the game, or perhaps the Diamondbacks want the oft-injured Marte playing a less stressful position. After the Diamondbacks waived Asdrubal Cabrera, at-bats are available at second and third base, though the team may want to give more regular infield work to players like Josh Rojas, Josh VanMeter and Drew Ellis.

  • Adam Frazier 2B | LAA

Padres' Adam Frazier: Remains out of lineup

Frazier isn't in the lineup for Friday's game against the Angels.

Frazier has lost out on playing time recently and will be out of the lineup for the third time in the last four games. Jurickson Profar will start at the keystone and bat eighth.

  • Jeff McNeil 2B | ATH

Mets' Jeff McNeil: Gets breather Friday

McNeil isn't starting Friday's game against the Nationals, Mike Puma of the New York Post reports.

Even though right-hander Paolo Espino is starting for the Nationals on Friday, McNeil will retreat to the bench for a second straight game. J.D. Davis will start at the hot corner and bat sixth.

  • Ketel Marte 2B | ARI

Diamondbacks' Ketel Marte: Not in Friday's lineup

Marte (hip) isn't starting Friday's game against the Phillies.

Marte was removed from Thursday's game due to right hip discomfort, and it's not yet clear whether he'll be available off the bench. Jake McCarthy will take his place in center field and bat seventh.

  • Michael Chavis 2B | CIN

Pirates' Michael Chavis: Getting on base

Chavis went 4-for-5 with two runs scored in a win over the Cardinals on Thursday.

Drawing the start at second base and batting in the two hole, Chavis collected four hits in Thursday's victory. Chavis has now appeared in four games since being acquired from Boston at the trade deadline and is 7-for-17 with a homer, two RBI and three runs.

  • Gavin Lux SS | TB

Dodgers' Gavin Lux: Sent to minors

Lux was optioned to Triple-A Oklahoma City on Thursday, Juan Toribio of MLB.com reports.

Lux was sent down as the team activated Mookie Betts and also needed arms out of the bullpen after a 16-inning marathon Wednesday. However, manager Dave Roberts also said that Lux would benefit from everyday at-bats, something he wouldn't get with the big-league club. Roberts also noted the possibility that Lux would return to the Dodgers in September, but that's not a given as rosters expand to only 28 spots rather than 40 as was the case in past seasons.

  • Ketel Marte 2B | ARI

Diamondbacks' Ketel Marte: Dealing with hip discomfort

Marte exited Thursday's game against the Phillies with right hip discomfort.

It's not clear how Marte suffered the injury, or if he's expected miss extended time. Marte was sidelined over two months with a pair of hamstring injuries earlier this season, so the team may opt to rest him regularly even if he avoids a serious issue.

  • Adam Frazier 2B | LAA

Padres' Adam Frazier: Absent from lineup again

Frazier is not in Thursday's lineup against the Dodgers.

Frazier will sit for the second time in the team's last three games. On Tuesday, he sat with lefty Julio Urias on the mound, though on Thursday the team will be facing right-hander Max Scherzer. Since Aug. 1, Frazier is hitting just .237/.293/.276, and given the team's lineup depth it's possible he continues to see more time on the bench. Ha-Seong Kim will draw the start at second base and bat seventh in Frazier's place.

  • Thairo Estrada 2B | BAL

Giants' Thairo Estrada: Joins big-league club

Estrada was recalled from Triple-A Sacramento on Thursday, Maria I. Guardado of MLB.com reports.

Estrada has been at Triple-A since being demoted Aug. 14, but he'll rejoin the Giants on Thursday with Donovan Solano (undisclosed) heading to the injured list. The 25-year-old has an .809 OPS in 89 plate appearances this season and should fill a utility role while in the majors.
